7. Final Fantasy III (NDS, Square Enix)
8. Monster Hunter 3 (PS3, Capcom)

Moderators - "We dont want fanboys! Please dont flame!"
Then they post this? Cmon now.
1. Not many people care what the Japanese think in North America/Europe. (I would hope thats who reads this since its in English)
2. Doubt this is real since Halo 3 is conveniently in the last spot for this poll (To try to make it look like Xbox 360 is even an option). If FPS is hated so much I would think there is another "Japanese" game that would have made the list.
3. Monster Hunter 3?!? Uh...

"1. Not many people care what the Japanese think in North America/Europe. (I would hope thats who reads this since its in English)"
Contrary to popular belief, gamers do care what Japanese think about games. Their preference drives Japanese developers choice. It's also nice to know the console you like is liked elsewhere, and not hated or ignored.
Halo 3? I guess they asked the american immigrants in Japan, lol.
Cage @ May 25th 2006 2:17PM
Wouldnt get too happy boots. A PS3 site put those "stats" up.

Money...cash...dollars...yen (because Japan means so much to you) is what drives developers. Otherwise they wouldnt translate games to English. Can PS3fanboy release a poll in the US? Wouldnt that be easier to find? Its nice to know what happens in other countries too (besides Japan since you believe that is the only other country)...like India...but they wouldnt be seeing the PS3 anytime before 2008, probably 2009.
boots (former bd) @ May 25th 2006 3:02PM
A PS3 site put up that "Wii" is the most wanted console and by a long shot, so I wouldn't call them biased.
Anyway, americans are not going to get an Xbox 360 just because it is american or because it has FPS (games for "real gamers"); the failure of car companies against Toyota and Honda in the states reflects that, so
Microsoft can't take the EU and US for granted the way Sony can take Japan for granted.
On the other hand, Japanese are very proud people, and also they already know FF and MGS are heading towards PS3. So you are right, Japanese developers will develop towards where half of *their money* is: The japanese market. Final Fantasy sells out a lot faster in asian markets than in American markets (even when America is the 'bigger' market). So if japanese titles oriented towards the japanese sell a lot in PS3, there is not much reason to port them to 360 is it? Also, did you know that titles are translated in english... for PS3? They know americans will also buy a PS3, that's why they translate to english... for PS3.
So basically, let's see the process: Japanese gamers are interested in PS3----> Japanese developers make games that catter to them---> Japanese game lovers in the states and europe (which are a lot) see interest for PS3 in Japan, so they also want a PS3 ----> Japanese developers don't need to port to 360 in order to get money; they just need the PS3. If a gamer wants any of these Japanese games, it's as easy as getting a PS3.
If some Japanese games suddenly went all exclusive on Xbox 360, the sales wouldn't be as fast as they would be on PS3 (just look at enchant arm or 99 nights), given the lack of interest the Japanese show for PS3. So where did their money go, Cage? To PS3.
If the PS3 will be "hard to sell" in the states, the 360 will be even harder to sell in Japan.

Oh, and by the way, the Poll was made by FAMITSU, not a PS3 mag or site.
Cage @ May 25th 2006 3:31PM
Car sales = Videogame sales? Please stay on topic. This is a BLOG. Your rants are all quantity...I see no quality. Keep it short and get to the point.
"So if japanese titles oriented towards the japanese sell a lot in PS3, there is not much reason to port them to 360 is it?"
The TWO games that are "Japanese" and arent ported are MGS and FF. Please dont act like there is a whole list of "games" that matters besides these two. There is a chance that MGS will no longer be exclusive due to questions about the 360 outselling the PS3 and MGS being able to be run on a 360.
Famitsu = Japanese Mag
I apologize. Its not a PS3 mag but a Japanese one. This is even worst then as the Wii has much more interest. The PS3 is #2 in its "homeland?"..."the place the console is designed for?"
Guillermo @ May 25th 2006 4:33PM
Famitsu is one of the most influential japanese magazine in Japan. Not only that, they are very tough on their reviews.

Cage @ May 25th 2006 5:40PM
I live in the US. Famitsu doesnt mean much to me. Their reviews dont mean much to me. All I know is the "premier Japanese magazine" has shown that the "premier system" is second in its home market. The fact that the 360 is low is irrelevant.

"Car sales = Videogame sales? Please stay on topic."
Umm, it's an analogy? You do know what that means, don't you? It was meant for you to understand that americans are not as partisans (as you'd like them to be), as opposed to the japanese. I can't believe you didn't get it.
"This is a BLOG. Your rants are all quantity...I see no quality. Keep it short and get to the point."
YES, SIR!! I mean, no Sir, I'm going to say whatever I want whether you like it or not. Quality? Who the hell are you to ask for quality, negative star man? ;)

Umm, there are more than "just two" japanese titles for PS3; Devil May Cry 4, Full Auto 2, FF *Versus* XIII, Monster Hunter, just to name a few... hell, look at how many games SEGA is making for PS3 (near 30), and then look how many games they are making for Xbox 360 (less than 15), even when PS3 has six months to come out, and when Xbox 360 has been out 6 months already. Do your homework next time. Besides, the reason there aren't as many games announced for PS3 is because it is not yet out in the market. The first round of games are barely coming out in November, just give the Japanese time to adopt it, and to the 360 to be overwhelmed in Japan.
"Famitsu = Japanese Mag

Worse? It's not like it looks good for 360 (as in "it's going to get MGS4" ported over), and it's not like Wii will get the PS3 games ported. There are still 6 months for matters to change; after all, the price has barely been revealed. The games they want the most are MGS4, FFXIII and Zelda. And why would buying a Wii deterr anyone from buying another console? Wii is very cheap so it won't really matter. That's not to say that in Japan, higher technology electronics (such as Blu-ray) is very attractive, so the FAMITSU poll might not even be representative of those.
Automatic Machine Gun @ May 25th 2006 8:14PM
This poll is wrong, why is MGS4 higher up in the poll than Halo 3? Oh thats right, this is a Japanese poll, and its a known fact that japanese don't like FPS games that much, duhr.
Cage @ May 25th 2006 8:39PM
"Devil May Cry 4, Full Auto 2, FF *Versus* XIII, Monster Hunter..."
These may sell well in Japan but not here in the US. I said these are the games that matter. Again...do you live abroad? Im sure they have a Japanese blog you could argue in. Uhh...is it me or where is Monster Hunter 1 and 2?!?
"And why would buying a Wii deterr anyone from buying another console? Wii is very cheap so it won't really matter."
People wont be able to afford games for the PS3 and youre saying another console would be cheap!?! You live in a fantasy world. Your comments make you come off at 16 yrs old or younger.
And about your 0 stars/my negative star. I saw your posts to Mr Macho (moderator). You cried for a full 4-5 paragraphs. If thats what it takes for you to still end up stuck at zero...
Pete @ May 25th 2006 9:23PM
Now you are getting a wii bit ridiculous now Cage. Devil May Cry 4 and Full Auto 2 (A SEQUEL TO AN XBOX 360 LAUNCH TITLE) are greatly respected stateside, I think you are just fighting with bd now. C'mon, fair is fair... Games that matter, seriously, you have to come up with some sources or something to show that those games DONT matter.
Pete @ May 25th 2006 9:24PM
Note: did not mean to reference the nintendo wii, just came out that way.
matjet @ May 26th 2006 2:29AM
cage, what do you call a large goblinish creature that turns to stone in the sunelight(at least according to tolkien).why on a site honouring the ps3 i dont know, and dont want to.
halo3 being on the list is perfectly understandable. those japanese who do buy the xbox360 are those that like fps.ers. also microsoft has hyped halo such that it is considered the best title on their system, and even if it isent a partically popular system, you can expect the best game to be their on the list. games like blue dragon may be the sort the japanese majority enjoys but this fact alone doesent necesarily assure it a spot in the top 10.
Unlike Me @ May 26th 2006 7:30AM
Sony just got OWNED! Halo 3 is on the top 10 list ..in Japan? This is fantastic and you can tell Sony is losing its grip. The Japanese don't even like FPS games at all, only Europe/US do. Japanese like Final Fantasy and other Japanese-like games, and Halo 3 is on the top 10 in Japan? Owwwned! Sony got burnt here.
Cage @ May 26th 2006 1:16PM

I said FF and MGS are the games that matter. In other words...games I would buy the console for. Would I buy a PS3 for Devil May Cry or Full Auto? No. I would buy it for FF and MGS though.
"Devil May Cry 4 and Full Auto 2 (A SEQUEL TO AN XBOX 360 LAUNCH TITLE)"
The 360 has games similar to Devil May Cry and Full Auto was a flop (wouldnt be proud to choose that game as an exclusive sequel). Again...where is Monster Hunter 1 and 2?!?

I guess Cage's importance in the videogame market is way higher than everyone else's importance. And I thought Japanese were there for the money. *sigh*

Monster Hunter "2"

It has plenty of fans, that's why it's going to get a third iteration. Hell, what would you know, the game doesn't "matter".
