I sure wish that UMD prices here in Japan were anywhere near that amount!!!

Sounded like a good deal till I saw the prices. DeepdiscountDVD.com had a 2 for 1 deal recently and their base prices are about $15 or less for a UMD. I got six titles for $44 including shipping. This is a far better deal than Amazon which seems to have fairly inflated base prices (some titles for $30!!! You've got to be kidding)

ugh! why can't sony just come up with cheap DRM-based content distribution like iTunes. I hate paying premium for stupid UMDs, and it's even stupider to carry them around when I have a 2GB memory stick. Especially since they are trying so hard to tout the PSP as the walkman of the future, or as the iPod killer.
I guess that's why iPod is going to kill the PSP in this arena. Movie makers and TV people don't have to worry about piracy on iTunes, and they don't have to pay for manufacturing and distributing a UMD. and customers don't have to walk to a store to get there video fix, or wait for the mail. Come on Sony!!! Wake up!!!

Soupbun, question for you. Why do movie makers and tv people NOT need to worry about downloadable content from Apple or anyone else? Tell me, has any DRM not been cracked to date? the UMD format is a challenge to copyright infringers, which is one of its benefits from the provider perspective. I'm not speaking for the studios here, rather as a concerned consumer interested in the quality of entertainment going into our exciting future (who would have thought we'd be talking about things like this today 10 years ago? pretty cool, no matter what:) I have disposable income. I find the UMD format fun and robust. I don't find a a menuless download much fun at all, to be honest.

I just tried this deal, and cancelled one UMD since it was out of stock; half the discount still applied! Got the movie in in two days.
It's good for one UMD, FYI.
