"Remote Play" function explored!
So we got a lot of comments asking what this "Remote Play" feature was on the PS3 as listed on its translated interface menu. Thanks to our fellow Sony-addicts over at PSPFanboy, we've got a little more to tell you. With "Remote Play", you can stream data onto your PSP from your PS3 -- both video and game content. Does this mean you can take your PSP into the bathroom and continue playing the PS3 game in a more, erm, private setting? No time to waste, right? We're not sure if you can do that yet, but it seems fairly likely, so long as the image is all that's depicted on the PSP, leaving all the processing for the bigger, badder PS3 a room away. Will we be able to stream Blu-ray movies onto the PSP, or UMD movies onto the PS3? Don't really know. But we do know that this capability is thanks to Wi-Fi, meaning you'll have to scrounge up that extra $100 for the premium PS3. Not like you'll find any of the 20GB models anyway. So there's your answer! Remote Play is streaming data between PSP's and the PS3.

What is it about moronic xbots, that they cant help themselves.
What the hell has this got to do with Live Anywhere?
Can you watch films on the toilet with L.A.? yeh, well bully for you.
Can you access your 360's harddrive from the other side of the planet? Yeh, well I'm in ecstasy for you.
Does it stop you from from being a tit? Unfortunately not.

You don't need to have wifi or the (60GB) model to use this feature, you just have to have the PS3 networked which , just like the location free player. So you can do this with the (20GB) version if you wanted, although you would need wifi on your home router to connect the PSP to it while you're at home.

I am the ultimate evil, I am a 360/Wii/PS3fanboy, not in any order. This is the ultimate shiz-nit. I cant believe it this is great. With my blue-tooth for my 360, when nature calls all I can do is keep performing spells to increase my levels in Oblivion (which I cant wait to see on the PS3), With this I can *cough* remote desktop *cough* to my television and continue to play my game, What an AWESOME world we live in.

I figure you have about a year to wait to actually see this happen.

you do get the concept of streaming content right?
that's the concept being discussed... try and keep up.

Kevin, what are you talking about needing to fit a blu-ray movie onto a memory stick? what belz was refering to when he said:
"Can you watch films on the toilet with L.A.? yeh, well bully for you."
was that with the remote play feature you could stream a blu-ray movie playing on your PS3 onto your PSP (and could therefore be sitting on the can while you watched).

Notice the name of the site, PS3fanboy...
So you 360/Wii fanboys look like idiots posting comments here. So why is it that your here? Either your a hypocrite and plan on buying a system or you have nothing better to do than rant and rave about how bad the PS3 is. If your systems are so interesting, why aren't some of you on your own fansites.

Sorry to be a killjoy but sadly PS3 on PSP gaming won't happen. No motion sensor for a start (though that could be fixed with a peripheral) and a lack of buttons. With half the shoulder buttons and only one analog stick the games would be imppossible to play even if the transmission of the visuals is technically possible. Shame, it would have been awesome too.
Soma @ Oct 5th 2006 2:28AM
@11
minimal play would still be fun... theres plenty of games out there im sure that you can get by with only psp buttons.. also remember that the psp was largely considered during develpoment in the ps3, so im sure they thought of that(ways to associate different ps3 buttons to the psp buttons maybe?)
Also remember that Gran Tourismo can use the psp for a rear view mirror (lol) im sure yourll see more stuff like that.
Maps, stats, HUD... iono we'll see right?
