Ah, launch day only seems like yesterday.
Good times.

who's fault?
I think its Sony and retailer. they knew there will system shortage during the launch. and all they did was call the police instead come up with a better plan to sell systems. compare to Japan's launch U.S. are more like bunch barbarian hunting down few white rabbits.

That video is awesome i wonder what it is going to be like when the ps3 hits our stores in the uk around March 2007, yeah baby gonna be fun.

Unbelievable!, over the top aggressive policing, which is why some of those people had their hands in the air like they were being arrested LOL. Are things really that bad over there ?

"compare to Japan's launch U.S. are more like bunch barbarian hunting down few white rabbits."
thats a joke right? i mean... people getting stomped and trampled under the hordes of thousand of people pushing and shoving... thats not worse than this?
had the cops NOT stepped in when they did, this scene would have quickly turned into one of those like japans.
El Chino @ Dec 1st 2006 10:59AM
Its sad that we live in a country in which a 2k profit is enough for people to risk getting arrested, shot or beaten up. Most people in Japan have decent jobs thats why you don't see this. I bet you that 80-90% of the people you saw in that line have no jobs (buy system with credit card then pay it back with e-bay profits) or are low-income workers in which 2K is a matter of survival.
Microdot @ Dec 1st 2006 11:19AM
el chino... you sir, are a fucking moron.
regardless of who you believe... the number of units shipped by sony were somewhere between 200,000 and 400,000. of those.... there has only been around 30-40,000 sold on ebay (half the number of wii's and a fraction of the 360's sold... but thats another story entirely). even with the extreme low number spouted by ea... thats 1 in 4 or 5 people that bought it to sell on ebay. so out of that mad rushing group... maybe 20 out of the 100 people are there to make a profit on ebay... the rest just want to play the damn system. if you believe sonys numbers... then that figure drops dramatically.
there are millions who want to PLAY the system... not just profit from it. to group the entire world into that category is idiotic.

thats my local bestbuy. the store kinda caused that situation. what had happened was people had camped out since tuesday. by thursday morning there was like 30 people camped out. i had drove by earlier in the day then came back later in the afternoon to do some shopping and all campers were all gone. around 10am best buy kicked all the campers off their property saying property owner would not allow camping, yet just a year ago they had let xboxers camping out just fine. anywho, they told everyone come back and line up 10pm thursday night. so come 10pm, now there was a mob of 200 people, no organized line, ready to bum rush the door. just bad management from best buy. should of just took names down or something or do raffle.
zombiefreak @ Dec 1st 2006 2:40PM
Trisha,
I completely agree.
Tom Trautman @ Dec 1st 2006 5:57PM
My best buy, in Parma, OH, did very little to help out us campers. We had organized ourselves and presented our line arrangement to the store's general manager.
He replied with "who cares!" and promptly threw out our list. Only one person cut our line. It didn't effect me at all, but I feel bad for guy two places ahead of me that walked away with the core unit. Things really stunk for number 34 that waited in line for three days to get nothing.
