Sharp promises increased blue laser diode production
This is good news for the people who haven't been able to spot a PS3 of their own yet. Sharp Electronics has entered the regular diode-producing market -- since November they produced about 150,000 thingies a month, but promise to up the number to 500,000 by 2007's end. What with Sony being the current blue laser diode champion, this bodes well for the production of PS3's, limited by the shortage of said diodes in the last couple of months. Is there much else to say on this? Keep a look out for an influx of PS3's, we guess. But don't forget, HD-DVD also uses these diodes, so don't think 500,000 units per month equates to 500,000 PS3's. It'll probably be much lower, but significantly higher than the current two or three. Kidding, kidding.

Come on get your facts in order. BluRay uses a blue diode and HD-DVD uses a red one. If HD-DVD used the blue diodes too it would be called blu ray. Besides if the HD-DVD players used them why would there be an abundance of HD-DVD players for the 360 if there are no PS3s available.
