Assassin's Creed secrets spotted! Mission failure...
Heh, stealthy games end when you're seen. That's when all hell breaks loose. Not unlike that, when a game with a "big twist" suddenly decides to leak the secret, it's game over for the hype. Did we seriously just use "game over" to describe something? Oh well. Now, this came about a few days ago and we missed it (damned finals and their time-consuming textbookery!) but since Assassin's Creed is a PS3 and a 360 title, it's still worth giving the shout out.Kristen Bell, the famous (and good-lookin'... sorry, I'm a pig, I know...) actress spilled the beans in a recent interview regarding the twist of the upcoming title. Here's what she said: "It's actually really interesting to me. It's sort of based on the research that's sort of happening now, about the fact that your genes might be able to hold memory. And you could argue semantics and say it's instinct, but how does a baby bird know to eat a worm, as opposed to a cockroach, if its parents don't show it? And it's about this science company trying to, Matrix-style, go into peoples brains and find out an ancestor who used to be an assassin, and sort of locate who that person is."
You know, what really annoys me, personally, about this is the fact a few months ago I started up a short story regarding what I decided to call "Persistent Eternally Linking Memories"... PELM. It's a neato story, but now that this game is apparently going a similar route, I feel I'd be regarded as a "me-too" storyteller. Oh well, it at least makes me interested enough to see how they present the material. What do you guys think? What sort of memory tricks will be wrought in Assassin's Creed? And seriously, can Ubisoft stop monopolizing the beautiful girl circuit? What with Assassin Creed producer, Jade and Kristen... sorry, lost my train of thought in those eyes...

All they have shown us so far is a medieval assassin, wouldn't it be a nifty idea if throughout the game the memories take place in different times. Medieval, Old West, 1950s, present day, near future, later future. Though doubtful it will happen in this game.

The first thing I want to know if how Kristen Bell knew all of this? it just seems really random that an actress had all this inside info. Go Veronica!!!
#1. Your idea sounds really cool actually. They remodeled to the stricktest detail Crusades era Jerusalem and Damascus. So it depends how much room on the BD these cities are taking up.
Jet242 @ Dec 16th 2006 12:40AM
actually aex I think thats exactly what they're trying to do...saying that if cells hold memory it may be in some ones blood to kill
...sweet...

This is also on 360 so they would be using the same amount as on a dvd.
Tristan @ Dec 16th 2006 3:30AM
I mean it's most likely that they will be using the same amount other developers would sometimes put a few more cut scenes, but when it comes to story and gameplay it doesn't change.

#5, that's a good point. Didn't think of that. The only difference may be that they could render the game in a higher resolution for PS3 and down convert it for 360. But I think the point you make limits the possibility of a ton of other cities. The size and depth they are proclaiming on their forums of Jerusalem and Damascus alone half to take up a massive amount of storage space.

If oblivion fits on a dvd I don't think they will have any problems with space.

Tristan: From your comments, I can tell you either didnt play Oblivion to see the incredible amount of re-used textures and models, or you've never programmed in your life. I'm going to assume both.
Tristan @ Dec 16th 2006 8:09AM
Why couldn't they do that in this game though they may but we don't know. No I've never done it, but I may do some summer classes cause next year is my senior year at high school and it would be good for me to have some programming classes.

"I can tell you either didnt play Oblivion to see the incredible amount of re-used textures and models..."
what he said. oblivion MASSIVELY reuses textures and quite a bit of artifacts throughout the game. they did a good job of manipulating things to a point where it doesnt seem overly repetitive though.
it will be interesting to see how this game pans out on the multi-platform level. will they strip down the 360 version... or possibly spread it over several discs? or will they trim the amount of things they would like to accomplish so that the game can be the same across both platforms. my guess is the first option. i have a feeling the 360 will see a "basic" version of the game, while the ps3 sees "extra features" and higher res. just a guess though.
"next year is my senior year at high school"
not surprising.

Had to take a stab at me again huh? lol Not trying to start anything.
Microdot @ Dec 16th 2006 2:06PM
