WarHawk -- destined to go the free demo route a la Gran Turismo HD? [update 1]

This is a rumor, so let's not get out our pitchforks and torches yet, you crazy radical radicals! Seriously, the site originating/reporting on this rumor is called the Rumor Reporter. Anyway, it should still be considered, since the game, WarHawk, has had absolutely new news since that demo from way back when at that whatever show. You know the one. You also know our rule of thumb regarding these rumors: an anonymous source from high up in whatever says, etc etc.

WarHawk has stalled completely in development. Infighting and lack of direction led to a halt of the game... but... only as a major retail release. There are still plans for taking what's been done on the game, finishing up whatever loose ends exist currently, and releasing the title as a download at the PS-Store. There has been a little controversy on this, as David Jaffe refutes this rumor, but only refutes the idea WarHawk will never be completed, not that it won't turn into a PS-Store item. Take this as you will, but if it's true, that's another high-profile title that's getting kicked between the legs and left to cry in the gutter. Sort of. We can still play it, eventually, either way.

[update: Rumor Reporter ran a follow-up and it seems WarHawk for the PS3 is indeed turning into a PS-Store release, but will probably still feature 16-person online dogfights. Cool.]

Well I have also heard that WarHawk will come to the PS store but it will not be the PS3 version. The version
I am talking about is the rumor of WarHawk for the PS1 being a download for the PSP. So may be that is what people are thinking. I hope that is what it is. I think it would be cool to play WarHawk on the PSP.

this seems to be yet another hit to the PS3. this system is basically going to hell because now all of these potentially awesome games are being cancelled or ported to the 360
i think that i'll just but an XBOX 360 AND WAIT FOR HALO 3 BECAUSE THE PS3 HAS YET TO OFFER ME ANYTHING

the air combat looked great but after staring at resistance the ground combat didn't exactly get me all that excited. i personally felt that it was delayed to clear this issue up and make sure the game lives up to expections but somehow i get the feeling that balancing the gameplay in a game with two types of game in it(and make it make sense, i mean common, why would you get out of your high powered, heavily armored, fighter bommer jet thingy and leave it vunerable to enemy attack to fight with the grunts?) is difficult, extreemly difficult to do well, especilly for a game that was supposed to be a launch title.
eh. i don't care either way. as long as the price is right.
i'll just go back to chanting my personall mantra...

and they are probally online because their crappy 360 is frozen. and yes i do own a 360. and know from 1st person experience that its a piece of crap. o well goin to play PS3.(which never freezes)

Warhawk sucks just like the ps3. It makes me sick that this stupid console was done so poorly that it can be found on shelves in stores right now. Sony needs to call the ps3 a loss and start over they look pathetic.

Anybody who says bad things about the PS3, probably does not have one or has one hooked up wrong. The Machine is awesome. I have all 3 next gen boxes, Wii, PS3 and the 360...All are good...the PS3 has only been out for 2 months and people are already calling it doomed...The 360 did not have any good games out till GRAW.
The PS3 game will come...just be patient....

What's all the fuss about this game? It really doesn't look to be anything special. Maybe the only reason it got so much hype in the first place is because it's one of the few titles that Sony has show for the PS3.

But 16 player online dogfights was enjoyed years ago on the original Xbox with Crimson Skies. Although I think that was 12 players. So a so-so game that may or may not deliver the online experience of a 3 year old game from last gen??? Who give a flying crap if this never makes it to the PS3...other than to point out that the PS3's software lineup has been pretty pathetic and it's future doesn't look to much more promising.

Copperhead> When? What? Where? What games? The only games worth buying the system for are still TBA release dates. VF5 is coming soon, but you can get that for the 360 too. Motorstorm is about as "meh" as possible (if it came out now on the 360, people wouldn't buy it because it's basically lame, and everybody knows it. It's only "awesome" because there's nothing else out there)
Having patience is a virtue. Paying $600 to practice your monk-like patience is just stupid. Yes, 360 fanboys have their own site, but we want to see what's going on with the other big gaming system out there. Why? Because we're gamers. And, this is gaming. Sony sold me a PS2 for Guitar Hero, Katamari and Shadow of the Colossus, They're gonna have to work a lot harder to sell me a system that costs 6x(!) as much as the PS2 I got. So, I watch. And I wait. And it just gets less and less likely that I'm going to be dropping $600 an anything but a vacation to Micronesia.

The 360 was ridiculed because the launch games weren't Gears of War. But there were a lot of them, and they kept coming. No games until GRAW? Have we forgot about Kameo, PGR3, COD2, Condemned... Yeah... NOTHING until GRAW, indeed.

a) this game doesn't look that great anyway.
b) sad that you have to "wonder" if it will have a demo, on 360 all games have a demo. You don't have to "hope."

Kspraydad, I just mean that all of these WarHawk rumours appeared out of the blue, and it looks like there’s no truth to any of them from what we can see here. Someone speculated that it could become a downloadable title because development was stale and they had little good content, so it would make sense in that case. However, all that was groundless speculation based on a false rumour.

I think what extinction is pointing out is that ThreeSpeech has now said...categorically...that it is a Full Release.
