Requires 3.10...?
txa1265 @ Feb 2nd 2007 8:56AM
Critically acclaimed?!? It doesn't even make the 'Top 100' on MetaCritic's PSP list! And for good reasons, too!
That said - it is great fun, so what are you waiting for ... go download NOW!
uzair @ Feb 2nd 2007 9:22AM
it ran on my 3.03 firmware psp so it doesnt require 3.10
spir00 @ Feb 2nd 2007 9:43AM
the controls suck, but the game is fun, just don't like the controls.
dude34 @ Feb 2nd 2007 10:11AM
Amazing! Great graphics! The controls aren't that bad it only needs to turn a little quicker. When is the next installedment of demos?
spir00 @ Feb 2nd 2007 10:21AM
go into controls in the menu and you can adjust the speed of it.
Jeff Cossey @ Feb 2nd 2007 10:33AM
I bought this game at Christmas time, the controls work just fine you just have to practice a little. I was strafing in no time. The graphics and sounds was Awesome, I only wish it would have been a little longer. If this game did not make MetaCritic's top 10 let alone the top 100 than he is a fool who should not be playing games, and for good reason too!
This game rocked!

Re #6: "If this game did not make MetaCritic's top 10 let alone the top 100 than he is a fool who should not be playing games, and for good reason too!"
MetaCritic is an aggregation site - they pull reviews from all sorts of other sites and average them up, sort of like GameRankings or GameStats. MetaCritic and GameRankings both show the game having a 71% average review score based on 23 & 24 reviews respectively.
I agree - my review at GamerDad was right in that range. Controls were inadequate but acceptable, campaign was way too short, and the overall experience was good but not great.
Alien @ Feb 2nd 2007 10:55AM
Cool demo , thanks a lot :)
Jeff Cossey @ Feb 2nd 2007 11:00AM
Gamestats average for this game is at 7.2, I still don't agree about the comment for good reason too, can you explain in deatail why you agree this game does not belong in a top 100. You gave some reasons, but the don't justify such a low rating. Let's not forget you can also play this game infrastructure mode which is uncommon for a FPS on the PSP so far. I have played FPS on pc's since the orginal Doom came out and this was the first FPS I have played on a portable. Saying that the controls worked out really well and I had great in game control. The Music I would also add was just about as cinematic as the PC version.
IMO I think G4 really nailed the review

Jeff:
The PSP excels at the type of slow-paced shooter style exemplified by SOCOM but doesn't do well at all with run-n-gun action such as Quake & Unreal style play. MoH on thePC was faster paced than the PSP can reasonably manage, but I think that the PSP version is pretty good regardless. The controls are generally good, but I found that turning was like steering a tank in a real FPS until I tweaked the turn rate to max, then it was acceptable. I could have liked that setting centered at where the game had the maximum, as turning was sluggish. The multiplayer is pretty solid and lots of fun, but it pales compared to SOCOM2 ... and the single player is really, really short - 4 hours? Heck, that's less than Half-Life 2 Episode One or SiN: Episodes!
As for the 'not in top 100', that is a simple matter of there being >100 games with aggregate scores higher than 71%. That isn't a bad thing - that just means there are tons of games in the 70's on the PSP!
edd @ Feb 2nd 2007 12:15PM
does this demo have ad-hoc multiplay? or just skirmish?
-=TRKSTER=- @ Feb 2nd 2007 12:55PM
I don't dispute the games shortcomings, just the initial comments towards the game. I honestly didn't feel that was a fair assessment of the game.
Question:txa1265
Did you beat the game in 4 hours on the hardest difficulty setting? My hat is off to you if you did as it took about that long on easy but going back through the game on hard and trying to get a better rating it is taking much longer for me. Fully completing all goals will take longer, but if you are running through just to complete a level then I can see it not taking nearly as long to beat, but then again you miss out on some of the fun and atmosphere the game has to offer.
anon @ Feb 2nd 2007 1:20PM
Anyone know what firmware this requires?
The Poet @ Feb 2nd 2007 2:02PM
awesome yet another FPS on the PSP. how much fun i'll have with the crappy controls. Guess i'm going to have to just look at the pretty graphics, especially the ones during the loading screens.

Be strong, don't take the bait. Repeat after me - Be strong, don't take the bait. Be strong, don't take the bait

The Poet, you are banned.
pigf4ce @ Feb 2nd 2007 6:14PM
The demo requires firmware 3.03
txa1265 @ Feb 2nd 2007 6:24PM
Thanks Andrew! I hope that we can get more productive PSP-centric debate going (which doesn't preclude critical commentary) without DS-only trolls!
XeroTrinity @ Feb 2nd 2007 6:28PM
Woooo... Just got 18-1. Beat that! =P
Kade Storm @ Feb 2nd 2007 6:31PM
...yay, one troll down - a dozen more to go.
Dude, MOH ROCKED! Out of the shooters on PSP, it was certainly one of the better ones. I found Socom to be more, advanced and you know, dandy. But as a moderate-paced shooter, which I craved, MOH did the job. MOH, and Syphon. I hope the controls are similarly stable for the Coded Arms sequel.
BooN @ Feb 2nd 2007 7:07PM
Oh yea 19-2... Camping is easy on the demo
pixelator @ Feb 2nd 2007 7:21PM

I've wanted to try out Medal of Honor: Heroes ever since it came out, if only for the 32-player infrastructure play, but feared the FPS controls would be hard to deal with. Now I can try out the demo and see how well it actually handles--pretty adequately, I think. Thanks for the demo!
Justin @ Feb 2nd 2007 9:25PM
yah FW 3.03 OE-C!
pete @ Feb 2nd 2007 9:56PM
How come from the YourPSP site, if you click that your from the United States it goes to us.playstation.com and there isnt a download thing there. saying im in the UK wont matter right?
pete @ Feb 2nd 2007 10:19PM
Okay ive got another question. i downloaded it using the other link that was given here, but im trying to register on the yourpsp site. if i say im from the US it sends me to the playstation.com site, so i said i was from the UK. now i need to have my serial number along with model number. Yet ive got the 1001 model which you cant select. im assuming it wasnt available in the UK? is there something i can do to be able to register?
Matt @ Feb 3rd 2007 2:37AM
Has anyone else experience problems trying to run this with the 3.03 OE-C firmware? When copied to the /GAME303/ folder, it doesn't want to boot under the default 1.5 firmware, yet it does under the 3.03 firmware. I've tested all the other demos I had on hand and they work as normal.
Ben Grout @ Feb 3rd 2007 6:01AM
I can't get it to work at all under 3.03 OE-C with 1.5 or 3.03.
spir00 @ Feb 3rd 2007 9:54AM
I guess you need to go to a homebrew site.
I'm running on 3.10
I guess you need to wait for homebrew to catch up to play this demo:)
BooN @ Feb 3rd 2007 4:44PM
You just have to put it in the game folder... Thats all i did. Im running 3.03-OEC, no need to over complicate things with special folders!
matt @ Feb 3rd 2007 6:40PM
RE #31 - copying the folder to /GAME/ and running the demo results in the PSP shutting down on its own.
john @ Feb 3rd 2007 6:55PM
i got a 3.10 so im going to try it anyway..hope it workd
skarface @ Feb 4th 2007 3:54AM
Huh, don't work on my 303OEB, oh well.
frankie @ Feb 4th 2007 8:25AM
cool ass demo but da record of killing people is too hard to beat.
babyboyjz25 @ Feb 4th 2007 8:26AM
cool ass demo but da record of killing people is way too hard to beat.
Panzival @ Feb 10th 2007 9:55PM
Very fun game... controls only take a while to get used to. Just wish you could choose your weapon when you spawned.
ROACHbud @ Feb 6th 2007 7:59PM
i own this game, it may not have a long story mode, but since when is that what your looking for in a FPS? usually the main attraction of a FPS is either the online gameplay or a quick game of shoot em up. either way i rate the game 9.0 out of 10, dissagree if you will, but this game rocks!!!
Dan the man @ Feb 8th 2007 10:28AM
Bloody mint what a kwl demo cant wait if there's more of these to come
Ali @ Feb 8th 2007 8:12PM
Haven't tried it yet but it sounds fun. Well here goes. :)
Nick @ Feb 16th 2007 1:02AM
I bought this game not long after christmas and i love it. I espesially like the 32 player multiplayer. My best skirmish score is 46.
vladdamad @ Feb 16th 2007 10:04AM
OMG! 26-0!!! MWAHAHAHA I got spawned on the tower thingy, then I shot everyone wit my thompson, then I saw that one dead guy had a gehwer rifle, and then I used that to kill everyone who came past!
Mark @ Mar 24th 2007 10:58AM
It wont let me download the demo. How do u Download it.
Ben Sunderland @ Mar 30th 2007 11:32PM
I followed instruction to letter and it did not work with 3.30 firmware which is latest as i write.
It says extract the zip (including folder) and then copy folder to games folder in PSP.
WHen i go there on PSP, i can see the thumbnail of the demo but trying to launch gives black screen and mem stick light show. All other demos i have dones same and all work.
