Radical new controller headed to PS3

Screw the Wiimote! If you want a really radical controller, check out the EdgeFX which is now available for the PS2 and "will be available soon" for the PS3.
"The EdgeFX has a right hand optical mouse controller and gaming pad with a detachable left hand controller. During game play, the left hand controller is used to move while the right rumble-mouse is used to shoot, look left, right, up and down. The EdgeFX allows you to move at maximum speeds and then instantly slow down for precision targeted shooting when the focus button is pressed."
Yeah, awesome.

Is that an artist rendering, or the real thing?
Ryan @ Dec 20th 2006 2:35AM
Ok..WTF is that? A mouse, wow. And something near similar to the nunchuka. Let me list out some flaws I see.
1: The hell is that on the side? the 4 PlayStation TradeMark Buttons? Anyone who can bend their thumb in far enough to hit the O without hitting any other on accident surely has SOMETHING wrong with their hand.
2: The D pad? RIGHT THERE!?!? Do you know how many times the average gamer will rest their thumb down on the thing?
3: Why have the D pad? Simple, use the mouse to aim/fire and the joystick to move. As stated in 2, the D pad will only get in the way.

Thats really looking good... But just might be left as a random 3rd party peripheral... That would leave me no good reason to play fps' on pc
Hoffer @ Dec 20th 2006 7:41AM
That thing looks awful. Who would want that thing sitting on their lap while gaming on the couch???
uh huh @ Dec 20th 2006 9:21AM
wtf is that. ugyly as hell and doesnt look functional. this is suppsoed to save sony?
Dan @ Dec 20th 2006 10:11AM
Uhh.. I don't think it's meant to "save" Sony. It's a third party accessory/peripheral.
What the hell are you talking about?
And you and everyone else cannot talk about "saving" Sony this early in the game.

For every PS3 Fanboy out there there must be at least one hater. Makes YOU wonder (not me I know) how they are number one in the console market.
I have never been a big fan of FPS on consoles, but this may change my mind. Just as long as the keys are programmable by game. I think Resistance will be even better this way.
Heres to more FPS on the PS3!!!

gti @ Dec 20th 2006 9:28PM

JustinSLipPaGE @ Dec 21st 2006 2:06AM
Definately a strange one..

The thing on the left looks awfully like a power-glove, and the title of the article "Radical new controller" makes this thing seem even more like the ill-fated nintendo accessory.
Another kick in the balls for Poor System 3
Lord of Hair @ Dec 23rd 2006 10:29PM
Ryan you seem to have little concept of Ergonomics, the Analog stick will be easier to rest your thumb on than the PS3 controller(like it is on the GC/Xbux), the d-pad looks to be the difficult one to reach.
The buttons on the mouse appeared odd when I glanced at them, but this mouse looks like it would be held a bit differently, with the hand slightly resting/sloped onto the right side of the mouse which would leave the end of the thumb resting under the triangle button making all the other buttons perfectly accessible
don't be so quick to dis things you have not interacted with yourself
oh and it looks like a render

So, tell me why Im going to pay $600 bucks for a console, another $50+ bucks for a mouse and analog stick...when i can spend the same amount on a decently serious computer. I like the idea and somewhat creative thought, always wondered when someone was going to make one of these, but if I want to play a PFS computer always has and from the looks of it always will own the PFS market. Nice inovation Sony, think it's the wrong market though.

I CAN'T SPELL!!!!!! :)

Has anyone used this with the PS2/PS3 Controller Adapter? I really want to use this for Resistance or CoD3. If there's anyone, please let us know whether it works decently.
