If you were there, this ain't groundbreaking, folks. It's stamped on every single PS3 controller your grubby hands touched. We're talking, of course, about the PS3 seemingly being dubbed SIXAXIS, as was generally agreed upon a
while back. Not that we'll say to our friends, "Yo, toss me my SIXAXIS," but it's good to know if you weren't able to make it to Tokyo for a couple of days. Why? Because it's a decent name and we should nod slightly to the, er, controller naming division of Sony. Good call, guys. Now we just have to wait until November to get our SIXAXIS action satisfaction reaction.

Anyone now wonder if Sony is a Nazi regime?

So are you saying that Geometry is facist too, _habit_? :D

I would sell my soul if it had rumble. But it will probably never have forcefeedback with a name like sixaxis...otherwise those "creative" geniuses over there at Sony would have to call it
sixaxisdualshock

Am I the only one concerned that we haven't seen any mention of a bundled headset?
Renarudo @ Sep 26th 2006 12:14AM
Well from using the Logitech Wireless controller, and turning off the rumble feature often because it increased battery life to 100+ hours instead of the >50. . . I can say that I won't really miss the rumble.
Sure, it'll be a void in many games, but overall, it won't matter much. Let's pray that we wont have to plug our PS3 controllers in every 2 gaming sessions because they lost power. (360 controllers are horrendous for battery life...)

The names looks better than it sounds. The fact it is a palindrome makes it visually appealing, although actually say SIXAXIS gives my mouth a bit of a workout.

just call it the SA! or SAS (sause). yo pass the SAS

@6 - Not sure where you're getting the terrible battery life for the 360. The NiCD packs last me a solid 4 or 5 hours. Like the name, but I'll miss rumble.
Malik @ Sep 28th 2006 10:23AM
Horrendous battery life on 360 controllers? Do you own one? 2 Duracells last at least 20-30 hours for me every time. I would say that the battery life, while supporting wireless, rumble and a headset is pretty damned good.
Will @ Nov 26th 2006 11:23PM
FYI, the controller gets a 30 hour battery life, after a 2.5 hour charge. So unless you play more than 21.5 hours of day you will always have a charge, and not have to fuss will batteries. The is also the option of connecting the controller to the system itself, so you can play and charge. BTW the rumble will probably be restored in a year, they had to take it out do to a legal problem with the creators of the rumble. On the subject of head sets, they work independently from the controller on both the PS3 and the 360. So Malik, where did you come up with the notion that headsets are powered by the controller. If that was the case that power would be 10-15 hours...MAX.!
