God of War
David Jaffe may have given up on his PSP ambitions through the cancellation of Heartland, but that doesn't mean that he should avoid the platform altogether. Considering how the original God of War is considered to be one of the best action games ever created, we'd love to see a PSP version of this bloody beat-em-up. I'd love either a port of the original (or the upcoming God of War II) or an entirely original game. <spoiler> A side-story could focus on Kratos' life before he was ever afflicted with the curse that covered his skin in ashes.</spoiler>
Why PSP?
God of War is easily one of Sony's most popular franchises right now (and I say this before God of War II even comes out!). It's clear that God of War III will most likely head towards the PLAYSTATION 3, but there's no reason to avoid a PSP version. The game doesn't require a second analog stick, and the intelligent camera of the first will make it accessible for the portable. Make the levels smaller and shorter, and the game's great combat system will translate quite well for gamers on the go. If God of War made it on the PSP, it will certainly be one of the goriest portable games ever made: and doesn't the PSP deserve that?
Is it possible?
God of War pushed the PS2's graphical abilities quite far. However, reduced detail would work perfectly fine on the handheld. Even with a lower poly-count and worse textures, God of War will still be fun. Considering how this is a popular Sony-owned property, God of War PSP is not only possible ... but likely.

GOW...yes...but not a direct port..give the PSP its own game like MGSO is doing.

Why don't you read something that would really enthrall you. May I recommend the Harry Potter books, they're quite engrossing.
As for a GOW on the psp. Yes!
As Yoon mentioned, the controls make for a great port. I just don't know about the prequel idea. Kratos didn't start getting the awsome powers until he started messing with the gods (the setup for GOW). I'd rather see a spinoff set on mount Olympus, and maybe another trip into Hades.
PSP needs a game like GOW.

Awesome news. If God of Wars will come out on PSP I smash my one by clickings. I won't mind on the graphics. The main things for me are level designs, artificial intelligence and game atmosphere. And all of this is called GAMEPLAY

Would work really well, but may not happen due to somewhat poor reception of software sales of the PSP in the US. Plus I'm pretty sure we wouldn't hear anything about a portable GoW until right before/after GoW III.

If God of War was 'mario bros' then it'd be on the ps2, about 3 times, it'd already be on the psp, and ready for the ps3's launch. When you got something bread and butter.. you have to get on it. Many if they can get God of war.. looking like FFVII crisis core... then the transistion to the psp would be quite seamless.

Anyways , as an idea GOW for the PSP is a greate one , more exactly I have 2 must have unanounced games on the PSP : God of War and Resident Evil :)

Well a GOW game on the PSP would be cool. I would like to see it set before GOW1 though. It could start where He asked for the God of Wars help to save his life. So this way you get the back story of all his fights before He became the GOW.
I think that would be cool plus this would also open up more of the story of Kratos.

Mr. Yoon,
You're starting to piss me off with this column, because the ideas are so fuckin' enticing! I mean, last time you proposed something along the lines of RE4, and now God Of War.
The system could benefit from titles that test its limits in a flattering manner.
A little off-topic:
Now, you all know how well Diablo and Diablo II did on the PC; it's a legendary franchise. Would it hurt if the PSP got its own port of Diablo II? With infrasturcture mode? I think it would certainly pertain to some very significant ripples in the game-sales chart. (IF DONE RIGHT!)
