The PS3 gets rumble
Just yesterday we were praying for PS3 rumble functionality. Of course, that set off an immediate flame war that still rages on (join in!), but it appears that our wish may have been granted. A mysterious product listing has popped up over at Ebgames that describes a magic "PS3/PS2 Controller Adapter." It's due out from the fine folks at Pelican in December and will alledgedly retail for a measly $4.99. We've added a couple of these to our PS3 shopping list. [Thanks Dustin]

How?
PS3 controller is completely wireless; even when you hook it up to the PS3, there is no communications going on along the wire, you are just providing power to the controller (which communicated via BT).

Well... you know games have to be programmed for rumble right? All this will allow you to do is (maybe) get rumble on ps2 games you're playing. And that's only if Sony built in the data pass-along.
You know why this is cool though? Means I don't need to buy a new Guitar Hero guitar.
Woot!

yea im pretty sure this is just something like the memory card adapter. all it probably does is allow you to use dualshock/dualshock 2 so you can better play PS/PS2 games on the PS3. like Colin said, the rumble feature is writen into the code of the game, it has nothing to do with the hardware. this more than likely is nothing to get too terribly excited over. but still interesting none the less.

To Caramella Bongo ... how are you today? It's a PS2 to USB mostly likey. The PS3 does have USB ports. Im hopefull because I want to use my guitar for guitar hero 2. (No Problem for sending it in)

Are you kidding me? PS3 gets rumble my ass. More like PS3 gets an adapter to hookup old ratty controllers even though unfortunatley the new controller is not much different.
No new games will have rumble functionality.

I wonder what ppl's comments were when the news that wavebird didn't have rumble feature came out...

It's sad that the PS3 has no rumble and it's sad that the wii won't output HD. Meanwhile I can enjoy glorious HD vibrations on my 360, running "backups" even.
For the record I intend to get both a PS3 and Wii also.

Well like many of you have pointed out that the rumble feature needs to be prgrammed into the game......since ps3 has opnline service the developers could just bring out a patch to add rumble feature if they wanted.

I'm excited to at least have a way to enjoy a rumble option. Hopefully at least the ports from 360/Wii/PC will retain the rumble coding.
A bigger problem with using a Dualshock is that it won't have the analog triggers. The motion control could be an issue as well if it matters (which I don't think it will for games that have rumble).
There's some good news for the PS3 today (finally).

#8 "since ps3 has online service the developers could just bring out a patch to add rumble feature if they wanted."
You know they never would though. Especially for a third party device.
