Virtua Tennis 3 to use SIXAXIS tilt -- it's Love-Love!
Ha, ha, ha... get it? Love-Love? It's like win-win, but in complete tennis lingo... which means zero-zero... but love is always good, right? It almost worked. Ahem, anyway. SEGA and their PS3 version of Virtua Tennis 3 have been confirmed to take advantage of the tilt function to "move around the court and play shots." Here's the kicker (and a personal thumb-up for this... hopefully the Wii will do this too on some games): this is an option, not a mandatory gameplay feature.Moving around the court isn't the only thing you can do with the tilt magic. Seems you'll also be able to serve the ball and use the controller like a tennis racket to make specific shots -- upwards swing for a lob, quickly down to slice, horizontally for some top spin. It's almost like the Wii, but... not quite. Watch for this title to roll around in Spring '07.

I don't understand why Eurogamer said that the SIXAXIS tilt function was "obviously" an option. The designers at SEGA (or even Sony, through pressure to flaunt the SIXAXIS) could have easily made this a "requirement". I think including it as a choice was a good decision. If the tilt functionality turned out awful, and you couldn't turn it off, that would have single-handedly ruined the game.
On another note, how will you use tilt functionality to move your player AND hit the ball at the same time??? If you try to swing, wouldn't your player stop short of reaching the ball? Now I'm really curious how it'll play out...

Good. This is the option that Sony needs to keep in mind in EVERY situation with the sixaxis. Sony has positioned themselves in between Xbox and Wii (a place they are not used to being I might add) and that feature will allow them to appeal to both the gimmick-oriented (read casual) and the hardcore.

It's been confirmed that the Wii will have options for turning off the motion sensing, such as the bow in Zelda: TP. I still think Tennis will be much more realistic on Wii, you know, GAMEPLAY wise (the factor that actually matters), not graphically.

The closest thing to 'real' tennis Wii will have is Mario Tennis Wii... cause thats what wiitards eat up.

Sorry guys, (posts 6 and 7) but you have no concept of the true power of motion sensing. Wii will offer more realistic playability to actually let you hold the tennis racket and swing it too, while with SIXAXIS, you can only tilt it like one. The fact that you dislike it either means you just hate revolution, or you've never played it before. I've been to Nintendo's world tour and the Wiimote is amazing for tennis, golf, and shooters. My friend played both Ps3 and Wii, and says that even though PS3 has amazing graphics, Wii is WAY more fun. I'd rather have a console with decent graphics and great gameplay than amazing graphics and decent gameplay. Don't judge a book by it's cover, or you'll waste a lot of money. Also, if you really think PS3 is the best, go to gametrailers.com and watch their Bonus Round videos, especially part 2. They dis Sony so badly, it's "real" funny.
