Get your PS3 peripherals while they're hot!
Three, count 'em, three peripherals have been named, displayed, and priced. What are they? First, the wireless controller. It will be retailed for about 5,000 yen... don't worry! You still get one with your PS3! Secondly, we have the remote control that uses Bluetooth technology to interact with the PS3. The lovely BD Remote Controller costs about 3,600 yen. This little extra item won't be released until a little after the November 17th launch date -- about December 7th.
Finally and most importantly for long-time Sony gamers is the Memory Card Adapter. This lovely one-time-use device transfers all your memory card data from PS2 and PSX onto the PS3 hard drive via USB. It's going to cost about 1,500 yen. Which is entirely understandable for a single use peripheral. If you want all of these accessories, it seems like it'll tack on an extra $100 when these are released in the US. Ouch, but a necessary evil.

Actually that's not a bad price for those accessories, they're roughly $42, $30 and $12 dollar respectively, not bad at all, considering a full Wii-mote sets ya back 60 and a wireless 360 controller sets ya back 50.

Sweet lookin stuff.. I'm going all out with my PS3 my spending limit is probably $1,000 so i should have enough for enough toys to keep my busy for a long time.

i wonder what that 5000 yen is going to translate to when the controller hits state side. looking at current trends in accesory and system pricing from all sides i would expect a $50 controller (maybe, and hopefully $45) when it comes over here.

Any idea if the Memory Card Adapter will be compatible with the Pocketstation?

i also get the feeling that sony isn't trying to pull a microsoft and make big profits off the accessories either. the profit margin has to be smaller. even if the sixaxis is $50 there's no way that the 360 controller with a set of mini electric motors costs as much as the precision accelerometers in the ps3 controller.

So am I going to have to buy 5 memory card adaptors to transfer all of my saved game data? lame.
Cheers!

@Deth: You need one memory card adapter... Promise me you will never design a bridge in my town any time soon. I'd hate to see that intelligence used for public works projects.

This is good news. At least we will be able to keep playing ps2 games on the ps3 without having to recall the good ole days of saving your progress. I can't wait until the launch date. I guess I'll be taking off Thursday November 16th to reserve my slab of sidewalk outside EB or gamestop for Friday the 17th to make sure I get my PS3!

This adapter is the single best accessory on the PS3. Much like a PC, you can enjoy your whole game library on one system. The Wii comes close to this functionality, but without a cartridge adapter, we are forced to download games we already own if we don't want to hook up our old SNES, NES, N64, ect.

Where the hell is a usb adaptor for PS2 controllers? I wanna play Guitar Hero! Anybody know if the PS3 will output (upscale) PS2 games in 720p so the delay on my DLP won't affect them?
