Top 10 list of PS3 launch predictions -- it's cute fun
When we say cute fun, we aren't trying to belittle the original author -- it is cute and it is fun. It made us laugh and we'll give you the list here, but if you want to read more about any particular object, we're going to force you to look at the original listing. - PS3's will go on sale on eBay for over $3000.
- Retail employees are going to be very popular people after November 17th.
- Hardware horror stories will be rampant.
- flOw isn't going to be the PS3's Geometry Wars (but I think Blast Factor will come close!)
- Resistance: Fall of Man is going to do well but not as well as Call of Duty 2 did for the 360 launch.
- Crab monster jokes will populate nearly every single Genji II review (so true... so true).
- People won't really miss the rumble as much as they think they will.
- The motion sensing component of the controller is going to go over better than expected but it won't go over as well as the Wii.
- Sony's new online service is going to be better than people expect but still fall short of XBox Live. People will forgive this as it is free.
- Sony has one last surprise left up its sleeves related to their online service and it may be access to the vast Sony music and video library (probably).
That's it! It's all fairly standard supposition, but it works and we agree. What do you guys think?
[thanks, Charles!]

I think people will miss rumble greatly and force Sony to settle.

So very very ture
I think that rumble feature wont be missed too much. every person I know who has a GC favors the wavebird over the standard controller the wave bird, what does that say about rumble?

Sony will not deliver all the PS3s they promised (2 million by the end of the year).

I agree rumble will be missed, after all the spin has died reality will set in. Probably be able to buy it from a third party.
Funny thing will be standing in line for days to get your ps3 and looking across the isle and seeing gears of war as it compares to launch titles, ok that really isn’t funny, just brings a tear to fanboy's lil eyes.
"but but we have resistance fall of man," yes you do THANK GOD

mixed feelings about 7, while lately iv'e been turning vibration off in my ps2 games so see if i really miss it, the only one where i seem to do was in NFS MW when driving over rough terrain. aside from that, i wasn't all too hurt.
i still think it's stupid it's not in the sixaxis, i never believe in going backwards, but i can survive without.

Bill Gates actually pre ordered all the PS3's. Then he throws them in the Boston Harbor.

"People won't really miss the rumble as much as they think they will."
for me it's a big deal.
Rumble gives the player tactile feedback, it just completes the two other senses, visual and auditive.
A racing game is so much more immersive when you feel when you're actually losing grip. Or when you're in cockpit view, it's so cool to just "feel" when the tires are going over the curb.
Also take a game like splintercell with the immersive lock picking minigames (vibration based).
Sure you can live without rumble, like you can make games with no DB5.1 audio or with 256 color palette.

I've been playing without rumble for about a month now and honestly .... I don't notice it while I'm playing. Main 2 games I play are Burnout Revenge and Metal Gear Solid 3 On-line.

I actually hate rumble and turn it off anyway. It never seems right and it's always been a comment when I have friends over. "Dude, how do I turn this shaking off?"

As someone who normally plays games on the computer I'm glad the PS3 won't have rumble. I'm not usually big on console games, but I want to get the PS3 as it looks amazing. But anyway, whenever I played PS2 the rumble would always piss me off because I wasn't used to my input device shaking. Plus, its so fake it really doesn't add any realism.

1. I hope not, but it wouldn't surprise me.
2. You bet they will! Having first dibs on store units is a killer!
3. Of course you'll get horror stories. What the hard part will be is a) how many will be caused by operator error/clumsiness/overexcitedness, and b) how many stories will be made up by the hater-brigade?
4. If they price them right, there is plenty of scope for a cult downloadable game. Good on 'em.
5. I think Resistance will be just as popular as COD2, if not more so.
6. I cannot comment on this.
7. I think this is true. I for one have had the rumble turned off on my PS2 controller because I found it distracting at times. It certainly didn't add to my feeling of immersiveness of the game.
8. A hard statement to comment on. The impressions of a controller technology compared to the very basis of a whole other console. I don't doubt Nintendo fans will be plenty vocal to sing praises for their machine, and so they should.
9. I actually think Sony could surpise a lot of people here who expect them to fail. I think the PSN is going to take a few months to find its feet, and then it will take off. XBL is a good service, but that doesn't mean it will always be the best. I expect Microsoft to cut online play to nil fee in response to Sony.
10. I'm sure Sony have more tricks up their sleeves, if not right away, then during the life of the console.

It's sad that even when PS3 FANBOY is predicting a mediocre system overall.
