Sony launches the PS3 ... website
Europeans get dibs at the official Playstation 3 website access it as well and read up, but luckily we can on all the gooey, sugary news Sony can top us off with. What we can check out on the site consists mostly of exciting pictures of the console, controllers, the usual specs, and other content. It's hardly a complete website, but look at the pretty moving graphics! Is anyone going to make the PS3 pictures their background? For Sony fanboys, this site is pretty sweet. It's a great way to freshen up on the basics of PS3

Is this the new website for the Playstation 3 or for Spider-Man 3... with that font and the "black" theme going on... is the PS3 going to come with web shooters?
lloyd @ Jun 29th 2006 5:12PM
strangely enough that's the same font the xbox uses as well as spiderman
Sonn @ Jun 29th 2006 5:14PM
agreed on the spiderman theme, cool superhero, but for something that's gonna run a refined cost level, a more refined style is in order i think (If you wanna be like apple, start thinking more like apple - see crazy exec banter).
As for memory cards, well it'll almost be a put-your-money-where-your-mouth-is kinda ploy, if you really wanted the backwards compat, now you have to play all your old games again to get the cool stuff ;)

This site is a joke. I thought this was supposed to be for PS3 fans, yet the editorials always seem to stray against Sony. If we are going to be biased at all, isn't this the site in which we should be Pro-Sony biased?
Save the rest of the anti-Sony splatter for your other sites.

@4: I don't see a problem with asking questions. I feel that if Sony does something with the memory cards, it'll be either a usb connection with the ps2 to pull the info off the cards or better yet, a usb memory card reading accessory. One time use? Yeah, but it'd work. Sony bashing and Sony inquiring are a bit different, really. If it's Sony's -official- site, then yes, they will pump up the propaganda, just like any Nintendo homepage or Microsoft page would. Relax, my friend, relax.

here we go again..

Kyle, they would only call it propaganda on this site. I've never seen it on Wiifanboy, Xbox360fanboy or the like so that does make things differently. It's only in that do I have the problem. Inquiring about Sony is fine with me.
For the record, propaganda is being misused here. Not like anyone cares, but it actually means derogatory information disseminated in a misleading manor for the purpose of promoting a political point of view. It really has nothing to do with a company self-aggrandizing their own console for the sake of sales. It would only be vaguely similar to propaganda if they publicly bashed another system on their website to further their own console sales.
Oh, and I do still think that a website like this should have a pro-Sony slant and not undertones of anti-Sony biase in the posts. I'm not a fanboy by any means (I'm getting a Wii actually), I just feel that way in general.

US site ...

I posted the US site above but it doesn't look like they have done anything with it yet...at least not like the European site.

funkbass23: I care, and you're mistaken. Propoganda, though a pejorative, in no way means "derogatory." I think you have your vocab mixed up.
The definition:
"The systematic propagation of a doctrine or cause or of information reflecting the views and interests of those advocating such a doctrine or cause."
So a brochure made from Sony's pov, with info on how the next-gen is starting with them, how next-gen games need Blu-ray, how TrueHD is the only real HD, all strikes me as propaganda designed to reflect the views and interests of Sony, who in fact advocate such formats/technologies/design decisions.
Why should a site like PS3 Fanboy call this propaganda? Because it is. Just because readers ostensibly like this console, doesn't mean they should come here like sheep to the slaughter, looking for their daily dose of mind-rotting fanboyism.
Sony is an enormous corporation that doesn't need our help selling their product; our job is to tell you -- gamers! -- about the PS3 from the vantage point of fans of the console. As fans, I expect them to be equally harsh of any perceived misteps on Sony's part that would not be in the best interest of fans of the console. If you want mindless press-release rehashes, there are plenty of outlets on these here internets, but this won't be one of them.

Seems to me that Nick used the strike-thru HTML tag to make a tongue-in-cheek poke at Sony's web site, not to abusively put down the console we know (well, hope for) and love. I won't add to what Mr. Grant said here, but as long as Sony answers our save-transfer questions by launch, I'll be a happy man. Now about all the saves on my PS2 hard drive...

I am a 360 fanboy and I'm not going to bash the ps3 or anything, but, xbox360fanboy.com did similar things with the 360 before it came out and even after. They were not always blindly supporting every move M$ made. Examples such as the shortage, the dual SKU's, and the multiple annoyances they posted exemplify my point.
