Win an Xbox 360! From Sony!
This kind of stuff just makes me smile. Sometimes big companies have their arms in so many businesses, that it's hard for the left hand to know what the right one is doing. For Sony this is double hard because they not only make the technology to play and enable all kinds of content (Blu-Ray, UMD, ATRAC, Mini-disc, etc), they also create the content too (Sony Pictures, Sony Online Entertainment, Sony BMG Music, etc). In those scenarios, you're going to occassionaly take your eye off the ball. Which is what looks like happened with Sony Music's promotional contest for their new Jessica Simpson album. The grand-prize? An Xbox 360.
I would imagine that our hardcore fanboys might use the feedback option at the bottom of this promotional site to let Sony know that they should be giving away a PS3 (or at least a PSP) instead of teaming up with the competition The feedback link takes you directly to Sony Music.

Well you do have to remember that while many big companies are made up of individual sister/parent companies, they don't always have any kinda of business with eachother.
for example... if there was a show on fox that was cancelled, but went straight to dvd via 21st century fox... the fox channel doesn't get a dime of that (per tim minier... brainchild behind firefly, wonderfalls, & the inside).

I don't think we are talking about profit sharing here. To use your own TV analogy, this is akin to FOX TV doing a special promotion for a Paramount Pictures release (I'm not talking about commercials). This is why you only see FOX TV air special promotions for 20th Century Fox movie releases (as you see all the time with their "see 10 minutes of kick-ass footage" promotions they've done with movies like X-men 3 and Day After Tomorrow.

They don't want to damage their music division by having it associated with inferior consoles like the PS3 and PSP.

Inferior is a comparative implying the XBOX360 is a SUPERIOR console to the INFERIOR PS3.
