Firmware 3.03 appears on Network Update [Update 1]
Get with the times, Andrew! I totally had 3.03 on my PSP for the past few hours! You sux0rz!!!1It's true. Firmware 3.03 is now available via Network Update. According to the update: "The number of PLAYSTATION Network titles that can be played under [Game] has increased."
O RLY, Sony??? I just checked my PS3, and I have yet to see any new games. I'll keep you posted, though.

this update only lets you put more ps1 games on your psp so if you have a ps3 then you should update

I installed the Update, it said there was undisclosed security and support for more games via PS3, which I think it utterly fracking stupid! Just let us d/l the games without having to buy an overrated PS3!!!

I think it's dumb as well. Hell I have 3.02 and it's useless all it was was a security update and now they think everyone on earth has a goddamn Ps3?! Those rat bastards need to pay dearly. I don't plan on getting a Ps3 until it's at least 100 dollars or less. And I'm not downgrading to be able to homebrew....because evan if I downgrade I still can't get anything to work right on it. But Sony must have been wasted when they were thinking of this nonesense.

I can't believe this crap. I just got my psp for xmas and I just updated to 3.03 without thinking or doing any research and now I feel like a big idiot. I hope there's a downgrade method that comes out soon cuz I am freaking out. I dunno bout you guys but I can't even play videos with MPEG4 codec which is supposed to work on this thing! I'm so frustrated!

all sony cares about is making more money, they want you to buy a ps3, so they promote this to push psp owners into buying the ps3.
and dont download the psp update. the "security" fix actually "fixes" all of the "malicious" coode people like Dark_Alex write...

OMG I just got the PSP and i was downloading Ridge Racer and it said you need 2.81 firmware so i downloaded the latest update because it probably worked later on i found out you cant download homebrew and you cant downgrade either! SONY IS A BUM m probably going to go to bestbuy and tell them it stoped working at times or something ill make something up and i'll get a new one and NOT download firmware over 2.71. I hope someone comes out with a downgrade for 3.03 firmware SONY are bums

DO NOT UPGRADE!!! there is a good 3rd party 3.02 OE by dark phoenix or someone like that. its a modded firmware versions that let you do so much more stuff than the regular firmware; like Dl psp games to your mem stick and play them, play a PS1 emulator, and even draw! all free too its so pointless to upgrade using sonys "awesome new updates" when you cant downgrade afterwards. like for instance after christmas when you dont realize whats happening only to beat yourself up later

i think they shoulld atleast make a new update like v3.04 are something so some one can find a way to play homebrew like they did with v3.03oe. that would be cool. so some of us probally wouldnt have to wait so long for a downgrader. Damn V3.03

Poo! How often do you just update software on a pc and it makes things better, faster, more secure only for Sony to release an update that actually stops you from enjoying the PSP. Surely it is better to have people making good programs for an otherwise boring games machine, Sony have got to learn that if you allow naughty behaviour on their hardware then more people would be interested and above all else they would have more software for their customers.
Microsoft do not make it too difficult to crack their software as they know it means more people use their products, SONY you have to grow into this Linux/Open source world, or loose everything to the monster that is Microsoft. I for one have had enough of the bsod and Sony saying they are going to use Linux, well come now boys/girls let us play.
P.S. Yes I was also an idiot and upgraded the PSP to 3.03 and now have lost the ability to use homebrew, damn you to hell Sony, I still love the products but wish for some compasion towards us the end users, and that does not mean we want to rip companies off stealing software and such we just want to use the software made by hard working programmers. Good luck to you all who are fixing Sonys cock up on the 3.03 upgrade.

yo wtf is this... every on who has new psp's are trying to upgrade and endup using the network update bringing us to 3.03... honestly besides psp im not a huge fan of sony... in fact ive got a 360 and ive played ps3 its worthless... the wii got better ratings then it (dont ask me how that happened) but if sony thinks there going to make more money this way they must think all of their customers are grade A idiots... if some one comes out with a 3.03 downgrader spread the word because as you can see there's alot of ppl flippin over this bs that sony is trying to pull

I just got my psp aswell. just like others i didnt do any research at all and upgraded to 3.03. the day after a friend told me that you could downgrade to play nes and psone games. ^#%@ i just want to homebrew!!!! so im begging all of you hackers that made the other downgrades plezzzzzzzz work on a downgrade for all the other hard core gamazzz. all of us uniformed morrons will love you forever. im curantly trying to get a coworker that never playz his to trade me but i dont think its going to happen so plzz someone work on the 3.03 downgrader so i can play FF on my psp. thanx for listening to me rant.

Am I glad I stumbled across this blogg while trying to find out how to change the O & X buttons on this JP psp v2.81 I have just bought. On setting up wi-fi broadband connection on psp, it downloded v3.03 to memory card before I knew what was happening, & having had bad experiences with pc updates thought I would not do anything with it for now, & so glad I didn't. I'm deleting it of the memory card now!!!
Thanks for the advise from everyone & I feel for those who have updated to v3.03 knowing how much enjoyment I am getting out of the psp. If I find anything out from other blogs about downgrading I'll let you all know.
