New PS3 ad for Europe

With the PS3 headed for European shores, the media blitz is in full swing. This European TV commercial is a bit less abstract that some of the earlier PS3 ads. But that doesn't mean it's any more effective.

Wow, that... doesn't hold my interest.
And why the hell is Sony still splicing in PRE-RENDERED VIDEO with gameplay video? Haven't they lied enough? I mean... we've all seen the PS3 in action now, and we know it looks good... but it doesn't look photorealistic like movie CGI.
Amazing that a multibillion dollar company behaves this way. I'd expect this from PHANTOM, not Sony. (But my opinion [as well as, I'm sure, millions of other Sony fans around the world] has changed quite a bit about their integrity in the last year.

I stood at Target yesterday staring at more than a dozen PS3s in the case with cash in hand. My launch 360 died and it's taking a little bit for the warranty repair so I was seriously flirting with buying a PS3. Standing there with the ability to make whatever purchased I liked, I decided to buy a second 360.
Why? Good God, why?
It's all about the games.

I'm a 360 fanboy through and through but even so, that's a pretty decent ad. Much better than the crying baby.
Not sure about the spliced CG footage though.

Still trying to find this "splicing in PRE-RENDERED VIDEO" in this ad. Looking through it frame by frame, it all matches the demo level area. i can't find this pre-rendered part.
Unless you mean the peoples with the cups. I think thats real life camera video not cg.

I'm currently playing the following...
Gears of War (coop over XBOX Live and multiplayer lately)
Rainbow Six Vegas (coop and multiplayer)
Lost Planet (campaign and multiplayer)
Small Arms (awesome with friends and four controllers)
...that's what I've been playing today. None of the above are on the PS3 at the moment though Rainbow Six should arrive later in the day. I've also been rediscovering PGR3 and Test Drive Unlimited with a wireless force feedback steering wheel that I received as a gift. Good stuff.
When some interesting titles arrive for the PS3 along with a price cut, I will take the plunge, but at the moment, there's just too much good stuff kicking on the 360. I'm chomping at the bit to play these upcoming 360 titles...

On the PS3, there's not even announced release dates for the good stuff (Turismo, MGS, etc). A GT HD playable demo that honestly doesn't look any better than PGR3 doesn't do it for me. RFOM is a nice, classic-style FPS, but it's a graphical and gameplay step down from Gears and Lost Planet.
Sure, the PS3 is filled with promise, but my purchase at Target was based upon what I can do today.

I don't think anyone who wants the PS3 to succeed should be happy about the PS2 sales especially over December Remember this -
EVERY PS2 SOLD is A PS3 LEFT ON THE SHELF
I don't think you will find many parents rushing out anytime soon and buying a PS3 when it gets here not after just buying their kids that PS2..

wow that ad was so lame. they should have just showed game clips the whole time. and i like how they said it was a processor of "unparalleled power". if that was true, xbox360 wouldnt be considered a rival
