If you haven't already set up camp outside your local Best Buy in an attempt to snag your PS3 upon launch, it may be too late. This is, of course, a rumor, so we'll treat it as such. Let's consider it a "what if" situation, really. Apparently an employee at a Best Buy let slip that the stores will be receiving about half of what they originally expected in launch shipments. Now, according to the store manager in Athens, there was no such word from upper management in the realm of quantity -- thus the "rumor". Now, if this were true, according to Neowin, the 1.2 million due by the end of the year to North America would be cut to 600,000. That's very rough, as in not cool. What think you, gentlemen? I think it's utterly bullshit for the fact that sony KNOWS that if they don't put up the goods, good or bad that that will be the final nail in the coffin...
I read this blog as well as the PSPfanboy's and 360's blogs for the fact that i own all of the systems....but will not be able to get my beautiful ps3 till next year....
Now i feel that the 2mill mark is a decent bar...it is not exaderation of the 10 mill that M$ expected to have sold but it's a good solid mark....
If it winds up that Sony fails to deliever what they said then those that look at them will most diffently see this as a precourser to as of what will happed with the futrue....and as if the 360 fanboys don't bash the PS3 and go out of thier way to critisize Sony enough....
I take this rummor as nothing more then someone attempting to put a scare out there just because they work at "Bestbuy" credible source or not....if a shortage scare would be immient...do you have any idea how much the ps3s would go for on the net if best buy let alone the U.S. got half of the intended units...not good thats what....

I don't want any of the launch titles, nor do I have intentions to rip people off on ebay. Somehow i'm still dying to get a PS3 just to play FFXII on it and be ready for some good titles in '07. I'm considering starting to camp on Wednesday night so I hope this isn't true. This could potentially be the first console since the N64 that I haven't gotten on launch-day. Whaaaambulance. :(

If Bestbuy is receiving half doesnt mean its affecting everyone else.... not like they are only shipping to BB. It could be that they reallocated the shipments. Then again it could be like the 360 fiasco all over again... thank god i live in a crappy town with tons of old folks.

Sony cannot afford 1 000 000 Ps3s at launch in a single continent. It's too expensive, too many defects, overheats too much, barely anyone will get it.

This is a BS rumor, sorry guys! My sister is a manager at a store (not telling which one xD) and she says all shipment numbers are on track.
