Rumor: VirtualPSP lets you play PSP games on you PC

The homebrew scene never fails to amaze me. The most noteworthy project on the scene, next to the virtual touch screen, has to be "VirtualPSP" a PSP emulator for the PC. S!ms, the programmer, posted a few pictures over at DCEmu, but as you know, in the homebrew world, pictures usually mean nothing. Here's an excerpt from the post he wrote:
I am working on a PSP Emulator for the PC (32bit currently), called VirtualPSP. It is a fully working PSP, but now on your PC... As you see it is working, but it runs very slow. Maybe it is my PC (1.3Ghz/256MB RAM), but i'll try to fix this and let some people try. Online play (infrastructure) will be available too, all connecting Peer to Peer. (My server will function as a main host). I need some time to get this fully working though. I can connect to my LAN pc's, but it freezes when the game's loading. I'll try to fix this anyway. Maybe i can add Ad-hoc function through the internet? (Like KAI) And no, i'm not gonna release this *yet*.We'll see where this goes. While we don't support piracy here at the Fanboy, it's always interesting to see how far fans can push their technical skills. Stay tuned for more.

Wow i was thinking how cool would be using my PSP on my Pc a few seconds ago before clicking on PSPfanboy.com.Well this is not what i have in mind,it was more connecting my PSP to my Pc somehow so i can play the games on my pc or on the go.
I wasnt thinking on emulate games, but play the original on my Pc.
Anyway ,this alone is more impresive than the Ps3-PSP connectivity.

I have a Dual Core 3.0GHz and 1GB of RAM if you want me to test it out on my PC, cause you said "Maybe it is my PC (1.3Ghz/256MB RAM)"

Actually, if you go to the site where the person originally posted this "news", it has pretty much been proven as a fake. I just went through all 21 pages of the thread and came up with this; the guy wouldn't provide any further proof and when he was asked some questions regarding the techniques he was using, he posted techniques for another language under another OS. Soooooooooo, the excitement in this has been extinguished.

Well it was about time to get an emulator , but who cares , emulators are full of bugs , and I deffinatly play PSP games on the PSP , and NOT on the PC . But yeah , there are chances that this is fake .

"he posted techniques for another language under another OS"
another? Well, I'd be interested to know, this language and OS of his is other than what? I hear, somewhere, that it's written in java, and by the looks of the gui, propably some modification of XWindow. I've seen only claim about these being 32-bit PC as the target system. Please don't flame me or anything like that, instead, if you know better, please inform me.
I'm just not sure, how this just popped out of nowhere.. And, if I were doing an emu, I wouldn't think first of booting software through the emulated machines original OS, but well, what do I know?
riine @ Oct 10th 2006 10:45AM
@ Tomppa
it seemed that there were quite a few coders on the site and when they asked him questions to prove that he and his emulator were legit, he gave answers that drew more inquiry and more skeptics. one of the answers he gave, he posted a link to some programming technique or style and when it was examined by those coders, it was for another OS and in a different language. they saw this as the final strike and dismissed his credibility. feel free to go through the thread yourself, it's interesting.

Thanks to all the people that did some research and debunked this! Too bad, it seemed a little exciting as well.

would be very cool to have an psp emulator for the pc, making it quick and easy to test out all the homebrew out there.
i have my doubts tho, not sure why an emulator would have a battery indicator! (see the screenshot above)

CLEAR NOW ? GOT IT ?
Sorry for that rude behaviour, but maybe this way other guys will read this first and will not ask about details of that non-existing Emu. Spreading of such "News" must be stopped.
The truth is: It is not interesting to see, how far fans can push their technical skills but how far they go to get any attention. And what is even more interesting is, how most Admins of psp-Websites just believe their words and post them as "facts" while a little research and reading through that thread could have prevented such an embarassing and fan-confusing situation. Don't take it personal Mr. Yoon - you are far from being the only one to do so. I don't want to reproach anyone. I just want things to get better in the future because I am sick of those fake-freaks. Ask the guys at DCEmu - they can tell.
