More PS1 on PSP via PS3 coming your way

I still don't understand the distribution system, but Sony has more PS1 goodness headed your way via the PS3 online store. This time you'll be able to re-live the thrills, chills and spills of the original WIpout or enjoy the frentic, frantic fun of Jet Moto. Availability hasn't been confimed, but rumor has it that the 2 PS1/PSP titles will be accompanied by some new PS3 content in the form of a multiplayer pack for Blast Factor.
The PS1/PSP titles run $5.99. The muliplayer add-on will put you back $2.99. Welcome to the brave, new world of mini-transactions!

wipeout for the PSP is now $20 bucks and a hell of alot better why don't they release games PSP owners want?
Metal Gear Solid
Final Fantasy 7
etc.......
Cmon Sony wake up!!
Faraz M. @ Jan 16th 2007 9:06PM
guys, just sut your losses, sell your PS3 at eb games and buy a 360. or you can keep a PS3 until HALO 3 comes out but by then no one will want a PS3 and everyone will want a 360 so i don't know how lucky you will be when you try to change your mind then. it is only a matter of time until you stop denying it
Colin @ Jan 16th 2007 9:30PM
Faraz,
Aww, 360 fanboys are so cute when they come over and try to stir up nonsense. Dude, I heard from somebody that a picture of the master chief's foot was leaked on the 360 IGN forums. You better go find it!

bxbaily,
I hear ya, though I'm stoked for Jet Moto. That was a pretty solid game. And I'm a HUGE wipeout fan, but like you said... Sony really needs to learn to stop releasing ps1 games that have highly reviewed psp sequals. Just always remind me how far things have come in 10 years.

Dear Sony,
I would like to buy some classic PS1 games (Wipeout brings back fond memories...) but I do not own a PSP. I'm not going to buy a PSP. Let me download classic games to play on my television like the Wii and 360 do. If you do this, I will give you money.
Sincerely, me.

haha wow i just got dissed, colin it was actually a picture of the legendary edition of the box but thanks anyways, i still crapped my pants. but one question,
WHO WOULD WIN IN A FIGHT, MASTERCHEIF OR SNAKE?
Irwin @ Jan 16th 2007 9:59PM
Master Cheif weighs "half a metric ton" and is 7 feet tall. Snake is an old man with kevlar.
You decide.
Jokes aside, Faraz, please, don't try and start an argument about "who would win in a fight." This is just gonna get ugly. Just seems a bit ridiculous.
Back on topic now please?
Okidoki @ Jan 16th 2007 10:11PM
Obviously Solid Snake... Master Chief fights aliens, Snake fights a giant robot 10000X his size, not to mention all those other damn bosses...
Of course I hate Halo and am a complete Metal Gear fanatic so my word is worth its value in sand.

jetmoto is a good game. i cant wait for it to come out. what i want is croc lol. that game was cool back when it first came out.but i was like 5 so i dont know how good it will be now lol
The1 @ Jan 16th 2007 10:31PM
Again, I do not want PS1 or PS2 titles for my PS3. I want what Ken promised. Where are my true next-gen titles for the PS3? Sony just does not listen.
alienclay @ Jan 16th 2007 11:29PM
now i can play wipeout 1 without the horrible load times. i have pure and recommend getting pure first as well but personnaly i don't mind dropping $6 for this one.
the ps3 is gonna last 5-10 years. let sony spread out the good stuff. if FF7, metal gear, tony hawk 1/2, armored core, the other 2 wip3outs, and evey other awesome game in the ps1 lineup all came out in one day there wouldn't be much to look forward too now would there. they will appear, give it time. this way brings maximum profit for sony and lets gamers explore the best of what the ps1 offers without diluting the PS store with hundreds of titles out of the gate and lets each one have a little time in the sun upon release.
dont forget, there is a little coding involved to get these games working just right. rome (nor the massive libary of ps1 games) wasn't built in a day.
the ablity to play the ps1 classics on the ps3 and not the psp will come, but when sony gets around too this i don't know. i give it 4-6 months from now. i just wish there wa a way to make it look better. i popped in my copy of wipeout xl last week and found it a little harsh. (hdmi clarity is unforgiving to ps1 textures)
any new console needs about a year for those must have "next gen" games. i made my decision on which one to buy in 05. the xbox360 only has 2 games that had my intrest. i'll let you guess which ones, (one just came out and one isn't out yet). whereas the ps3 has 6 deal breakers for me and 3 of them are right around the corner. just keep repeating this mantra to yourself for the next 60 some odd days like i do
"lair, motorstorm, heavenly sword"
"lair, motorstorm, heavenly sword"
lair, motorstorm, heavenly sword,..."
(and, MGS4 raiden wins...)

I dont know about you guys, but I am really excited about having Jet Moto on my psp. It was one of THE games that defined my playstation experience. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences i remember form the good gray box.
Rich @ Jan 17th 2007 8:27AM
Who would win in a fight between Snake and Master Chief??
Thats easy.... Cloud Strife
...NEXT!
Szu @ Jan 17th 2007 9:07AM
I maybe wrong, but according to gamefaqs online character popularity poll. I think Kirby beat Master Chief. I think Solid Snake lost to Crono at one point. Link owns them all. Cloud won one year, but Link owned him the next year.

yeah, Sony sure doesn't listen to it's fans:
"We want a Hard Drive, Standard! the PS2 has no hard drive standard! Get with it, Sony!"
Sony: Ok, here's a 20gig and 60gig HDD, with the option to upgrade to any size 2.5" SATA HDD.
"We want more controller ports! 2 controller ports is soooo 1985! Get with it Sony!"
Sony: Ok, here's four USB controller ports, with support for up to 3 more via Bluetooth, for a total of 7 controllers supported.
"We want better graphics! The X Box has waaay better graphics than the PS2! Get with it, Sony!"
Sony: Ok, here's a state of the art graphics processor and CPU, possibly one of the best in console gaming history thus far. And, we've included support for resolutions up to, and including 1080p, for when the obligatory shift from SD to HDTV's takes place within the next two years.
"God, that boomerrang controller is gay! Bring back the classic Playstation controller!"
Sony: Done. And we've included motion-sensing, just to shut up those obnoxious Nintendo fanboys.
"The 20gig PS3 doesn't have HDMI! That's lame! Why would we buy the 20gig if it doesn't support HDMI! Get with it, Sony!"
Sony: Yeah, we were high when we didn't include that. Here, fixed. Now both SKUs support HDMI. No tard pack for you.
yeah, Sony doesn't listen at all. Not in the least.

well said Figboy. Im a Sony man - TV PSP PS3 Handycam dam!
I honestly dont understand the hate Sony gets on the web, not just at this site but all over. I didnt buy a betamax or minidisc player, so I have no reason to be bitter.
My Sony electronics have always been user friendly, high quality, reliable, and fun. The sony controller just meshes as one with my hand since PS1.
One thing I will say negative though is that Sony is moving like a retarded snail stuck in quick sand with regards to getting the PS Store stocked, Ive been waiting for them to set up an E-distribution service (like iTunes) for movies and PS1 games since I got the damn PSP. Hopefully theyre almost done with it. As a completely biased Sony fanboy even I will say that the PS3 online network is crap as of 1/18/07
