Downloads spotted at Tokyo Game Show
If you're lucky enough to be going to Tokyo Game Show, you'll see that Sony's offering tons of game demos at their PlayStation Spot kiosks. There are eleven in all including Monster Hunter Portable 2nd, Homestar Portable, Ridge Racers 2, Bounty Hounds, LocoRoco, Exit, and more. According to Famitsu, you will need firmware 2.81 to run these demos.Hopefully these TGS demos will eventually make their way to the internet so that all of us can enjoy them. Who doesn't love game demos?
[Update 1: Actually, some of these demos should appear online because some of them will be saved to your Memory Stick. Previously, Spot downloads will be erased from memory once the system was turned off. Notable game demos that will be saved on the disk include Bounty Hounds and Exit.]

Now, if only Sony would release demo's onto the internet. I still can't figure out way demo's like Killzone and SOCOM2 are released in UMD form. More people are likey to try them if they were posted on the PlayStation website. I wonder what the manufacturing cost of a demo UMD vs hosting for a download is.

Your so right on this it's not even funny. I have been unhappy with the lack of downloadable demos, let alone very hard to find UMD demos. I was one of the lucky people to recieve a Killzone:liberation demo, but during my scramble to get a demo I ended up witnessing some nasty things. The main thing was many Gamespot/EBgame locations only give the demos out to people who pre-order the specific title or a game in general. With the exception of Socom Fire Team bravo 2 which is branded as a Gamestop exclusive, where is the logic in that type of enforcement? What's the point of free demos? Good luck getting demos at a Best Buy, most will look at you like your speaking martian.
The sad part is, they are making expensive UMDs for no good reason while neglecting the PSP's capabilities. Why don't we have $5 PSP demo packs, say 8 demos per UMD. This is not impossible and I have seen such multi-demo UMDs already at Best Buy PSP kiosks. That makes a lot more sense than a 3 minute lengthed gameplay demo of Killzone: Liberation on a UMD which can hold 1.8 gigs of data.

Good stuff, i'm kinda getting bored with World Tour Soccer and some other demos.
Hope they are not japanese demos as well.
Hosting a demo should be way cheaper than UMD demos definitely but maybe games like Killzone would appeal to a lot of people, so i guess Sony want to make a little profit out a game demo for once.
