PSP Emulation interviews ScummVM PSP dev Tom Mayer

Tom Mayer, one of the coders behind the PSP port of the ScummVM emulator, speaks about the complications of the development process, his favorite homebrew release, and the potential of the PSP hardware. He also gives the ps2dev.org website a thorough tongue bathing, but that's another story altogether.

The emulator allows SCUMM-based games like The Secret of Monkey Island and Sam & Max Hit the Road to run on hardware it wasn't originally meant to run on.

One of the most interesting points that Mayer brings up is Sony's lack of acknowledgement for the PSP homebrew scene. It's too soon to tell if or when the company will roll the red carpet out for PSP homebrewers, but if the PS2 Linux kit is any indication, that could very well be a distinct possibility at some future date. Preferably before you-know-where freezes over.
