Play.com UK has a great deal on the PS3 -- free HDMI!
Now here is a pre-order bundle you can get excited about! Sure, it costs £524.99, but the kicker is what comes with that added £100. It's not an extra controller... nor is it one or two games. If you grab this bundle from Play.com, you will not only get the 60GB PlayStation 3, but you'll snag three games. Two of these games are extremely hot: Resistance: Fall of Man and MotorStorm. If you have faith in Genji, then you can get excited about that one, too! It's not just games that you get... you also get a free HDMI cable! If you ever try to buy an HDMI cable from a store, they're very expensive. But monoprice.com has them pretty darn cheap... but even they don't let you have one for free!So what do you guys think about that deal? We think that's a pretty great deal. While it does kind of stink that you don't get an extra controller (a standard for many bundles), you do get some great games and the HDMI cable. We don't really have much else to say about this, so we'll leave it in yours hands: Deal or No Deal?
[Thanks Adam!]

This would be even sweeter if they took Genji out of the bundle and threw in an extra SIXAXIS instead. Play, you listening?
humpty @ Feb 14th 2007 6:19PM
Yea, Genji sours the deal a bit. Feb/March is going to be good times for PS3.
video_game_master91 @ Feb 14th 2007 7:56PM
Deal!
Charlie George @ Feb 15th 2007 12:06AM
Ok, the deal is AWESOME. However it is only for PAL and not NTSC. So therefore customers in the U.S. cannot take advantage of this deal.
realist @ Feb 15th 2007 12:11AM
What are you guys talking about? Genji is a great game. Arguably not as good as God of War, but as far as 3'rd person button smashers go, it's very good.
You don't have to like it, but I certainly prefer it to any FPS shooter.
vizunary @ Feb 15th 2007 1:19AM
plus they should also get casino royale, that would definitely sold me. I didn't get any freebies, though I did buy my PS3 with gift cards I won at work, so no beeatching. On subject can anyone recommend a good brand HDMI for the PS3? I'm finally getting HD next week :) Thanks!

The playstation 3 has no games worth my time, it has useless features (built in wireles:why have wirless internet when you have at least two other cables connected? It's not like you are going to be walking around with the thing, Bluetooth: I have had no problems with my wireless controller on my 360 so who cares?, Blu-Ray: don't even watch movies on my GAMING CONSOLE, so why should I pay extra money to have a feature I do NOT need? 7 USB Ports: This is stupid, I doubt most of you even have more than 7 USB devices in your ownership.)
Resistance Fall of Man: stupid game
Any other game on ps3: who cares? looks better on 360
Accessories: 360 demolishes the ps3
Online: Can you guys really not afford 14 cents a day to play badass games online, with a rounded, extensive service?
Looks: Owners can not even touch the ps3 without fingerprints everywhere (And I do mean EVERYWHERE)
Loudness: If you are complaining about the dB level of a console, you obviously are too cheap to own a surround sound or at least a 2.1 system worth more than $100
Games: Lost Planet, Gears of War, Too Human, Mass Effect, Halo 3 vs. RFOM? pfft who cares about that game, where are all of the exclusives? Sony has been known for the HUGE game library, so why do they only have around 20 games, most of which are pathetic.
Power:Sony can't even include a scaling chip (anna) to make their games work on most tv's... the 360 simply got an update and does 1080P now, why can't Sony do a simple update... because they are losing an uphill battle.
I have owned both systems, returned my PS3 after a week, because its just an expensive hunk of plastic and silicon, with no amazing games, crap online, high price tag, and a business strategy of "well in six to twelve months we will have this, and this" well I don't want that kind of waiting, I want to be able to have sweet games, play online, and have a good console, and not go broke paying for features that are not only useless to me, but to most people in this county. MOST PEOPLE (75%) DON'T EVEN HAVE HI-DEF TV'S, ESPECIALLY WITH HDMI (95%)!!!
Tyler @ Feb 15th 2007 1:34AM
@6 anything cheap.. I got my HDMI cables off ebay for like.. $11 and they work just as well as any others. Granted they probably wont last as long, but can always get a new set lol
You also may want to try Amazon

Bungee @ Feb 15th 2007 3:58AM
I guess it isn't too bad of a deal for those in the UK (I am from the US). For those of you who didn't want to do the conversion here is what I came out with.
Bundle = $1030
Console = $830
Games = $80 each.
Cable = around $50 for the one on their site
So to get it all separate would cost around $1120 depending on the quality of cable and where you buy it of course. So even if you throw out Genji (I personally liked the first one, it was just long enough to not bore me) when buying them individually then it could still easily run you more than the bundle.
By the way, I don't currently own a PS3 as the library, to me, is garbage at the moment and only has 1 game I want to play (damn you GT) but, I do plan on picking one up next year after a few key titles are released and I can justify the cost. I own a 360 and love it (I would consider myself a fanboy) and have many games I love to play, but cmon Stilleto, this is neither the time nor place to express your... inability of researching something and deciding if it is right for you before you buy it. Then again, seeing as how your argument is completely ridiculous, I must assume you are a troll and are only trying to anger this sites community and hopefully get them to yell and argue with you as to how you are wrong. Please don't encourage him, just sit back and laugh at his stupidity and feeble attempt so you don't fall down to his low maturity level. *shrugs*

Why is there always so much people "not interested" in the PS3, but who actually take their precious time to come read the blog, and even comment?
Happy with a 360? Fine, enjoy your purchase, instead of wasting your time here, spamming the comments section.
F**K OFF.

Talking of HDMI cables, i was on Play.com the other day, and swear down on my life, the official Sony HDMI Cable for the PS3 had a pricetag! I Cant remember what they put it up for, but i think it was around about £24 mark which isnt too bad at all. On Play.com however they also sell 2 goldplated HDMI cables for £10 and £15 respectively with length of cable. So dont expect the HDMI cable to cost you a bomb when it comes round to it ;)

Its fine if you feel that PS3 has "nothing to offer" - thats why not all people buy it. I dont want a 360 because i know that NInja Gaiden 2 will most likely be ported to PS3 (360 1st though) and if I cant play Lost Odyssey then its fine with me- no game's worth shelling out 300-400 for. For Wii I am only looking forward to Fire Emblem and Smash brothers - and I will get a Wii when both comes out because the Wii is cheap.
You can say you dont like something but dont make yourself sound like an idiot (intentionally or not) in the process.
Accessories: 360 demolishes the ps3 - i am not into being milked by MS for every penny i got on accessories... i can live without 100$ add on to Wifi, headsets and rumbling wheels.
Games: Lost Planet, Gears of War, Too Human, Mass Effect, Halo 3.
I suppose you are more of an FPS/action person. Lost Planet and GOW requires decent Multiplayer to make its worth(I for one would NEVER pay 60$ for a 6 hour game and then have to make its worth to play online). Too Human is where now? Mass Effect and Halo3 are also acquired tastes.
So bottom line- you shouldve said "There arent many games on the PS3 that I like or have surpassed current 360 games." If you said that I dont think anyone here would give you a hard time.
The Darkside Shenmue Ruller @ Feb 15th 2007 9:29AM
Nº 7 is just a Xbox Fanboy. Who would buy a console just to returning it in about just a week? Why wouldn't he wait for the awesome games that are coming for the PS3?
Go away...

Ps3 Price is too stupid, i'm not impressed this time around.
Microsoft will have my money this time, Nintendo too, but never sony.
Adam Beckett @ Feb 15th 2007 9:42AM
Oh and as for the PS3 cost being a stupid price you need to look at MS If you are to make it up the what a PS3 is 60GB WIFI and HD DVD drive (it's half the size of an xbox360) you will be paying a lot more then you are for a PS3 oh and can I point out that you also have the power BRICK???? If you have a big room then go buy an xbox. if you would like something that is all in one then the PS3 wins hands down...
Lion @ Feb 15th 2007 9:53AM
Three games for £100: Cool
"Free" HDMI: Also cool. But, why the heck isn't this in the box in the first place? Why is a retailer having to pick-up an expense that Sony should have taken on?
As for the flame ware that is heating up here ... Let's just drop it. Sony fanboys are always going to point out that getting the equivelant capability in the Xbox 360 is going to cost a bit more, and that the PS Network is free. And MS faboys are always going to point out that at least they aren't forced to pay for Blu-ray if they don't need it, and that the PS Network is inferior to Xbox Live.
Okay, we get it. Now that those points are covered, let's move on.
Adam Beckett @ Feb 15th 2007 10:35AM
I would like to point out that on the Xbox 360 you only get 3 USB ports.... I have a 360 myself and the only reason I play it is for Final Fantasy XI and to tell the truth it's a pain when you have no free USB ports. When I am playing other games with friends and the bat dies on the joypad you have to plug it in and if more then one die well you will not be able to play. I can't wait to get my hands on the PS3 we have waited far to long.
So for the Xbox360 fanboy say what you will but your nothing but a loser who need's to read up on things before you sl*g them off.............
Insomniac @ Feb 15th 2007 3:17PM
u could always buy a usb hub no? but yeah, that is another expense. i say there both good and whichever floats ur boat then, go 4 it.

For all intents and purposes, support for the Xbox should be over. Why support a system that's been cast aside by its creator? Microsoft has officially stopped manufacturing the original Xbox. Sure, there is that enticing statistic that there are officially 24.5 million Xbox consoles in homes across the world. Pretty slick numbers -- though nothing compared to the PS2's 120 million-plus units. ign.com
And they'll do the same with your 360 a$$hole
Iridium @ Feb 16th 2007 12:24AM
Overall this seems like a good deal. I wish the PS3 had an HDMI cable in the box but I already have one for my upcovert DVD player in the bedroom, came with it, go Cyberhome $35 with S-Video, HDMI, and Component in the box. My 30" Toshiba CRT sucks over HDMI so I've kept the PS3 on component for the time being. The PS brand HDMI cable is $50 now and you can buy a Pelican brand for $24. I suspect that customers were very unhappy with Best Buy charging $100 for something that was probably $15 wholesale. I always buy off monoprice but a HDMI cable for $24 at retail is OK.
Remember even if you are paying $120 for a cable you're really not getting a $120 cable. Just a $20 cable with $100 profit margin for the electronics store. When I worked at Micro-Center we sold the same brand cable as Best Buy for half the price. The price we paid was the same as Best Buy, they just marked it up more. We didn't want to screw the consumer.

Playstation3 is worth the money... with Blue-ray Beating the crap out of HD-DVD, it looks like its going to be the choice for HD movie viewing... and have you checked on how much Blue-ray players cost? around $1000... and supposedly, the Playstation blue ray player is quality, one of the best in the market right now...
secondly, the upper Xbox 360 is around $400 ish... but to equal what PS3 offers for $600, you have to buy wifi adapter, HD-DVD drive, bigger HDD (which microsoft doesnt even offer right now)... which would easily cost you $300++... so, if you want the features of a PS3 on your Xbox 360, you need to shell out $700++...
As for the games, most games that come out from here on out will be playable on both systems... but the few exclusives that come out will be better for the PS3 :) ----- MGS4, GT5, FF13
I also use more than 7 USB ports on my PC (Cellphone, Camera, Wirless Mouse, Wireless Keyboard, Webcam, 2 PC controllers and a printer)... and since the Logitech PC controllers work on the PS3, it's nice to know that i can play with 4 more of my friends...

@ STiLLeTo 07 ... Oh my ... what as I thinking ... everything you said is so true, you are such a visionary, I never considered any of those points before. I now find my life empty and shallow, what am I to do? Please help me, I'm lost I need your guidance.
I find it so amusing that some one who claims the PS3 means so little to them can spend their precious time talking about the PS3. I want to hear more from STiLLeTo 07 he makes me laugh, and anyone like him. You guys are funny. You should be on TV, then at least I could switch you off.
I suggest if you don't like something walk away fropm it and let those who do, enjoy themselves. You just sound bitter and jealous.
