Star Wars Galaxies coming to PS3, say Amazon and Buy.com

If this product page for a Star Wars Galaxies strategy guide from Buy.com (and Amazon.com) are to be believed, then one could reasonably deduce that the troubled MMO will be making its way to the PS3 sometime soon.
The evidence? First, that parenthetical platform designation of "Console" for the strat guide. As Galaxies was cancelled for the PS2 a long, long time ago, and there would be no reason to order up a guide for a non-existing game, it would stand to reason that Sony's main MMO not named EverQuest would be seeing some action on the next generation system.
And next, that pre-order release date of 4/30/2006. There's a chance that means Prima and the major e-tailers you see here forgot to update their product pages to reflect the delayed PS3 launch (from spring to early November of this year). Either that or they're actually referencing the cancelled PS2 version with a random future date to avoid any responsibility for the thing. Sometimes you just gotta read between the lines.

SOE has been lying about SWG console for months now. Now its coming and they still will not admit it. The last time something like this happened is when the NGE came out and SOE had Tiggs to lie about to the point that it cost her her job. SOE is such a wondeful company is like Saddam was such a wonderful leader but SOE like to rattle their sabers alittle more.

ou really should remove this article if you want anyone to think you have any credibility at all.
This is an errant listing that's been out for months and months on Amazon. It has been discussed ad nausem on the Star Wars Galaxies boards forever...not only is it meaningless...but you are REALLY late to the party to begin discussing it.
None of this should be taken as if I don't think SWG might make an appearance on the PS3 at some point...in fact I think it will...but it's not going to be this year...and might not even be next year. But it takes more than a 3 year old posting on Amazon to "prove" it.
I see another entry like this...and I'm never visting this site again...excep to point and laugh at its lameness.

Please note that my comments were dripping with sarcasm....I'm very glad to see this site up. It's just that this rumor is starting to become one of those urban legends like the one one-ared man killing the teenagers.

BTW--wouldn't it be suicide for a MMORPG to be a launch title? You have to wait until there's a sold user base before you can launch an MMORPG.

Thanks for the clarification, JJ! As far as MMORPGs launching with a console, however, I suppose that a slow ramp-up could be helpful for avoiding server crashes and related queuing issues (though it probably wouldn't be as good for increasing profits).
