Streets will be blocked off, the press will be in attendance, rock-and-roll will be played, Sony execs will try to act cool and the first Playstation 3 will be sold in North America (just ignore the fact that New York will have started selling them 3 hours earlier).

Throughout the day on Thursday, the action will center on the consumers in line, who will be treated to a mind-blowing PLAYSTATION 3 experience.
Here's the official play-by-play:
-
8:00 a.m.: Throngs of raging, hard-core gamers lining up outside and braving the elements to snag PLAYSTATION 3
-

0130 get home with PS3 unbelievably excited.
0140 plug in and boot up
0230 finish installing firmware
0231 re-boot
0250 get to title screen
0520 played solidly for 3 hrs. Realise you've just shelled out 10 mortgage payments on an ill thought out marketing managers dream with no games.
0600 after finishing crying you go to bed desperatley thinking of things you can tell your mates about the PS3 and how to diss the Wii on a Wii fanboard.
0730 sleep in your sodden pillow as the best you ever come up with was something about an emotion engine and Blu-ray (of which you'll have to buy, or everyone else will laugh at you. More so.

Midnight: First sale of PLAYSTATION 3 to an ebayer
12:15 a.m.: Interviews with lucky first ebayer to purchase PLAYSTATION 3. They get to talk about how much money they plan to make.

Chris @ Nov 13th 2006 5:47PM

Ah..
San Francisco, clam chowder, super-duper, stroke [of midnight], [treated to a mind-]blowing, raging hard-core, dramatic ...
Are you trying to say something?
The need a live feed of stores in the Eastern Time zone so they can be "salivating" and "slurping" at those that "come" first.

Sounds like a HOOT! Oh, and I just received a call from Gamestop telling me that my preorder may not arrive until the next shipment. Sony has cut their allotment down 40%, according to their manager. WTF?!
... and no, I do not mean the quirky minigame for the PSP...
sean @ Nov 13th 2006 6:33PM
you forgot to add at 12:01 am the first mugging of the first playstation 3 customer.
redspear @ Nov 13th 2006 7:03PM

Any word on how many units they'll have? I'm not too concerned about getting a system, but I wouldn't mind taking the CalTrain up there and checking it out if they have some playable games at the event!
Carl @ Nov 13th 2006 7:09PM
he wont be the first in the US. Us on the east coast will be the firsts to get one
kevin @ Nov 13th 2006 7:12PM
OK, someone really needs to explain to me how I use the password that I got in the confirmation email so I dont have to do the confirmation email every single time... I can't figure it out and it's killing me.

Wait a minute, I swear its 360 fanboys who call PS3 Fanboys sheep, yet they all say the same thing from one another, lol, an exact replica.
Sean's comment: Used before by many a 360 fanboy, BAAA!
MR Tourette: Slightly original, overall a copy, BAAAA!

Dang...Should have stayed in SF longer...haha
Naga @ Nov 14th 2006 1:33AM
Wait, if its in San Francisco wouldn't things get a little... u know... fruity, as in theres a lot of gay people in san francisco.
pixelator @ Nov 14th 2006 9:31AM
Naga, you mean compared to thinks getting a little, you know, redneck, if they held this in Arkansas or Texas? With gun toting thugs in their wifebeaters slamming the Pabst and firing into the air, peeing on the sidewalk and blasting country music? There's lots of rednecks in Texas, after all.
I think I'd rather be at the 'fruity' launch. Better food, better music, less bullets, more tech savvy and far less BO.
robert @ Nov 14th 2006 7:58PM
does anyone know how many there going to get??
joey @ Nov 15th 2006 9:31AM
San Fran?!?!?!?
Are you a tourist or something?
