Look out! It's Godzilla!
Daddy Joystiq is reporting that Atari is reviving Godzilla for the PSP (among other systems). Godzilla Unleashed is being created by Pipeworks Software who also worked on the previous Godzilla games, so they know a thing or two about the giant lizard. If you haven't played a Godzilla game before, they're basically what you think they'd be, an all out monster fighting game.
Pipeworks is saying that Godzilla Unleashed's single-player will group the monsters from the history of the film series into four factions that will each have their own narrative path. The cities will feature destructable buildings, so that even when you aren't hitting a monster, you're still destroying something.
I think it's great to have a new Godzilla game on PSP, but am I the only one that would love to see a War of the Monsters sequel on PSP?

That young'n in the picture is Minya, or 'Minira' in Japan. Godzilla's offspring as seen in Son of Godzilla, Godzilla's Revenge, Destroy All Monsters and most recently in 2004's Godzilla: Final Wars. (There was 'Baby Godzilla' who grew to be 'Godzilla Junior' in the 90's or 'Heisei' films but that wasn't Minya.)
Godzilla was 'Gojira' there, too - a combo of 'kujira' (whale) and 'gorilla'.
The previous two Atari/Pipeworks Godzilla games have totally delivered the goods to Godzilla fans with fantastic multiplayer arena fighting with a big assortment of faithfully rendered and represented monsters spanning multiple generations of Godzilla films.
This was perhaps the most anticipated game I was hoping to see on PSP, and my most hoped-for continuation of a franchise. And will likely also prompt me to re-purchase a Wii so I can play the earlier Gamecube Godzilla game & brush up for the new one! Definitely a multi-plat purchase for a hardcore Kaiju fan like me.
