RUMOR: BioWare starting to work on a PS3 title! Yesss...
There! We qualified the subject line with a giant, all-caps RUMOR sticker... so you already know ahead of time to take the information with a grain of salt. The rumor is thus: BioWare is on board the Sony train, developing something for the PlayStation 3. BioWare is, of course, a company that Microsoft has been trying so hard to hold onto exclusively that they've begun to choke their creative juices. The rumor comes from a friend of a friend that went to a show where people spoke with one of the heads of BioWare. The BioWare co-CEO supposedly confirmed to a good number of people that the company was actively developing on the PS3, but was officially quoted as saying: "We haven't officially announced support for the PS3, but stay tuned..." We will. We certainly will.

doesn't surprise me they have talked about PS3 Jade Empire before

as long as its not a port from a 360 game i am interested.... Hoping its a new exclusive IP.

Well, I doubt Bioware would develop anything "exclusively" for the PS3. Especially if they want to sell copies and make a return on their investment.

"Especially if they want to sell copies and make a return on their investment. "
One of the funniest lines that you see repeated again and again about the PS3. Guess how many 360 sold when R6 / GRAW were released? 3mn. How many when gears / Dead Risning were launched: 6m. So whats the big deal????

Like I have said before they have stated there intentions to make Jade Empire 2 a multiplatform game

Do Microsoft have any creative juices? I thought they just bought people who had ideas they wish they'd come up with.

Microsoft is not a game developer and never claimed to be. They make successful game consoles and services like Xbox Live to attract developers to make games for their console.

To samik (#5.) Completely different circumstance. The developers of GRAW and Dead Rising were committed to developing next gen titles and the 360 was the only next gen system on the market.

I also think it will be the port of Jade Empire the game did not sell well on the Xbox that is why it is coming out on the PC. So they will also bring it to the PS3. Seeing as that game really is a Japan game at heart I could see it selling well on the PS3.
I just hope that Bioware is making a PS3 game. Several people on the Gap Forums where talking about wanting more east game designers so may be Sony was reading what people wanted and now there will more of the great East game designers that make sweet RPGs.

More developers = good news. The Bioware site lists their current game with one "New Next Gen Game." Hopefully this is the ps3 title, and it is far enough along to have a placeholder for an announcement.

I have a website here that begs to differ: http://www.microsoft.com/games/
From the 'description' meta tag: "Microsoft Game Studios is a leading worldwide publisher and developer of games for the Xbox® video game system, the Windows® operating system and online platforms."
I'd say that qualifies as claiming to be a game developer.

Microsoft have no direct creative control over Biowares games, they merely publish them.
What is it about Sony and their fanbois that makes them speak/write so much BS?
Engo P @ Jan 25th 2007 10:06PM
@12: They talk BS because they haD no better use for their PS2 controllers and their rumble so they shoved those up their ass. Now, the shit comes out their mouth. :) Hope that answers your question.

Hi hi. Hope you had fun missing my point.
What's that whooshing sound?
Matt @ Jan 26th 2007 11:35AM
Well, maybe in the generic sense they refer to themselves as a developer since they oversee the development of important games like Gears of War and Halo 3. But none of those "featured" games on the site are developed by Microsoft. What is developed by Microsoft? Fight Simulator? The benchmark pinnacle of Flight Simulators. If so, that goes back to the original post that started this thread,
"6. Do Microsoft have any creative juices? I thought they just bought people who had ideas they wish they'd come up with."
I guess the answer is yes then. They have lots of creative juices. More importantly though, they know which developers to align themselves with. They don't need to be a developer.
