WipEout coming to PS3 -- SIXAXIS abilities included
According to IGN, a "key developer" over at Sony's Liverpool studio confirmed for certain that the futuristic sci-fi racer WipEout is in development for the PS3. The game is planned to fully support the SIXAXIS (but hopefully keep it optional if it turns out to be wonky like the Motorstorm demo) and "maybe online multiplayer and downloadable content." To be fair, you can decide on that later -- that's the beauty of downloadable content. You don't have to make the game everything it needs to be at first. Tacking more maps on later is A-OK nowadays. You crazy kids! I remember the day... blah, blah, blah. That's... really all we've got for this one. This was rumored a while back, but it seems to be based on truth. That's nice.

C'mon Sony, we all want to see what the PS3 can do with a next generation WipEout. This should be a nice demo of what the system can handle.

Nice. Seeing as the Wipeout PSP game completely showed off the systems capabilities and is still fun thanks to downloadable tracks/content, I'm excited to see what they do with the PS3 version. I mean, that PSP version looked amazing, imagine if they really dig into the Cell's strengths. Keep it coming!

This is amazing. I don't have a PS3 yet, but I love the Wipeout series, and this will increase my interest in the system.

I say bring the Designers Republic back!
Wipeout Fusion simply lacked their touch, it didn't even feel like a proper Wipeout.

Wipeout is the one game that I want on PS3. I bought a PS1 for Wipeout, PS2 for Wipeout Fusion (which I did like - althougth not as much as XL) and PSP for Wipeout Pure. PLEASE SONY make this one good. I will gladly hand over $600+ for this game.

Speaking to the 'wonky Motorstorm demo' I found that if you hold the controller with its back facing the television (like a steering wheel) it works a thousand times better...

I thought the motorstorm use of SIXAXIS wasn't too bad

#6. Next time I see a PS3 demo unit, I will give it a try. I'm still not sold on the whole motion control on a winged controller, but contrary to popular belief, I WILL give it a shot.
And Doerr. Thanks for calling the Motorstorm Sixaxis control what it is.
But I also have to say, you would never see a "maybe" accompany rumors of online features on a 360 game... Hell, when it comes to online, 360 hardly ever has a "rumor", period. Come on devs. I know it's hard to get online done in PS3 games, but you need to save Sony....
