Can't wait to get your hands on another version of the gritty, grim, grimy, greasy (?) battles of World War II? Didn't get enough of that insane FPS action in the last
Call of Duty or
Medal of Honor title? Even so... is the thrill of playing through, arguably, the same battles in a different lens not enough? How about some massive online multiplayer mayhem?
Call of Duty 3 has been confirmed to give you just that upon the PS3's launch. Currently, the 24-player matches are running at an estimated 30 frames per second on the PS3, but that's not only 1) a rough estimate by simply seeing the game but also 2) not a finalized system. Still, 30 shouldn't be too bad, should it? Whatever. Commence the useless FPS/FPS flame war.

I'll believe it when I see it. But EA typically has it's own servers. Tony Hawk and that Tennis game are probably made by developers that don't have much experience in online functionality yet alone their own servers.

tony hawk and that tennis game? ....well considering tony hawk is made by treyarch as is this version of call of duty, and call of duty finest hour, i would assume they have enough online cred. what tennis game are you talking about?
also call of duty 3 is published by activision...thats enough online cred. to fill a warehouse, besides all that, you are right about EA using their own servers, as does every developer/publisher that has made an online game for ps2 and soon to be ps3. the ps3 online is going to be EXACTLY the same. online ACCESS is free, not GAMING. trust me i know i sat through an hour long sony conference last week. now, even on xbox live EA somehow made it where they can use their own servers as well, but once again, sony WILL NOT have dedicated servers for a unified structure like xbox live.
as for tony hawk not having online play...it basically comes down to them not having enough time to add it in since sony would not share any info when they needed it. tony hawk has already gone gold and is sitting in warehouses. the finished game is actually really fun (also played that last week, along with marvel ultimate alliance, call of duty 3, and guitar hero2. pretty much anything with the activision name on it) for once tony hawk has a refreshing new mode like in burnout you have to crash cars....well in this mode you have to see how bad you can hurt yourself!
back on topic...call of duty 3 looks and plays phenomenal, i am really impressed at the jump in gameplay and graphics from last year, of course i played the 360 version (they look identical)
