Does custom firmware break Ratchet & Clank?

One of our readers, Brian, shot us an e-mail, telling us: "I am running 3.10 OE firmware and cannot get Ratchet and Clank to run on it." That's strange, isn't it? Dark_Alex's open edition firmwares are supposed to combine the functionality of Sony's official releases with additional homebrew capabilities.
However, it seems like Brian is not alone in experiencing glitches in R&C on a OE-enabled PSP. Lucian04, from the IGN Boards, noticed a plethora of problems that simply isn't making the game fun: "Well I tried lowering the clock speed to default and tried everything up to 333mhz. The game for some reason wont run on my PSP unless I'm at 333mhz. The disc spins for a minute and then just stops. As for trying to get online, the wifi light never comes on and it never asks me to choose my network connection or anything. It just freezes @ the Ad-hoc/infra select screen"
Some are suggesting to take out the Memory Stick before the game loads. Others are pointing out that the game may be glitchy, even on regular firmware editions. I've only played this game on a standard 3.11 PSP, and experienced no glitches while writing my review. How about the rest of you?

I have 3.10 OE. And had the same problem. So I just used DevHook. Now it works fine. I just never thought I would have to use it again.

!!HELLO EVERYONE!!
I know that many of you are having problems with infrastructure.
I know how to solve this problem. I am on 3.10 OE-A 2 and with cpu settings on 333 and no plugins and all configurations set to disabled except the one about hiding corrupt icons.
I used devhook 0.46 to emulate 2.71 and loaded up ratchet and clank (CSO format on memory stick). Infrastructure works.
CHEERS
(BTW, about the post above me, adhoc works for me by just loading ratchet and clank from the xmb of 3.10 OE-A 2.)

Is it really ok to complain your custom non manufacturer software doesnt run a Game that was meant to be run under the correct software? Shouldnt this have gone to Dark Alex instead?
I mean I have nothing against running Oe but really, the game and the system have a license that you agree to...
I would never think of complaining about it anywhere and just asking the software writer for help instead...

Rachet & Clank works fine on 3.10 OE-A'
CHECK YOUR SETTINGS!
Shane @ Feb 17th 2007 5:53PM
What firmware does the game require? 3.10?
I am sitting on 3.03 OE-C and I don't feel the need to updated to 3.10 OE-A unless it is needed.
Kannon @ Feb 18th 2007 2:06AM
Finally fighting back, theyve release a patch almost monthly to combat their own customers. Its their system let them mod it up and down if they want to, they're gonna anyway cause Sony obviously doesnt understand how easy it is to do.

just do this, I have 3.40, and ir work with this:
First, totally turn off your PSP (not sleep mode)
Now, hold down the right trigger and turn it back on
This will bring you to recovery menu where you can change several options
Configuration: Game folder homebrew (currently:3.XX Kernal), Use NO-UMD (currently:disabled), Fake region (currently: America), Free UMD region (currently:enabled)
Advanced configuration: Plain modules in UMD/ISO (currently:enabled)
CPU Speed: Speed in UMD/ISO (currently:266)
Plugins: All disabled
