5 reasons to buy a PS3
Here's a first... the mainstream press is giving some kudos to the PS3. Sure, it's just the Louisville, Kentucky Courier Journal, but it's a heck of a lot better than getting dissed by the New York Times or taking whacks from the likes of Time and The Evening Bulletin. The Courier Journal sets out to give us five solid reasons for why the PS3 is worth your hard-earned
- The PS3 is a great companion for a big, flat-screen TV. If you don't have a high-definition TV with at least a 42-inch screen and a good sound system, don't bother.
-
There's a high-def DVD player inside. There are two technologies competing to put a high-definition DVD player in your house, and I can't tell you which side is going to win, Toshiba's HD DVD system or the Blu-ray discs backed by Sony and a few other companies. But if you buy a PS3, you've made your choice.
-
The PS3 loves your PSP. Sony is working on a variety of ways to deliver games, video and other content over wireless networks, and joining the PS3 with the PlayStation Portable is one of its first projects.
-
Sony's game library. If you've had a PS2 for few years, it's going to be hard to turn your back on all those games you've acquired. They will still play just fine on the PS3, while the Xbox 360 has trouble playing some earlier Xbox games.
-
New games for a new box. There's no "Halo," the game that jump-started the Xbox, doing the same for the PS3. But "Resistance: Fall of Man," a PS3 exclusive, comes pretty close.

wow telling someone without a high-definition TV with at least a 42-inch screen and a good sound system, don't bother. Kind of puts alot of people out.

I was interested in buying a PS3, it's just I still am not sure if a PS3 is worth my $600. I kept trying to find games that I absolutely needed that I couldnt already get on my 360, but I could only come up with a few that Im interested in: MGS4, Motorstorm, The Naughty Dog Project, and POSSIBlY Resistance. Now, I think Im going to be getting a Wii insted this holiday. You need to come up with GOOD reasons; Not many people have big TV's and nice sound systems including me, I couldnt give less of a crap about Blu Ray/HD DVD, I dont have a PSP and there are no reasons to buy one because A. The games all suck and B. Who the hell plays handheld games? Now onto the 4th "reason": I still have a working PS2 and I can play all my PS1 and PS2 games on that without spending a cent. Finally, there are only 5 games that I could find that would be considered system sellers (and thats a freakin stretch). Im not a fanboy for anybody by a long shot, it's just you need to come up with some reasons to buy a PS3, not to sell Blu Ray. Systems are about games, and I can play all the big games going to PS3 and more on my 360. I look at if a system can come up with enough games that Im interested in buying and there is enough of those games that I would be spending more on those games than I did on the console, then the system is a success. I havent found that with the PS3 yet, and I have with the 360 and Wii. CONVINCE ME.
Ninegauger @ Dec 9th 2006 6:32PM
You know I'm pretty sure my PS2 plays my PS2 games just fine. What an awful list, is that the best they could come up with?

Re: 1
Folks used to kid that the 360 was actually much more expensive because of these upgrades. The same holds true for the PS3 except that your wallet is more than $200 lighter.
Re: 2
This is only relevant if you satisfy the requirements of #1. Sir, I am in the store to buy a game console, NOT an HD disc player.
Re: 3
I traded in my Sony PSP today along with 5 games and some accessories. I put the whole lot against the Microsoft XBox Wireless Steering wheel. The GameStop employee validated my own opinion -- "The PSP is a dead system". The best thing that I can say about the PS3 is that it at least revitalizes the handheld in its twighlight. Of course, the downloadable games also hit home how the limited control scheme (on analog nub) continues to cripple the PSP platform. I wish Sony would have given us what we wanted -- a portable PS2.
Re: 4
Echoing the comments of GoSox, backwards compatibility doesn't matter if you still have a previous generation console still around. Given that there are backwards compatibility issues with key titles like Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy, the PS3 isn't the best path to playing PS2 games. You could always buy a 360 and a new Slim PS2.
Re: 5
EXACTLY. That's what I've been able to do on my 360 since last November. Unfortunately, the PS3 launch line-up with the exception of RFOM is a total f'ing wasteland. RFOM isn't strong enough to carry the PS3.
So, as someone who plans to buy one when the "software" actually arrives, here are reasons to wait.
#1: Bluetooth controllers drop connections
There's a hardware problem here. Let Sony fix it and avoid being frustrated every hour or so as you get lagged. Cable-based Pairing is ridiculous.
#2: Video Hardware Issues
Unlike the 360, Sony didn't include a hardware scaler. Maybe they'll add one, maybe they'll put a cell to work, but right now your image quality will vary based upon your TV set. You need better than a 42" TV. You need one that the PS3 "likes".
#3: Half-baked Online Gaming
Playstation Network may be an XBox Live killer, but we have yet to see it emerge. RFOM implemented there own. Online gaming support is non-existent outside of the first-party titles. Playstation Network isn't here until 3rd party titles support online play.
#4: No titles worth your time
After you finish RFOM and get bored of slogging it out online, you're done. Maybe you'll squeeze everything you can out of the Motorstorm demo. Aside from that, it's a wasteland of ports of 360 titles from spring/summer and exclusives that couldn't fly anywhere else. Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy -- the franchises that have you buying a PS3 won't be hear until late 2007 or even 2008.
#5 Unobtainium
Unless you were one of the 197k in the US, you don't have one. You can't buy one in time for Christmas. What the hell are you going to do during that week off from work or school? Play PS2 games. No. You'll be playing your Wii or 360.

hey booooo, an TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Instead of those hyper intelligent responses why not take five minutes and argue the points he has presented.
If I were someone who was on the fence about buying a next gen console and ready his comments and then the only response from the Sony fan base was that, it would seriously make me wonder if the PS3 was a good choice.
I am not saying that I agree with all his points, but I do feel he has some valid concerns.
Hired.Geek @ Dec 10th 2006 11:46AM
4. Re: 1
This one I will argue with. If you compare apples to apples so here is my comparison.
20 gig HD 20 gig HD $399
One Controller One Controller
No wireless No Wireless
Blu-Ray Drive $499 HD-DVD Drive $199
Blu-Ray Remove $31 HD-DVD remote
--------------------- ---------------------
Total $530 Total $598
Now if you have no interest in watching HD movies the Xbox does give you the option not to buy the HD drive where as with the PS3 you will get it no matter what. But if you compare exact products I do not feel the Xbox is cheaper then the PS3.
Re: 3
If the PSP is truly dead please do not say it too loud, because the producers of Kill Zone liberation, and Metal Gear Solid: Portable OPS do not know yet, and they are producing outstanding products for this “Dead System”.
Re: 4
This is one where I think you are absolutely dead wrong! Sony has done an outstanding job of making the PS2 library available to PS3 owners. I would say that half if not two thirds of my Xbox 1 titles still can not be played on the Xbox 360 and I am talking about big titles like Prince of Persia, Brothers in Arms, Midnight Club DUB edition, Elders scrolls 3: Morrow. Yes there are a very small percentage of PS2 titles that the PS3 can not play but that percentage is much smaller then the Xbox 360.
And as to your other comment, I do not have an endless source of money to get two HD TVs to support putting my last gen consoles on, nor do I have the space. And the one HD TV that I do have is already filling up with the Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3.
Re: 5
Well I will agree that RFOM is not even comparable to the HALO series. The line of for the Xbox 360 was equally as dismal. EA cranked out some real stripped down crappy games in which there was more content for the last gen consoles then the 360. The only game that I thought was really worth playing at launch was Call of Duty 2. Now with one year head start the catalog for the 360 currently does look a little more then the current PS3 catalog. But only time will tell which catalog is got better games.
So, as someone who plans to buy one when the "software" actually arrives, here are reasons to wait.
#1: Bluetooth controllers drop connections
This is the first I have heard of this, but OK I am sure that is a firmware fix that will come soon enough. Also is this something that happens every ten minutes or does it happen once in a while or once every 75 hours of play?
#2: Video Hardware Issues
This is a true issue that the PS3 needs to get resolved right away. Especially since most of their advertising is about being HD.
#3: Half-baked Online Gaming
You know since my PS3 is still in the box, I am not sure about this. I have not heard great out cries over the Internet on blog sites and forums so I am really wondering if this is a valid point. I would think that if the online component was not working properly that would be something allot of people would be quite upset about.
#4: No titles worth your time
You know entertainment is such a subjective subject. The person who loves FPS will think that the Final Fantasy series may suck. While the person who loves the RPG may think that the FPS sucks. People will vary greatly one Video Games, TV shows, and movies, and magazines. So I do not think this is a valid point either. You may think there are no great titles for the PS3 but many here may really like Genji, MotoStorm, Devil May Cry.
#5 Unobtainium
The PS3 is very hard to get but honestly if you really want one they are not selling for that much on Ebay. When I got mine I thought hey if I can get someone who really wants this thing to pay me extra to have it now so be it. But if no one wants to pay extra for it I will keep it. Mine is listed for $735 for the 20 gig. From what I have seen they are selling for about $200 over what you can buy them in the store for. But if you are a true fan and really want a PS3 they are available.
GhostDoggy @ Dec 10th 2006 12:19PM
I have nothing against the PS3. I own the 360 and plan on buying the PS3 as well, but the list in this newsbit could be applied to any platform capable of playing current games in HD, really. Other than the PSP-aspect (which I do not own, personally), I am not seeing anything news-worthy here.
BTW, since the key to Blu-ray movie titles is 1080p24 encoding, it would be nice to see how many people can a) actually get 1080p24 out of any Blu-ray player, and then match them against those with displays that can b) accept a 1080p24 signal, and also c) display 1920x1080.
It would be terrific, too, if all of the games are natively rendered in 1080P, but I doubt that is going to work as it might complicate reduced resolution display users (those with 720P displays).
Now, if the PS3 was in general inventory I'd go out and buy one.

lol @ Dec 10th 2006 6:13PM
Ps3 haters here are morons. A true gamer can't possibly disregard PS3, especially if he enjoyed many of the exclusives found in PS1 and PS2. Here are more reasons to get a PS3 *right now*:
1. If you want a media center connected to your TV, PS3 is your choice. Just add Linux to it and you can do everything you want, media-wise. This includes HD-movie playback, and dumping everything on a hard drive, including games, so no need to use the discs anymore. No need to wait for firmware updates. This is much better than the 360 alternative which (doesn't quite) lets you play WMV, and a few other formats but not all. Not to mention it doesn't even have HDMI output.
If you are worried about Blu-ray losing the format war, remember that by making the choice to go with Blu-ray strengthens the format. Even if the format manages to lose with a relatively high installed base, It's doubtful that Sony, with Fox and Disney will let go so easily. If the loss is inminent, Sony could simply release a dual-format player, and keep releasing movies on blu-ray, yet their players can play both formats, and your movies still work. That would force the industry to keep supporting Blu-ray, since there are players that can play all movies, yet there are movies that can only play on those (Sony and MGM, which have too many big hits to be ignored).
2. Online gaming: Resistance Fall of Man online is great. Seriously, "half-baked" online? You probably don't own a PS3. 40 player matches are awesome. What do you get on 360? Wow, 8 players on Gears of War. "But think about TEH GRAFIXXX!!!11".
3. Arcade Games: Lemmings, Blast Factor and Flow are fun.
4. Offline gaming: Resistance's campaign is considerably longer than the one you find in Gears of War.
5. Superior Multiplatform games. As an example, Fight Night for PS3 is superior to its 360 counterpart, such as having extra modes. It doesn't have rumble, but gyrosopic features are interactive; rumble is not.
6. A cheap PC alternative. Again, just install Yellow Dog Linux which comes with OpenOffice, and Voila, you can work on your PS3. You can pretty much use any keyboard and mouse with it, and navigate the net to do some research or do whatever. And again, since it has Linux, you can use nearly any printer you want. Hell, when portable HD-DVD drives come out, why not use one in it, in case you want to use both formats?
7. Backward Compatibility. If you think both PS3 and 360 are very similar and want either of the two already, yet you have a collection of PS2 (and PS1) games, why disregard it? Why play on two consoles when you can play everything on one? Hell, even if you had an Xbox, its games aren't compatible (mostly) on Xbox 360. Even if they were, it doesn't have as many great exclusives that you possibly missed. Again, if you had just an Xbox (or a gamecube) and you're thinking about getting any of the two next-gen consoles (note: I consider Wii "new-gen", not next-gen), then you might as well get a PS3 for everything you missed on PS2 (besides other reasons, of course).
Here are reasons to buy a PS3 later on:
1. More great PS3 games: I'm going to do what some Xbox 360 fanboys love to do, which is mention exclusive games and take their quality for granted. So, here are reasons to get a PS3 in a not so distant future: Devil May Cry 4, L.A. Noire, MotorStorm, Warhawk, FFXIII, FFXIII Versus, Metal Gear Solid 4, Virtua Fighter 5, Lair, Heavenly Sword, Killzone 3, The Getaway 3.
2. Media Downloads. Since Sony owns huge movie and music studios, I expect more content on its online store than the one on Xbox 360.
3. Firmware Updates. Whatever PS3 is missing right now (without the use of Linux), will be ironed out in the future (I expect the big March firmware update to include a lot of things, mediawise).
4. Download PS1 and PS2 games you missed. I don't think there are many people that enjoyed every single great game on both consoles. Besides "arcade" games, I can't wait to download many games I missed on these. I don't think people should downplay these games after all, since XBLA is a huge success, and TurbographX games for Wii are enjoying the most success (don't you think it is because most people didn't get a TurbographX?).
More reasons, but they might be speculation:
-Shadow of the Colossus 2
-ICO 2
-God of War 3 (which was mentioned in an interview with God of War's creator)
-Kingdom Hearts 3 (see the KH2 secret ending and you'll see what I'm talking about)
-Final Fantasy XIV
-Final Fantasy VII Remake
A lot of games are sequels, yes, but that doesn't make them bad. Xbox 360 has some "original IP", but that doesn't mean original gameplay. Hell, Wii's most important games are Zelda, Mario and Metroid.
If you are really hardcore of a gamer, you'll get all 3 consoles. The way I see it, for people that'll get a single console, if you want the best of single player and media entertainment, you'll get a PS3. If you want the best of online multiplayer, you'll get a 360 (although both will have their great multiplayer and single player games respectively). If you want to save some buck (or some "original" companion for your next-gen games) get a Wii (but to be honest, I don't think it's going to be so big, considering Nintendo's image is too "Kid friendly", that its price advantage won't last long, and that it'll be mostly a fad).
Big Ed @ Dec 10th 2006 6:46PM

Yes I'm a playstation fan. Just because I don't accept your childish rants like some people would doesn't make me Sony hater.

"If you want a media center connected to your TV, PS3 is your choice."
If you want a media centre "PC" is the choice and why on earth would I use a PS3 ?.
Can't even be bothered to go into the Blueray - HDDVD argument as I like most people never bothered using the PS2 or Xbox 1 as a DVD player anyway and I can see this trend continuing on the new consoles to, mind you at least 360 ownwers have the "choice" of buying the HDdvd if they really do want to play HD movies through a console.
"Keyboard and Mouse"
Keyboard and Mouse = a PC and it is the worse thing that can happen to any console because with the controllers it is an equal playing field, with Keyboard and "mouse" the more money you have the easier it is to win (programmable mouse etc) it's as simple as that.
"40 player matches are awesome. What do you get on 360? Wow, 8 players on Gears of War."
Fact is 40 Player games are not awesome as you have hardly any communication with the other players and the game ends up feeling hollow and a shamble, even "24" player Battle field 2 on the 360 makes you feel distant from other team members.
Fact = "Gears of war" is a better game than "Resistance Fall of Man" and anything else on the PS3 of that genre and proberly will be for a long time to come, Both games were on show at the 2005 E3 show so don't even bother about production times etc.
"Fight Night for PS3 is superior to its 360 counterpart"
Well if they didn't pretty it up a "YEAR" after the 360 version was released it would be strange wouldn't it but then again look at the PS3 Ridge Racers glitches.
Sony are losing exclusive games left right and centre.
Arcade Games:
360 and Wii have bucket loads of them.
"Backward Compatibility"
Why have 2 machines etc etc etc, yer why bother with the PS3 when the PC that you are using has FAR more emulation capabilities than you PS3 will ever be allowed to have so who really cares about backward compatibilty be it apart from proberly around 3 titles that someone may want to really play over and over and over again.
"More great PS3 games"
360 has "RARES Banjo Kazooie 3" something many Wii owners will want to have to.
Blue Dragon
Lost Odyssey
Bio Shock
Mass Effect
Lost Planet
Halo 3
Project Gotham 4
Forza 2
etc etc etc
"More reasons, but they might be speculation"
Well that is just that it's speculation
"If you are really hardcore of a gamer, you'll get all 3 consoles"
I don't agree If you are a hardcore gamer then get the xbox 360 and the nintendo Wii as the PS3 has nothing different to offer and is only slightly lower priced than both the other two consoles added together.
If you also want a Media player then again get the 360 and the Wii and add the HDDVD when you want as you have the "choice"....

SuicideNinja @ Dec 11th 2006 2:49PM
There's one reason and the only necessary reason to NOT buy a PS3 yet.
Final Fantasy XIII isn't out yet. Everything else presented thus far (that isn't going to be on the Xbox 360) isn't that exciting.
IMO the price of both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 are going to have to come down to around $200-300 for the premium models before they'll move regularly. The Wii is even a bit high, but it's still the cheapest and offers something the other two don't: Cheap "innovative" thrills. Their innovation is a matter of perception, mostly backed by mere hype. But the consumer doesn't care.
To me, if online gaming is the preference get a 360. If going solo and watching movies is the preference, get a PS3. Everyone else should get a Wii.
vox @ Dec 11th 2006 3:09PM
"wow so many ps3 flammers! dude, theres something wrong with this."
The thing you don't realize is the flamers are annoyed PS3 fans. Everyone assumes they must be xbox360 fanboys who are here causing trouble. The fact of the matter is they are just people who Sony duped into thinking the PS3 was gonna be the best hot ticket, and now they are mad that they were duped. Why so surprised, didn't you see it coming?
Triforceowner @ Dec 11th 2006 8:04PM
Funny thing about this article... It outlines why I shouldn't purchase a PS3:
1. I won't see an HDTV until I buy a cheap small one for college, fall of 2009.(I plan ahead).
2. Since the first reason doesn't apply to me, why would this apply to me?
3. I don't have a PSP, there are too many poor reviews of the available software.
4. A PS2 is only $129.99...
5. I can live without the new PS3 titles, because I have the new 360 titles.
In short:
You may notice that a lot of the reasons these reasons don't apply to me are because of budget. I can't get an HDTV and I can't spend $600 for new titles. I'm a teen with a small budget for gaming, and this makes the PS3 not a reality for me and many others.
Hired.Geek @ Dec 12th 2006 1:37PM
#16, I have to admit you sound like a hard core Sony fan. And I agree with you on one thing. If you are someone who really enjoys playing video games, you have to plan on getting a PS3. Sony has always come to the table with some great games.
RE: 1:
I am not really sure about running Linux on my game console. I have not tried it but, I also am not really exicted about having a keyboard and mouse laying around in my living room. Now I am sure there are allot of college people out there with limited space so if the PS3 can be a computer / game console / media center for them that is a really great deal espicially when space is at a premium. As for its media capabilities I am not going to speak to that since I have not tried it. But I can say that the XBox 360 media capabilities are really nice. It just connects and plays content, and now that you can download that content right to your XBox 360 and play it is super easy.
Your right that at this moment there is no HDMI output, but really that is just a connection. The VGA connector works great, all 1080p televisions have a VGA connection and it works great!
As for all your agruements about formats, I will just make a couple of short comments. First you listed Sony, Fox, and Disney as not letting go of Blu-Ray easily. I agree that Sony will not let go with out a fight, but if sales of the movies in the Blu-Ray format are not going well Fox & Disney will drop Blu-Ray like a bad habit espeically after getting a good burn job from Sony over the UMD format. Second if you honestly beleive that Sony will release a dual-format player you are living in a dream world. Sony holds onto a dead format longer then a fat chick holds onto a melted candy bar! And the theory of well support the format now to make it strong is not really valid either. Why don't you ask all the people that used that line of logic and went out and bought Beta-Max.
RE: 2:
Well the basic online gaming is there. But since there is no way to effectivly communitcate with your team mates it really diminishes the experince of playing with a bunch of real people online. Until you play with people and hear voices and see an attack plan come together on screen, or someone runs away from a grenade when you tell them to look out, you really do not realize how great voice chat really is.
RE: 3:
I consider this to be a wash. Both the XBox 360 and PS3 have some great arcade titles. Robobliz is an absolutly incredible arcade title for the XBox 360, along with Small Arms, and others. And like you said the PS3 has Lemmings, Blast Factor, and Flow.
Reisistance maybe longer then Gears, but how does it stack up to Call of Duty 2, or Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter? So really comparing titles is not a good way to consoles. Now say if Tiger Woods Golf 2007 had more features or more courses or options on the one console then the other that would definately be a good reason to pick one console over the other.
RE: 5:
Superior Multiplatform games? Really? Where did you get this...because everywhere I have read online the vast majority are saying that side by side the games either look better on the 360 or look the same. And as for gyrosopic features there really are so few games out there that take advantage of this feature that it is hard to make an educated statement about it. Ryan Block of Engadget said in a Podcast that Resistance Fall of man felt kind of empty without rumbe and went on to say that it was hard to get into the game went explosions are going on around you or the player is getting shot and all you see is the screen get fuzzy.
RE: 6:
This is a very interesting feature. Time will tell if it becomes one of the defining features. If I remember right the PS2 had a Linux kit but it just died off. And unless you are planning on doing some homebrew or modding your PS3 I seriouly doubt that Sony is going to make or even allow a HD-DVD drive to be attached and run on the PS3. I think that Sony has gone to allot of trouble and allot of expense to make sure you use their Blu-Ray format, and to then say oh hey go over and give some support to the rival format camp seems pretty unlikely.
RE: 7:
Here is where you are right now. Microsoft has completely dropped the ball on this one. Backward compatiblity was something that the promised us with "Major Titles". And I think they have fell flat on their face here. Sony with the PS2, and now the PS3 has really set the bar high, in fact Nintendo may be right there with them but Sony has really got this down right. There are a couple of small bugs, but I would bet they will be fixed very shortly. But as for the "new-gen" shot at Nintendo I will say graphics and horse power are not everything. I think the Wii is an increibly fun console. And the Nintendo DS is completely curb stomping the PSP. And I would say there is a very close connection between that fight and the PS3 and Wii fight.
As to you comments about reasons to buy a PS3 later on, is Sony has always made lots of promises and then delivers on a percentage of them. So I am still a little hesitant to take a Sony promise at face value. Yes there are really a great list of titles coming in 2007, and as said above anyone who really enjoys playing video games this console is a got have. But for people who only plan on buying one console or are trying to decide between a PS3 and a XBox 360 to go along with their Wii, it is not as much of a slam dunk as you seem to feel. The XBox 360 has Halo 3, Blue Dragon, Splinter Cell 5, Bioshock, Lost Planet, and others of different genres. I would say that each consumer should really look at the games they enjoy and spend quality time with both the PS3 and the XBox 360 at whatever retailer has a demo out and figure out which one you want to buy. But really even if you pick one up, you will probably end up picking up the other one some where down the road to enjoy the exculsive titles that are available to it. As for media available on either console for download here again is really something that you may want to look at but definately should not be any reason that you choose one console over the other because no matter which console you do not have you can get that same media on DVD and be sure to be able to play it.
Fireware Updates: Come on really? Both Microsoft and Sony seem to be cranking out firmware updates whenever there are mainstream problems with their products.
Sony does have a nice back catalog to draw from but currently I did not think you can play those on your PS3, only download them to your PS3 and then transfer them to your PSP. I am sure this will be fixed in the near future but right now that is only pie in the sky. But right now as it stands, the Wii and 360 are both releasing Arcade titles much faster then Sony.
As for the speculation of games all three consoles have a list of AAA titles that are coming. Here again the consumer should really try to figure out what type of games they like and make a decision based on that.
As for sequels, you seem to like to say that in the future the PS3 will do this or that or this game will be availble in the future. But in the future the Wii is probably going to have the largest collection of orginal games of the three consoles.
Your right if you are a gamer you will end up with all three. But I still think that anyone who only wants to buy one console should look at the games they want to play and make their console decision.
Really you think the Wii is just a passing fade? I bet when it comes time for the new next gen consoles the Wii will have out sold the PS3 by at least twice as much, and the attach rate for the Wii will be twice as high as the attach rate for the PS3.

Is TEH a new word? It seems like a lot of the PS3 "fanboys" like to use it.
Anyway, I hope some day this technology war will stop and they will make more systems like the Wii so that I can buy ONE TV and ONE game system and ONE stereo, etc...
But hey, if you want to buy a gaming system and pay an extra $200+ for the opportunity to play a technology you will likely never be able to afford to use (until you don't want it anymore) then buy a PS3 for the BlueRay technology. Not only will you be able to play $40 on a TV you don't own yet, but you will also have so much fun watching these moview while waiting for good game titles to come out.
Cudos Sony! Your marketing team did it again - let the techies take over and forget about what the market actually needs!
