SmackDown cancellation causes wrestling riot
If you like wrestling, or watching wrestling, or playing wrestling, perhaps you were looking forward to getting your SmackDown fix on the PS3. You'd better find a different game to look forward to. The official THQ forum for Germany created a thread regarding the removal of the Sony and PS3 logo from the SmackDown website. It became such a hot topic that one of THQ's own, Max Stellar, posted a response: "The backdrop for this is that the PlayStation version was going to be finished substantially later than the other versions" and they would rather concentrate on every other platform first. The thread mysteriously vanished rather quickly. Recently, however, THQ has made their official announcement. They're releasing the next SmackDown on the 360, PSP and PS2. A fantastic new version is slated for 2007 on the PS3. So fear not, Sony fans, for there is still the PS2 version to enjoy. But this year's next-gen version is reserved solely for the XBox 360. So sorry, but it's better to let THQ get used to the awesome power of the PS3 so we can really feel the smacking and the downing next year, right?

First off...I would like to say that the controller did change for the PS3 but then some people would think this is the PS2 fanboy page. We wouldn't want that.
That said...the game is a port anyway. Doubt there would be a big difference from the PS2 version to the PS3 version.

i think the ps2/360 will be a port and ps3 to be different.

I think that it's fine that they're pushing it back... But then again I'm not a wrestling fan.
Most likely, the only differences might be a more updated roster than the other versions that come out earlier.

Better that the game is finished than releasing a crappy rushed product. But this certainly is an indicator of difficulty to develop for the PS3. This is not a good sign if Developers are struggling with the platform. If the 360 and XNA tools become the defacto standard for development...it will be very difficult for Sony to differentiate it's console and justify the extra cost that consumers are being asked to shell out.
