Is there a super-secret PS3 launch title?
According to OPM (the Official Playstation Magazine), there is a super-secret PS3 launch game "that you have not heard of and won't hear about" until OPM's November issue hits the stands. If that wasn't mysterious enough, the OPM folks have given us one final clue to chew on... the unknown and unannounced launch game's title is five words long.Let the speculation begin! If you want to hear all of this first hand, check-out OPM's brand-new podcast (the super-secret game discussion begins at 40:20).
Our guess? FantaVision 2: Remixed and Reloaded.

seriously though,... another launch title is almost always good but why the secrecy ? can anyone else think of another example of where a company kept so tight lipped about a game scheduled for a console launch?
and why?

Shadow of the Collossus: Two?
Seems pretty likely, it was well recieved. Ico was a PS2 launch title after all.

The snarky posts are all well and good, but does anyone have any really good ideas? Oblivion COULD be it.. but I don't think so.
Oh well, it's probably going to be something crappy anyways.
Like Crash Bandicoot: Another Terrible Sequel :P

oblivion? nah, thats not worth keeping quiet until launch. wouldn't make a lick of sense.
ratchet and clank would rock but i know insomniac is working it's magic on resistance FOM.
grand turismo HD? i doubt it. not with all this stuff about shaky online. there's no way poly dig will get off shafting online play out of GT4 and GTHD.
and all those names are too short anyway.....

and it better not be some downloadable psone game like "riiiiidge racer". don't forget, psp emulation downloading is going live the same day as ps3 launch. and it's not like the ps3 isn't already ps1 backwards compatable.
(hey, thats a big advantage ps3 has on the download front. don't have your fav ps1 game on cd? buy it on download. the ps3 is already able to run it and the controller is already dead on. quite unlike the 360 where retro games have to be coded or re-emulated for the system. no more delays waiting for "one" game on "live wendsdays")

I would like to humbly suggest a prequel to Shadow of the Colossus.
I can only surmise that a must-have launch title HAS to be SCEI title as opposed to a Third Party developer, and in my opinion, Ico/SotC are one of the few first-party franchises that can pack a cult-like clout.

What might make sense is GOD OF WAR: XXX XXXX (making it five words) has been developed as a PS3 title all along (as well as the PS2 version we have all seen.) That way, the company could openly talk about the title - show it off at E3, etc. The magazine could say "you haven't heard of it" since no one has said anything about the PS3 development.
ndoerr @ Sep 16th 2006 3:15PM
I've got to get in on this...
My votes are for either an Ico sequel (which in my mind would kind of count as a Shadow of the Colossus prequel... or sequel... the two games are definitely related, but I can't figure out which actually happened first. I think SotC, personally) or on the aforementioned Zone of Enders. I don't think it has a "the", so it's probably got some nifty space subtitle. Zone of Enders: Sony Planet or some crap.
Otherwise... hmm. Otherwise, I've no idea. Not many 1st party titles come to mind. Maybe the Naughty Dog game? Technically we don't "know" much about it.
Nick James @ Sep 16th 2006 3:39PM
When does this issue hit news stands anyways? Or rather, when will someone actually have a copy of this issue in their hands so it can be posted online and quickly spread through teh Internets?
XxOMGHEYxX @ Sep 17th 2006 2:06PM
Judging by how he says
"This title is big, big, BIGGG... " and keep stressing the word ~BIG~...
What title was shown at E3 but we don't know anything about? Not even the name of the project...
Well, we know The naughty dog projects game is codenamed BIG.
And it also fits every other requirement...
Soooo...yeah.
Go watch the Naughty Dog's PS3 project trailor (BIG)
It is awesome.
And my guess at what this "secret" game is.

Tomb Raider @ Sep 26th 2006 10:21PM
OMFG! A got a friend who works for OPM and he said it is possibly a Tomb Raider title. This is not confirmed but quite possible! He also said that before there was talk of a PS3 - No one lives forever or PS3 - New Tenchu. But now a Tomb Raider is very much possible.
alienclay @ Sep 27th 2006 8:45PM
