Gran Turismo 4: Mobile Edition delayed indefinitely

There may no other racing franchise to see more delays than Gran Turismo. And now it's portable edition Gran Turismo 4: Mobile Edition is getting in on the action or lack thereof.
Famitsu confirmed the news with the franchise developers Polyphony Digital that the racing sim has been delayed indefinitely.
While this definitely sucks, should we really be surprised? Gran Turismo 4 was delayed for more than a year and a half, so I guess it's only fitting that we do the same with the PSP version.

I'm not surprised, although I'm sure some will make hay with this to support their 'PSP is dying' theories. In reality, I suspect the game has just been plagued by development hell. It happens. It's not like the platform hasn't proven quite viable for racing.
Frankly, I think GTM would've met with a market already saturated with all kinds of racing games, some nailing it right where its target market is, like TOCA and the upcoming sequel. And really, I was far less than blown away by the latest Gran Turismo on the PSP - so I don't really care that much about this news, other than it being fodder for the various haters and doomsayers.

Tack this onto the list of reasons this system has been pissing me off lately. This would be like Nintendo scrapping Mario. As much as this might have been expected, how can they expect us not to be furious?

Maybe a release date to tie in with PS3 Vision Gran Turismo ?

Sony wonders why the DS outsells the PSP. It's mistakes like this that have contributed to the 2nd place status of the PSP.

I've got to side with the naysayers after all, on this. Despite a plethora of racing games out right now, GTM is a BIG PSP title - and was originally believed to be The Killer App that we could count on. I know Sony sold PSP systems just on the promise of that game, alone.
To delay it is one thing - to delay it a LONG time is another, but to now say it's INDEFINITELY delayed (read: maybe never?) is serious disillusionment time. When things like this happen, people wonder if you have your act together at all. I've been on game dev teams where the project was canned, and it's almost always because of some stupidity on marketing or exec. management's part(s).
Sony, you NEED to deliver this game.
