PSP advertising: Like it or leave it?
We're curious, PSP fanboys. Okay, it's also been a slow news week, but we're still going somewhere with this. So far we've been inundated by squirrels, dust balls, mice, and dead-eyed graffiti kids, but have any of these advertising attempts really been effective? Take the adverts from England for example: Would you appreciate seeing these relatively provocative PSP ads make the rounds in the United States? How's advertising been in your area? My take on what makes an advertisement effective is judged by two factors: Is it memorable, and does it leave a positive impression of the product, making me want to hear, read, or find out more about it?
We'd like to hear your opinion, and as always, we're good and ready for a listen. Leave a comment and let us know what you think about Sony's advertising campaigns. Do you think they're stupid? Do you think they're funny and interesting? Do they make you want to fling yourself violently against a signboard like the guy in the video? Spill it!

I live in Southern Ontario (Canada) and in my opinion, the TV ads are getting more and more stupid. I especially hate the one with the friggin squirells. Just makes me want to take a gun and shoot something. I really miss the old ones though, the ones with the "Take me Out" by Franz Ferdinand playing in the background. Those were works of art. As for the ads that I see on the bus, they aren't bad.

I'm in Toronto, and yeah, the first commercials were awesome, with catchy music. These squirrel things and dustballs are okay, but pretty random. The bus ones are okay, nothing special there either. I do think the ads in the UK are doing their job though, getting peoples attention and getting them to talk about it. But maybe a little too much so, with the white bits and the running jump.. still, we're talking about it, right?

The other day I read that one or more of those run and jump signs had to be taken down from train stations incase people (stupid ppl i may add) took it literally and jump on to the tracks or infront of a train or something.
What a daft world we live in.
"it's also been a slow news week" - Where hava you being hiding? Some of the biggest PSP news since it's release was announced yesterday (or today?).

You're right, Neil, we missed that one. I probably should have said, "Busy making a living". :) Thanks for the link!
In regard to the ads in the UK; would you consider an ad campaign that draws attention to itself via controversy of the negative sort (at least to the more prudish members of society) to be effective? In other words, do you subscribe to the "bad press is good press" philosophy?

Rafael, you're not fooling anyone. This is perhaps the biggest news week for the PSP since it launched. You make every effort to make Sony and this device look like shit, from posting junk crap 'news' to pics of torn up PSPs. Your agenda is obvious - your humor is lame, you're making this site into a joke.
If you're too "busy making a living" (yet apparently have enough free time to malign Sony and the PSP on this site) to print positive PSP news instead of this tripe, then I suggest you focus on your preferred tasks, like maybe playing with your Nintendo.

I would, pixelator, but I'm still waiting for that "I Want To Have Miyamoto's Children" Gamecube skin to come in.

you know your a fanboy when you get angry when someone critisizes "your company". and you say playing nintendo like its a insult...
