PS3 gets first commercial

It has been a busy weekend for the PS3. First, it gets its own Halo Killer. Now, it get its first commercial. This ad, apparently created for Europe (irony alert!), is very much in the same vein as the Blu-Ray "commercial" that was recently released. Clocking in at 3 mintues and 10 seconds, the promo takes a very, very long time to tell you about how the PS3's artificial intelligence will kick your butt. The torture ends with a short and enjoyable montage of actual gameplay.

I actually like that ad. It reminds me of the PS9 campaign (which anyone knows, was the best damn game campaign ever done). The underwater bit, the button shapes making up DNA, even the music. It's nice. Pity that it won't be seen in Europe until after the 360s second christmas.

Does anyone else see the grotestque irony in displaying FoM footage in an ad about the PS3's superior AI? You'd think they'd pick a game where the enemies AI repertoir consisted of more than:

"Circle Strafe in groups of 4"
"Stand perfectly still! It's our only chance" and
"Quick! Hide underneath this rock that can't cover our knees, let alone our entire body! That will stop the filthy humans!"

For God's sake, the Red Steel has better AI than that.

Sony should be the last people bragging about real time.

And from what i understand the Cell isn't best built for gaming features like AI.

Cell is mainly built for high definition visuals, not gaming.

So the PS3's "Real Time" is false hype.

It's not really a commercial per se. It's one out of six short films that Sony is hosting on their UK website.

I think it looks great personally.

That commerical didn't make much sense. I see what they are alluding to, but it sure goes a long time without anything related to gaming.

Wow...that was amazingly lame. Just builds up more expectation and fails to deliver with a few seconds of some FPS game that seemed completely out of place with the clips of this dude boxing. WTF...I just can't believe how inept Sony has become.

If you wan't to talk about AI...just show us some in game AI...If you wan't to talk about online...just show us what you've got! Sigh.
