Sony bundling BD movies with select PS3 games?
Ignore the part of this article about the Sonic boxart and how they aren't sure if it's fake or not. It is. It so is. Maybe not "fake", but at the very least, isn't "finalized". The creator of it still did a pretty good job. Anyway. Industry sources are whispering about a fantastic idea to help wean the masses into adopting Blu-ray. Sony might bundle select movie titles (in Blu-ray format, of course) with their launch titles. That way, adopters of the system will be tempted to use it as more than just a game system. Plus you get free movies! It's certainly a nice gesture, but if the movies aren't that great, people won't watch them. Oh well, perhaps we'll get a choice of one out of three or something upon game purchase. Would this inclusion of free BD movies change anyone's feeling about the Blu-ray player? If it works and works well, would you consider changing over to Blu-ray from then on?

not a bad idea IF they bundle movies that are worth seeing and not those movies you pick up for a few bucks down at your local video stores bargain bin.

No.
They never provide movies worthwhile.
Besides, I'll only use my PS3 as a Blu-ray movie player if I have to. It's a game machine, just like the PS2 was.

Don't be surprised to see Sony bundle terrible movies with their games, with titles like Stealth, Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle and Gigli.

Maybe if I had an HDTV, but since I don't it's just another desperate move by Sony to convince us to buy a $600 Blu-Ray player/online music service that also happens to play some games.
No thanks.

What are you people talking about? Getting a free Blu-Ray movie with the games would be an awesome deal...even if the movie was crap, just the experience would be worthy. Face it...Sony doesn't have to do anything like this. The PS3 will still sell.

Well hey if its free, whose gonna complain?
Even if a movie is bad, i'll take a free one any day with a purchase. and hey i liked stealth by the way!
and shogan its not so much a desperate attempt as it is a nice gesture i guess, kinda like how walmart double packs movies when they're first released, it really doesn't cost them much to do it and its priced the same so why not buy the dual pack ya know?
Seriously though if this is true why would anyone complain about a free movie?

When you get the Blu-ray movie you can add it to the large stack of beta max and PSP movies you have in the garbage bin.

Sorry to be the cynic, but I bet this is a ploy to charge 70-80 bucks a game and then glorify the "free" movie. I hope I am wrong though.
Cheers!

"When you get the Blu-ray movie you can add it to the large stack of beta max and PSP movies you have in the garbage bin."
Yep and they will cost the same price as the movies I watch on my PSP cost 0$. Can't beat free.99 sounds like a good idea to me.
