PS3 named among the Top 10 most overrated products of all time!
Those two-faced bastards over at PC Magazine -- who just last month rated the PS3 over the Wii as the new console to get -- have published a Top 10 list of the "Most Overrated Products of All Time!" Rounding out the top 10 is our very own PS3. We think the PS3 is a bit young to join any "all time" lists just yet, but the list does have merit for its entertainment value. Here's the complete list of the losers:
- Any version of MS Windows after Windows 95
- :CueCat
- Lotus 1-2-3
- AOL
- Apple iPod shuffle
- Microsoft Bob
- Google Video
- Bose QuietComfort 2 Headphones
- Microsoft PowerPoint
- Sony PlayStation 3

These Geeks Need to Check their Pocket Protectors!
Windows 95 was not that great.
XP Works quite well (other than costing 4x as much).
Microsoft Bob should be at the Top of the List.
That was just Mr Gates letting us know what he thought of the Average intelligence of a typical PC User.
I find my PS3 working Quite well, and it has REAL Backwards Compatibility Unlike my Stupid XBox360.
I bought Blazing Angels for my PS3 even though the 360 version could be found for $20 cheaper used.
Why? Because When the XBox720 Comes out All my 360 Games will not work with it.
Not being able to play my XBox Games on my 360... That sound pretty OverRated to me.
Also OverRated. XBox Live. I have used Both XBox Live and Playstation Network. I read everywhere how much worse it is than Live, but I don't see it. Why do I have to pay $49 a year for Live. Both Play Games online. PS Network has Resistance 40 Player Matches. Both Have Downloadable Content, sure there is no Background downloading yet on the PS3, but the 360 Launched the Same Way. Both Have Downloadable Videos, Demos, etc.
Everywhere online I read that XBox Live is better.
Where is it better. Because it has Themes? I think Free is better. Heck The XBox360 Now has Burger King ads all over it. If I have to see commercials then I should get something for free, Hey... How about Live for Free.

To an extent they are right. The PS3 is beter than the Wii....But in all honestly it was very over hyped.
The1 @ Jan 18th 2007 11:17PM
If you have an X-360 and XBOX LIVE..I will be amazed. X-Live is light years ahead of what SONY is offering. I have all three consoles and I give credit where it's due.

Take a deep breath, partner. Everything will be ok. I have not dealt with the PS Network but from my understanding isn't each game company required to come up with their own online play? I was not under the impression that PS Network had an infrastructure setup and in place for game companies to utilize--they need to setup their own infrastructure, so the online experience is only as good as the developer will make it. Whereas, MS has all of that ready to go and utilizes their own servers and such.
I may be wrong on that though. Is that correct?
Andir2.0 @ Jan 18th 2007 11:33PM
From my understanding, Microsoft servers only handle the gamertags and rankings. Places like EA still have to have server farms for XBox Live. Again, I think I read that somewhere and without further research I can't verify. I just don't care enough to check.
Bland @ Jan 19th 2007 12:06AM
Overrated? I've heard nothing but bitter whining from people regarding the PlayStation 3. I think they're just looking for yet another chance to bitch about the console, with no actual real reason to do so.
But, wait a minute... This is a PC magazine. Who cares? What would they honestly know about console gaming?
hillsh @ Jan 19th 2007 12:08AM
The PS3 is massively over-hyped... and when it comes to online service, you get what you pay for. Last I checked, $12 a month or whatever I'm paying for Live is a great deal... at least more than 90,000 ppl. can download something at once without crashing the network.
If backwards compatibility is one of your major arguments Kruegmeister, then you make the 360's case for it... especially considering you STILL HAVE YOUR OLD CONSOLE. But hey, its cool to pay 600 bucks to play your old games on a 99 dollar machine.

"Also OverRated. XBox Live. I have used Both XBox Live and Playstation Network. I read everywhere how much worse it is than Live, but I don't see it."
I SERIOUSLY doubt you have a 360 or participate on Xbox Live. I have both a 360 and a PS3, and can tell you Live is years ahead of PSNetwork, both figuratively and in reality. It is well worth the $50.00, and if Sony truly intends on competing with Xbox Live, they are going to have to start charging so they can create a unified infrastructure.
Being a "fanboy" is fine, but quit deluding yourself.
mietha @ Jan 19th 2007 12:16AM
Personally, I think the Wii is far more deserving to be on that list than the PS3, but anyway. Not sure about the rest of those, but I sure as hell agree with Lotus 1-2-3, AOL, and the Ipod shuffle. Crap, the lot of them. And how the hell can the PS3 be "overrated", when most outlets haven't rated it very well in the first place. It's far too early in the lifecycle of the product to be rating it one way or the other. The package seriously needs to be fixed to contain component cables and a longer charge cord though.
shekki @ Jan 19th 2007 12:20AM
umm if the ps3 is up there the wii should definetly be there as well. i have all 3 systems, or i have the ps3 and 360 while a roomate has the wii. ill admit the wii was fun intially, but all in all the games are so simple that i lose interest after an hour if that... i mean wii sports is fun but after swining your arm in one direction, it gets boring and not to mention tiring.
in fact my roomate just bought wario ware: smooth moves. i was hoping for something amazing... turns out that game falls a bit short of amazing (its actually kind of weird). it got a rating of 9.1 or something on ign according to my roomate. some of the the minigames on wario are stupid. for example you just move the wiimote to the right and you just completed one minigame. the game seems fit more for kids trying to develop their motorskills.
on the other hand, ill admit that the ps3 is lacking in some aspects namely game titles, but i certainly believe that it does not deserve a top 10 for being overated.
also in response to the ps3 being overpriced... the xbox360 i feel is just as costly. all the accessories the wireless adapter, quick charge packs, extra batteries, its not cheap. i spent over 200$ on controllers and stuff. i think people are misled when msft says that 360 is only 400
rawdawg @ Jan 21st 2007 6:39AM
well , besides disagree with ps3 , microsoft powerpoint, and the windows , i agree with the others , i mean how was at least powerpoint over hyped , i dont see many people using other programs like it , at the college i go too, but anywho , i will agree that playstation network is not that close to xbox live , but i dont own xbox , but when i had the money , i could have bought both , but i choose , the ps3 because its an all in one system. i dont have a seprate power brick and a seperate HD-dvd drive like the xbox 360 ,dont get me wrong , im a hardcore ps3 and i will always support sony , but i play on the xbox 360 and enjoy it at my friends homes, but none of them have live. well one did but stuff happened and he couldnt use it , so what happens so times , is if my friends want to play against people around the world they come to my house and play it on the ps3 ,anywho , way to sidetracked , i dont know how pc gaming mag. and consol gaming go hand an hand yet , but o well , everyone has ther opion.
josh @ Jan 19th 2007 12:45AM
I think they're confusing some of the overated products with just products. Powerpoint? Anyone hear hype about Powerpoint? Headphones? Ipod? What the hell is wrong with these people? A lame attempt at adding another page to a magazine. And the Cue Cat? If I remember it right, it was given for free by Radio Shack. I certainly don't remember it being announced as the biggest life changing product ever.
Andir2.0 @ Jan 19th 2007 12:54AM
@thinknexttime: The PS Store has dowloadable content... There was content added for several of the games including cars, tracks, maps, levels, etc... You can download Movies and TV Shows (there are currently none on there, but it CAN be done). Multitasking is coming (as with the 360 adding it later after launch).
The rest of that stuff is easily patchable, so it's not all that and a bag of roses.
nick @ Jan 19th 2007 1:03AM
I have a hard time respecting a PC magazine the says there were no great versions of Windows since 95. They're living in the past. Windows 95 was great (at the time) and I would even say ideal for home users. It sucked as far as business was concerned.
And Lotus 1-2-3 was the most popular spreadsheet application until Windows, and a suite package called Office that completely changed everything. Although 1-2-3 did make the jump to Windows, it took forever to appear, and by then it's market share was on the downward slide. IBM eventually purchased Lotus (for the purpose of acquiring Notes) and basically abandoned other Lotus products.
AOL is far less relevant now, but it holds a place in history for bringing the most mainstream online service to the masses, and may have been the first internet experience for many. AOL popularized instant messaging. And now they're operating a successful series of blogs (Weblogs), among other properties.
I fail to understand why PowerPoint is on the list. It's the most popular presentation package over the last decade. Most, if not all major corporations use it.
The iPod Shuffle is very popular flash-based player. I for one received the latest iteration as a gift, and now I find myself using it more than my hard drive based iPod due to size and convenience.
Never heard of :CueCat
I'm surprised anyone remembers Microsoft Bob. It disappeared quickly many many years ago. Wasn't it for Windows 3.1?
Goggle Video is an also ran, in a market dominated by YouTube.
I've never used the Bose headphones, so I can't comment on that one.
And the PS3's potential has hardly been realized. It's been what, two months since being released?
Pete @ Jan 19th 2007 1:33AM
@ thinknexttime
OOOOH, little touchy are ya with the "you let your mom purchase your PS3" comment.
Okay, here's the deal. Online is nice on a video gaming console. Very nice. Is it mandatory for a system to have online to be the deal sealer for me? No, not at all. I believe it is a necessary evil to have online access with a computer, becuz there is REALLY nothing much else to do with a computer, but a gaming console? Hey, u wanna play whatever with me, I have extra controllers, come over and make it more fun, I could care less for online, basically.
With that said, the biggest problem I have with the PS network is there is not so many things to pick from that I'm sick to my stomach (which in the case of nausea from too much variety is a good thing). Other than that, Loving the thing, yes, background downloading would be great, but in that case, it will be coming soon kinda like it took a while to come for the xbox 360.
And to address your question to my fellow PS3 owner as a PS3 owner myself, no I am definately upset with my PS3 purchase...NOT!!! (borat reference)
Um and I can't see how your longest paragraph proves that THEMES are not the only thing live offers better than PS Online. You sound as if you don't have a PS3 and are just blindly talking shit about something which u know only enough to argue densely about... Most of the things you've named by the second half to end are things I have used with the PS Network and I haven't even played online at all yet... This amount of flame should be backed by some type of research because you obviosly didn't consider that the PS3 had any of the features you named, poor choice of argument, my friend...
"And consumers aren't stupid, just loyal fanboys." From the horses mouth, out comes the self-reflected truth... I usually can competently argue a point with 360 fanboys because they usually have decent arguments, but you remind me of the PS fanboys that make me ashamed (flamed and confused:().
And according to Resistance, which you obviously haven't played with your lack of PS3, 40 players online isn't a gimmick, becuz gimmicks usually aren't supported widely. Hmmmm.... several 40 player matches happen all the time on resistance, must make it a good feature, otherwise it wouldn't get used much at all, would it?
Oh and as a side answer to that side comment, PS3 fanboy includes all news PS3. It would be completely convoluted and a fanboy site in denial if it were ALL good news. Shit happens, you should know about it. Same with the 360 last year this time.
Now that I think about it, the PS3 is following in the same footsteps as the 360 did in terms of a horrid backdrop. It was ridiculed b4 it was released when it was on MTV. It had release frenzy and Ebay high prices, sucky release games which I wouldn't have bought if I had gotten a 360 around launch (except the disappointing perfect darkh sequel. Like I said, disappointing:().
Anyway, Love my PS360gig, you love your 360, we can get along on different platforms as fans of our systems.
There are no games that interest me for the 360 except Gears of War, which is pretty pathetic to have one game that I like for the system, so didn't buy the system, no love loss, not my cup of tea, but hey, maybe u like it, good for you, you don't like PS3, your loss, why complain: I like what I like, u like what u like, end of story, no sequel so stop making it one.
Hoffer @ Jan 19th 2007 1:55AM
I'm more pissed about the iPod shuffle being on there. I've had the first and second generation version and love it. I use it all the time. It isn't for everyone, but if you have a use, it is awesome.

Perhaps it just shows the futility of trying to create such a list...
Apple HiFi

Apple Cube
Apple Pippin
UMPC Origami

Chiapet
E.T. for the Atari 2600
IBM PC jr.
3do Video Game System

In four years time your PS3 will be a nice conversaion piece. Anybody who thinks that PS Network even holds a candle to XBL has either NEVER seen XBL or is still trying to convince themselves that POTENTIAL is worth the $600 they spent. With XBL, I'm paying for a solid service and not potential. Wouldn't shock to find them selling PS3's by the pound at the electronics surplus store this time next year. Microsoft won't sit on their hands and wait for Sony to catch up. They'll ALWAYS be a year or more ahead of PS3. It's the last gen in reverse. People here are complaining that the press releases are always bad, why do they post it all the time. Every stop to think that there's been NO good news about this console since before E3 last year and even that turned out to be bullshit? Hell, not 3 months ago they told us that Motorstorm was shaping up to look BETTER than the E3 target render AND it would run 1080P@60FPS. Now we find out that it doesn't look even close and it going to be pushing 720P@30fps. Things like THAT are the reason the news is always bad people. Don't blame the media, blame the one who's creating the bad news and that would be SONY.
Andrew @ Jan 19th 2007 5:34PM
I'm not even going to mention the PS3/360 thing because that will never be resolved. What's important are the other things on this list.
Powerpoint, where do they get off putting that on the list. PP is never hyped and is by far the most important business tool in many of America's largest corporations, it is impossible to overhype powerpoint.
Windows? As much as anyone may hate Microsoft or Windows it is still important and holds the lion's share of the pc market. Yes, it may be years behind but that doesn't matter.
AOL? Did they miss the news when AOL had 100,000,000 subscribers. If it wasn't for AOL the internet would not be the same as it is today, there would be far fewer people online.
Bose headphones. These are very popular, very comfortable and rate well in the high-priced headphone category, not sure how they're oerhyped.
Lastly, maybe I'm just too young, but some of the things on the list I've never even heard of: cuecat? Lotus was important. iPod is extremely popular. Google video is an adequate video viewing site. It is just an overall bad article.
SuicideNinja @ Jan 19th 2007 11:58AM
"PS3 has REAL backwards compatibility?"
Are you serious? I have to keep a PS2 because the games look so horrible on my PS3...through COMPONENT. My PS2 cables use Monster S-Video, and it looks 10x better. They sure did upscale those games, didn't they? Oh wait.
I agree with 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 10. I don't know what Cuecat is though. I've used everything else besides "bob"
I also agree that the PS2 and the PS3 should be at the top of the list. Probably 2nd and 3rd respectively, while iPod is at the top. So many MP3 players...but the one of the worst ones is the top seller.
"I SERIOUSLY doubt you have a 360 or participate on Xbox Live. I have both a 360 and a PS3, and can tell you Live is years ahead of PSNetwork, both figuratively and in reality. It is well worth the $50.00"
I concur. PSN is so far removed from a gaming experience it's not even funny. I'm sad that I went to buy another PS3 game because RFoM is just not that good...but everything else I'm interested in is already on the 360. Sorry, the achievement replay value sells me there. Ninja Gaiden Sigma can't come fast enough. Nor FFXIII.
I got a bonus check for last year that made a PS3 purchase easy...and so far, I'm feeling like I wasted it on this thing.
Ciaran @ Jan 19th 2007 12:30PM
It definitely is over-rated. Many people who reviewed the console only gave it a good mark because they saw a console with lots of potential because of the Playstation brand and the all-mighty 'cell' chip.
The Playstation 3 has not lived up to the hype (that Sony created). There is little that the Playstation can do better than the 360. And that's a fact.
Ted Nemeth @ Jan 19th 2007 2:08PM
PC Magazine desperately grasping for relavence. Aex @ Jan 19th 2007 12:38PM
I'll never understand why Xbox 360 fanboys feel the need to come here and say Xbox > PS3. It just doesn't make any sense to me. If you don't like the PS3 why are you coming to a site called PS3fanboy? I know I visit the xbox 360 fanboy site, but I don't go there to bitch about how I might think that the Wii/Ps3 is better than the xbox 360, not to mention I actually own a Xbox 360.
Xbox live is nice, but I don't see what all the hoopla is. You spouted off all these great things about Xbox Live, and why $50 is worthwhile, but if you use the very basics of the Gold Pack then it is a slight waste. The PSN on the other hand does game matching for free. That is the difference, I have to pay $50 to play my games online with the xbox 360, where as if I had a ps3 I can play my games online for free. You may not like the amount of features in the free service, you may feel that your $50 is well spent, or you may just want to be a complete asshole and rain on other's parades, but no matter what you choose, this site is not the place for it.
Suicide Ninja, would you like a little cheese with that whine? Seriously dude, you have been very vocal about how much of a "sad panda" you were since you bought your ps3. If you feel so bad about purchasing it, do something about it. Or did you just buy a PS3 so you could bitch about it on fanboy websites? The only people that care about your whining are Sony-haters that can use it for fanboy fodder. Maybe you should change your name to Tickle-me-emo.
Let's see what else...The xbox 360 isnt as great as fanboys make it out to be. The year head start has given them 2-3 great games worth purchasing imo compared to sony's 1 at start. Xbox live is better than the PSN, but for the basics (playing games online) PSN is acceptable at the cost. Pointing_and_Laughing you are just an idiot. thinknexttime you are even more of an idiot. Suicideninja trying being less emo, cause no one cares when all you do is whine. Colt's will win the superbowl. And... Fuck all you fanboy idiots, no matter which side you are on. You can be a fanboy without being an idiot, try it sometime.

Why does Sony get so much HATRED on the web? Not only at this site but all over. I didnt buy a betamax or minidisc player, so I have no reason to be bitter.
You guys (and PC mag) act like the PS3 is some gigantic flop, yet the dam thing has not even been out for 3 months. The games will come and more people will buy it. Imagine Tekken 6 with motion sensing uppercuts?!?(orgasm)!!!! Imagine what Kojima will do with MGS4, considering what he did on PS2, and again: OH MY. I think way too many folks are also overlooking the possibilities of the SIX AXIS combined with a motivated programmer's creativity.
Maybe PS3 will flop, but we really wont know until next Christmas when each new system is established. But I have God given talent of picking winning technology in format/console wars; Ive never ended up with a bomb. The one time I did was the N64 (mulligan!)but to me it's ok because I had a PS1 already and Mario 64 is still my favorite all time game (non-Madden).
I wont lie I do not own a 360 (or want one) and I didnt have an original XBox either. It has nothing to do with Microsoft (good), the quality of the games (good) or graphical power (good) etc. The XBox controller just dont cut it for me. On the other hand the Sony controller just meshes as one with my hand since PS1.
Finally as an admitted biased Sony fanboy even I will say that the PS3 online network is crap as of 1/19/07. Sony IS moving like a mentally challenged snail (stuck in quick sand) with regards to getting the PS Store stocked up. Ive been waiting for them to set up an E-distribution service (like iTunes) for movies and PS1 games since I got the damn PSP last year. I guess theyre almost done with it since some PS1 games finally showed up, but would I like to see is a MASSIVE library of movies and tv shows magically appear one day so I can buyem and savem on the HD. Sony owns so much movie content I cant believe they're being this slow. I got this fancy 60gb model and I dont have time to put stuff from Pc to memory stick to harddrive. Speed it up already SONY, willya?! Holy cow I got carried away I just wrote a book :-O

Seriously Doubt Nothing. Look up Kruegmeister XBox Live Gamertag, I had it since the XBox1.
I have a 360 I had a XBox1, and YOUR MOM not my Mom bought them for me.
Themes are not worth $50 a year to me.
The Gamer Zones Don't Work, The Rating System does not Work, Mine is set to Family and My Son still hears tons of Swearing. So I pay $50 a year for a Gamer Zone that does not Work.
Connecting my PC to my 360, I did it. Then never touched it again. Same thing for the PSP connecting to my PS3, neat I can view Videos and MP3s off of my PS3, I'll never use it.
Online Gaming, Demos, thats what XBox Live and PS Network do. They Both do it Good.
I seriously doubt that you don't work for Microsoft.
I use both Network systems. I don't Find Live to be that much better. I have ACTUALLY Used Both. Now that the PS3 version is free, I don't want to pay for the same thing from Live.

"Are there still PS3's on shelves?"
I have only seen 1 20Gig at Target.
BestBuy - None.
GameStop will have some from time to time.
It is actually the 20 Gig Models that don't sell well.
Huh, the $499 Version sells worse than the $599 Version.
I didn't want anything to do with the $499 version either. I bought the Premium XBox as Well. Although, I think the $499 PS3 is not nearly as Worthless as the $299 360 Core Version, the $499 version is Comparable only to the $399 360 Premium (+ you get a BluRay Player).
These 360Fanboys come over to PS3Fanboy saying that we are trying to justify our $600 purchase.
1) There is a $499 version.
2) You coming over to this site defending your $49 a year XBox Live Charge.

Kenter @ Jan 19th 2007 9:02PM
Well, Kruegmeister their is one thing I found wrong with your addition. The HardDrive is only 100$ for the 360, making every year 100 dollars smaller than what you portrayed.
I agree with the fact that the price will keep going up and up and up. But think of this... if your phone bill costs 50$ a month. In 5 years I doubt you will look back and say how much you have paid for your phone bill. I've had xbox live since March of 2002 I think. And if I add it up right I think I’ve spent around 250 dollars on that alone. Now I'm also thinking of what I had looked like in 2002. I was in 8th grade. I can remember it like it was yesterday. I had a blast! I remember having the ps2 also. That was a kick a$$ time to. I liked both systems and i think price is not what to compare systems to.
If you complain about 50 dollars for a year of countless hours of entertainment then you should consider this. How many games do you buy a year and if you buy a couple then subtract one. I you only buy one then get the ps3 for 200 dollars more and forget about 4 years of fun live experience with some problems but I think we all agree much less problems then with the ps3. (At this time, who know what it will be like in four years) Both look tempting but you should stop complaining and look at what is best for you. If you read a dumb a$$ comment about your favorite system then i think you need to show a little restraint like all humans should from time to time and leave it off the forums.
Thanks for reading my comment and just remember. It's what is best for you, and what you like not what others like.
p.s. If any fanboy goes crazy and starts giving me sh1T. The opposite fanboy and their own fanboys should show some of that restraint I commented on and just skip their Comment. If you don't like it don't read it. That's what I try to do and also Kruegmeister I don't mean to offend It's just something i saw, and had to correct.
knight marquise @ Jan 19th 2007 9:42PM
@Kruegmeister
I did. If that is actually your gamertag, if so I stand corrected. Initially I took your post seriously, then I went back to the "my MOM not your MOM bought my game for me." 'Your Mom' jokes are truly outdated, and not usually indicative of someone who claims to be as old/mature as your posts would seem to insinuate.
I'm 40 years old, I always buy every console, and have had all consoles from the Atari 2600 forward. Granted I have owned more xboxes then others simply because the family enjoyed/enjoys them more then the PS3, PS2, PS1, GameCube, N64, you get the picture. Additionally, the PS2 had MANY great exclusives, but that appears to be a fading thing of the past as well. Lastly, MS brought built in networking to the picture with the first box, so as I have 7 rooms in my house, I bought 7 xboxes. Granted, now 1 son has joined the US Navy, another son and daughter are in college, and I'm left with my twins and wife, so this gen, there's 4 360's, a PS3, and haven't been able to find a Wii yet.
Gamerzones do work, people, on the other hand, don't always place themselves in the correct gamerzone.
I'm glad you like the PS Network better. From my perspective, it is alot like live was with the Xbox. There is NO unified gaming community on the PS Network. I'm sure Sony will copy Live, and bring more features eventually, and that's a good thing.
Microsoft has had several years to work on their online service. It is my humble opinion, however, that anyone stating the PS Network is just as good as live is either a fanboy, or truly hasn't experienced both networks to their fullest, because Live is a much more robust, community oriented, and you're networked with your friends. Suffice it to say, my personal philosophy is you get what you pay for. I will enjoy my PS3 for the exclusives I get from it, but when it comes to achievements, and an online community where I'm connected to all my online gaming friends, I stick with Live.
Good Gaming

This is gonna turn into a pissing contest and I haven't the patience to sit here and say it 50 times over since you are obviously stuck on 360. And you call us fanboys, ha.
Okay, let me reiterate, I don't care much for online, in terms of what it's main feature is which is to play other players online. As for the extra stuff, downloading demos, extra content for games, using the internet browser, and other extras, I have maxed those features out and they work well. Don't see how it could be done any better really in that aspect. I don't recall arguing with you that ALL aspects of PS online was greatest, but I do know that for the most part, its missing a couple of nuance things that you herald to be glaring flaws that will ruin Sony. Wow, now that is delusional for sure.
What's even more bothering is that, 2 months into the damn launch, the PS3 is a failure in your eyes (typical fanboy behavior). You can't help but compare that same notion to the 360 which launched with the same gloom and doom speech from others (especially with the heavy recall period that they were getting).
Let me put this to rest Mr. thinknexttime, if the PS3 suddenly becomes a failure like the Dreamcast did in the PS2 era, then I will be shit out of luck like the other PS3 customers. So hmmm, how does this benefit a 360 fanboy such as yourself? Will you benefit in any way knowing that I chose the system that didn't succeed? If that is the case, even unconsciously, you are no better than a Sony fanboy elitist during the PS2 era.
I'm not buying a 360 still, hell, I bought a PS3 becuz I feel that Xbox needs to up their fun factor games instead of releasing FPS after FPS. Even then, the fun factor games are not quality. I even got sick of my PS2 and original Xbox after a while and bought a gamecube to change the scenery.
I have the PSWii combo and both bode well for my entertainment purposes. I don't see a need for the 360 because I don't like the games they offer now or in the future. The PS3, however, will have great games. Even the cross platform games I still like better on the PS3. For example, I bought Fight Night Round 3 and I remember back when I played it on the 360, I said, I can't wait to play this when it's on the PS3, and you know what? I love it on the PS3! Didn't like the 360 controller and most of the games that they have exclusive, so why would I choose it over the PS3!?
It boils down to personal preference and I WILL SAY IT AGAIN. YOU LOVE THE XBOX 360, I'M HAPPY FOR YOU, FEEL PRIDE IN YOUR INVESTMENT AS I DO IN MINE. I LOVE MY PS3, THE LEAST YOU COULD DO IS LEAVE ME TO LOVE MY SYSTEM IN PEACE IF YOU FEEL THREATENED BY ITS POTENTIAL. I felt sorry for the people who bought Dreamcast's when the PS3 came out and demolished them. The only winner is the opposing corporation, the other corporation and their customers lose. How is that anything that you would wish for?? I don't wish for the demise of the 360, i hope they succeed, if not with my direct financial support. How dare you.
So, let's put this issue to bed, please. (which if you do, it will literally be the saddest thing I've ever seen from any 360 fanboy). If your system is winning so tough, why are you on here, a ps3 fanboy site, debating with ps3 fans and fanboys alike on an issue which u will never agree on? Please, instead of wasting your time as you are wasting mine, go play someone on Xbox Live.
Pete @ Jan 19th 2007 10:04PM
@Azorean
Yeah, can't say the same about the 360 last year because they weren't producing enough. You 360 fanboys spin it to make Sony damned if they do, damned if they dont. Systems sold out, Sony isn't keeping up with demand, Systems in stores, Sony has fallen off and their demand isn't wanted anymore. Either way, it still equates to you that Sony sucks and Microsoft Rulez. Sad, it really is...
Nice name by the way if u are referring to the bittorent
app.
Dan Green @ Jan 19th 2007 11:05PM
I agree with you Ed, there's no way that the game can be overrated at this point. Game developers and Blu-Ray DVD manufacturers haven't even tried to reach the full potential with the system.
Personally, I'm more of an Xbox 360 Fan Boy, than PS3, but I like what I've seen from the system in the early going, and I plan on picking one up in the next couple of weeks.
Sony has a proven track record with game systems, and I don't see it stopping now. I'd like to see this list next year again to see if the editors at PC Magazine feel the same way.

LOL... You hate SONY because they dominated the gaming market. And you like Microsoft because they don't dominate any market?
umm... what do you think Bill Gates wants?
He wants to dominate the gaming market as well.
But I agree with your overall idea. I don't want any console to die out. That would suck. SONY or Microsoft or Nintendo leaving gaming would suck. I was sad when SEGA dropped the Dreamcast.
So yeah... just don't hate SONY for being successful in the past and wanting be successful now; every company wants to do the same.

"I'll never understand why Xbox 360 fanboys feel the need to come here and say Xbox > PS3. It just doesn't make any sense to me. If you don't like the PS3 why are you coming to a site called PS3fanboy? I know I visit the xbox 360 fanboy site, but I don't go there to bitch about how I might think that the Wii/Ps3 is better than the xbox 360, not to mention I actually own a Xbox 360."
Right on man. That's what I have noticed to. It seems like the 360 guy's really are defensive about the PS3 release, and hearing developers saying that their systems won't play games. The Ps3 hooks up to the internet through a LAN port. It will be very easy to get an excellent online platform considering how easy it is to make web pages. It's been said lots. Xbox live wasen't great and they have had 7 years to develop it. But the internet has been developed for a long time and if the PS3 utilizes all the fetures of a LAN like a computer does it will take about 1.5 years to do the upgrades that the Xbox live network has accomplised in seven. Since the PS3 is using an exsisting network to build off of. If the 360 with Xbox live was as great as they would have you believe; they wouln't be here kicking the S#(% out of the PS3. I also like the point about how Ps3 fanyboy's can admit that the system has flaws, print it on their fanboy site, but still appreceate what it will be.

I can see from your comment who is retarded SOB. My retarded friend, those units were sold because of software. Remember what Sony told about PS2's emotion engine, "toy story like graphics" and sh!t. PS's tagline should be "hyping it up".
Now don't go too hard on your keyboard, be a good kid and listen to your mama.

I can't see why all you Sony fanboys are upset that PC mag has the PS3 overrated. Haven't all the Sony executives called the PS3 a PC? So it seems perfectly logical to me that a PC mag overrate a PC. Although they do have some none PC related items on the list like the Bose QuietComfort 2 Headphones and the iPod shuffle, which I agree with. Although, I think some of you are missing the point of the Windows 95 reference. Warning: I'm dating myself. For those of you who actually remembering using Windows 3.1(Windows for Workgroups) Windows 95 was a HUGE leap forward in a PC interface. Notice I said PC, don't want to get into a Mac debate at this time. But as for subsequent Windows releases after Win95, nothing much in the realm of groundbreaking unless you count the OS being more stable from Win95 to Win98, WinNt, WIN2000, WinXP and soon Vista. But I reserve judgment on Vista as I have not used the OS. I have used all the previous Win OS.
Brian @ Jan 20th 2007 6:14AM
I don't agree with a lot of this. And as for people saying xbox live is great. No it really isn't. I sold my 360 and bought a ps3. I have never liked microsoft and as far as I am concerned they can stay far away from the console market. And the ipod shuffle sucks. I have some rca mp3 player that was around $40 it holds the same as a shuffle, actually has a screen, sounds really good, has a rechargeable battery, and is about the same size. I have no use for anything apple makes...

Nice one man. I was/am in the same boat, it's hard to watch your friends waste money isn't it??
It'f funny how the 360 guy's think there system rocks!!! When the PS3 is better in every way. It's like this u 360 boys. Right now the systems look the same because of cross developing. I know you guy's think this isn't a problem, but look at the CPU industry; developers go crazy becasue of the wide variety of systems out there so they have to program the game to work on older systems. The truth in this is hard to handel I know, but when MGS4 won't play on the 360 becasue of a lack of specs. Mostly Space. It really gets hard to handel. I just hope that you Xbox guys have a smart friend that has a Ps3 so you can really try it and in a couple of years you wil buy it. The PS3 will probably keep up with the Xbox720 or what ever it's going to be called. I mean what's it going to have 8 to 10 processors. A Hi DEF opticle drice onboard, a sweet GPU, and a HDD(standart)? Sounds a lot like a system we are all familiar with dosen't it?
Happy Gaming!

Couldn't make an intelligent point so you decided an insult would make you feel better? Aww, it's OK P&L. Pathetic, yes, but OK. I'll go a little easier on you next time so you don't end up crying yourself to sleep at night anymore. Fucking retard. After all the bile you spewed over this topic, your only defense is a weak quip using my own words? Next time you decide to write a little comment and click that little button, just stop. You'll save yourself and everyone else from the retarded babble of an impotent little queer with nothing else to do but hate on a company for no other reason than internet bandwagoning.
Oh my, I sure do get carried away handing retards thier asses. On topic, I don't understand why powerpoint is up there. Powerpoint is like a necessity now-a-days, I don't know one major corporation or business that has said, "You know what, this powerpoint thing is overhyped, why do we need to have a professional looking presentation when we have this whiteboard marker here?"
