Is Skype coming to the PSP? [Update 1]

This mumbo-jumbo that appears on your screen happens to be code extracted from a decrypted version of firmware 3.10. MaTiAz from QJ appears to have uncovered a reference to a "skype_plugin" within the code. While the functionality is clearly not present in the current revision of PSP's firmware, it appears that Sony's working on something for a future upgrade. Historically, it appears that hints to future functionality is hidden away in the code: references to the PSP camera and GPS were found in earlier decrypted firmware, long before they were officially released.
A similar Sony product, the Mylo, has implemented Skype functionality in the past. Certainly, being able to have some kind of VoIP service (free, or not) would increase the value of Sony's portable even more. Will you celebrate if Sony releases this in a future firmware revision?

what I wonder about skype is can you call people or have people clal you that aqre onr egular phones or cell phones or can you only communicate with toher skype users?

This is great, finally! Ive been waiting for this since September. This feature will probably come out in the 3.50 or above.

What they should do is make PSOne downloads independent from the PS3 to begin with, I think that's priority.
This Skype feature should only become available when the camera add-on is released in the west, and hopefully it should finally allow the long ago promised video chat.

To Strangler: a) I could barely understand what you tried to ask, so next time try not to speak gibberish :)
b) With SkypeIn and SkypeOut you can be called from the regular phone network and call into the regular phone network. This costs money, though.

Yep. Anything that has a phone number - any place on the face of the Earth - is fair game. Unlimited calling to phnes (any phones including cell) in US & Candada: $30 per YEAR. Calling to most landlines in the world: about 2 cents per minute.
