PS3 available for pre-order

And so it begins. Everyone's favorite importer, Lik-Sang, announced today that they are accepting pre-orders on the legendary PS3 and about 20 PS3 games. Well, technically it's more of a "first come, first serve" waiting list:
"Virtually place yourself in the waiting line at Japanese videogame shops and let Lik Sang do the dirty work for you. Conditions are quite flexible and there is strictly no money involved. No need to wait for the department store next door to finally get its stock a year later. The price at Lik-Sang.com will remain $0 until we have secured the best possible purchase prices, as many units as possible, and until further details emerge from our suppliers all around the world."
It won't cost you a dime to get into Lik-Sang's virtual line, but it will cost you when you're actually able to complete your order:
"Extra note: Be prepared that the day-1 prices will be much higher than the manufacturers suggested retail price. Experienced and veteran hardcore gamers, who are not importing a system for the first time, know that buying a PS3 at launch or a PSP at launch is not the same thing as simply buying a mere PlayStation 3 or a random PSP off some supermarket shelf. You're paying for the privilege of getting it two months before the massive overflow."
Yeah. I'll take my chances at Best Buy.

honestly, i think this ebay thing will be short lived, i think that people have learned a lesson from last years 360 launch, and analyists are saying that sony should make its 2mil end of year and 6 milion march 07 forcasts. maybe not too many ps3's in november, but expect a nice dump of new consoles in the close weeks thereafter. if people want to pay $1200 so they can show off for 1-2 months to the neighbors so be it. let them waste their money.
anyway, this Lik-Sang thing seems like a rip-off and an unsure bet. better off placing an order for a gaming bundle at gamestop.com (not that i would)or getting real buddy buddy with a mom and pop store manager who can order one for you.

Don't get mad at the ebay sellers. Someone is obviously stupid enough to overpay for the item in the first place. Blame the buyers, not the sellers.
Also, the buyers are likely gamers so your point is moot anyway!
If I cared to go through the hassle of getting a PS3 at launch, I'd probably check it out for a few days and then sell it on ebay as well. The games I want aren't out yet, so what's the rush?
To be honest, I wasn't in a rush to get the 360 either. My girlfriend insisted on waiting in line all night to get me one and be the first person there. I told her not to, but she did it anyway. I was definitely glad to have it though.
She won't be doing it for either the Wii or the PS3 this year. She learned her lesson. LOL
