Virtua Fighter 5 received game of the month, with a 9.5, 10, and 9.5 as its score. It's competition for the month was
Crackdown, which fell a way's behind. Now, correct us if we're wrong, but aside from
Twilight Princess for the WiiCube (which we technically shouldn't count for this claim, but will anyways) this is the highest score any next-gen game has received in the last six months. Even
Gears of War was scored lower in the mag. What are we trying to say? Well, come Spring, you 360 owners will have a fantastic fighting game to enjoy. Until then, find a friend with a PS3 and try this bad boy out.
So, what's the deal, then, Sega? Why are we only getting 720p support? The Japanese version had 1080i and 1080p support... even though Japanese gamers believe those are simply upscaled resolutions and not "truly" supported. In truth, it doesn't matter. This game is probably going to be the highlight of February and perhaps most of March. We'll be back with our very first PS3 game review before the end of the month!

To #1: Yes. It is... Now WTF does that have to do with VF5 and it's absence of 1080p? GoW2 having 720p is a good thing, being as it's a PS2 game. But, dammit, all PS3 games should be in 1080p.

Ratings really do mean nothing anymore. Not saying VF5 isn't good but if its 10 good it better change fighting games forever rather then just look pretty and controlling well.
Even the Japanese didnt think it was worth it as it sold less then DOA4 at launch even with more PS3s sold then 360s.

Got mine last Friday (Japanese import) and it's amazing. Anyone who wants to see what the PS3 is capable of, pick this baby up. 720P or 1080i, it still looks and plays amazingly. Great title for all of us who have been waiting for something to sink our teeth into. Bring on the rest!!!

Also..just to add to what I said in #7, I may be mistaken but I believe the disc is exactly the same in both Japan and American regions. When I put my disc in (Japanese version) it auto sensed the region I was in and all the language/menus/voices went to full English. Why would they do that just to make another disc for America with the only difference being resolution? Mine runs in 1080I (the best my TV can do)...I'm willing to bet the US version will too.

I don't see why you WiiTards brag so much, you paid $250 in a system that lacks the most basic stuff in this generation...
1.Lack of HD graphics.
2.No HDD, that means no good downloadable content.
3.Lack of good online support, friend code sucks major balls.
4.Virtual console = crap. My PSP can run all that...
5.Lack of good media support, while x360 and PS3 can play all kinds of shit you throw at them.
Is this supposed to be the revolution?
But don't worry, by the end of the year Nintendo will do a Revolution Returns a.k.a Wii2 with all that and you all will pay more $350 for it.

O.K. Absolut. If you're console is so SUPERIOR to the Wii, why is it tanking compared to the little system that could.not only that, but when you're last gen counterpart is beating the living crap out of you in sales you have a major problem. Just because the Wii isn't in 720p doesn't mean it is less superior.( Don't give me that 1080p bull, still haven't seen a game on the PS3 do it well.) So just becase you have two good games, also one of those will be a port, does not mean that you are superior to two other consoles with better games. Also, the virtual console is ingenious. Who wants to buy an already expensive handheld and an overly expensive console just so that they can a small library of old titles. Come on man. $250 to play excellent titles from 7 different systems, compared to $800 plus a ridiculously large memory card to play titles from three systems. Is it just me or is one superior to the other? So go ahead and rag on the system for it's graphics and lack of a hard drive, but what it all comes down to is games. And if the only thing you got is a pretty, but over to soon shooter, Resistance, and an excellent fighter that wil also be going to another system that shall not be named, you really have a problem. here's hoping Fall 2007 looks better!
Also, I'm not ragging on the game, I own a ps3, and am wishing I could get $600 back. Seriously, i haven't touched the thing since for two months. How is that for superior!

second ok so the wii can play 7 diferent system, so you want to compare the psx/ps2 library with the n64/ngc?
third PS3 has the power to be the homebrew paradise, what that means? A shitload of emuladors, so you can put alot more systems in this list...

a.j. One of the advantages of PS3 games is that they will be multiregion. But not only that, one of the benefits of Blu-ray is that they only need one disc for all regions! all languages will be on the same disc. As you have discovered. I guess the only cosmetic changes will be exterior for each region. i.e. language on the packaging etc.

Yeah, because that entire "WiiCube" sentence wasn't worded awkwardly. Fact remains, it came out as a next-gen title, and it was the Wii version that got the ridiculously high score. I can't stand Zelda games, but I'm that doesn't mean I'm stupid enough to use a term that clearly shouldn't have been used, and then go on to say that it shouldn't even count.
Plus your whole Nintendo "cannibalization" remark in the following blog entry doesn't aid your "I didn't mean to" excuse.
If you would, please, don't lable me either. I've played them all, and I've enjoyed them all. However, for a guy and a site who constantly complain about other fanboys coming in and trashing the PS3, you're doing a phenomenal job of adding fuel to the fire.

@6 Are you kidding? This place has been a whine fest since well before the ps3 actually launced. Hell, that's why I read it. It's full of nothing but depression, resentment, and hope. It's hilarious.
This post is a perfect example. It's using a non-exclusive game to boast about a console's offering while insulting another console that's getting the same game. Beyond desperate.

First of all I was number 12 not number 11. Secondy your homebrew paradise is good for you and all, but what about the other 99% of PS3 owners who don't know how to do that stuff. With the Wii, it's all there to download. No need for emulators. Also, i would like to compare the PSX and PS2 library with 7 systems. Now I don't want to come across as a Nintendo fanboy, but you can't compete with games that came out on seven DIFFERENT systems with games that came out on only three, no matter how many the PS2 produced.

No, Insomniac Develop for Sony and have a good relationship with Sony and Insomniac have said Resistance is Exclusive to the PS3

You idiots, god of war II is not in 720p. That's something that developers can opt to do for the playing of ps2 games on the ps3, but for the version coming out in march, God of War 2 for the ps2 will NOT be 720p native on any TV. They may make a patch later, but as of now that was a rumor. Anyways, it's good to see a ps3 game get such a high score. Can't see myself enjoying it, though.
