One word: Conan!

By Crom! It's Conan and he's headed to the PS3. Rumors have labeled the game a God of War clone (like that's a bad thing) and the new information and screenshots released today seem to confirm that GoW goodness:

More than 20 different weapons.
100 unique combat moves.
Severe heads and limbs with the limb-specific damage system.

Can Conan hold his own? Will Arnold be proud to play the game? We won't know until 2008, but color us excited!

From what I understand, the game is gonna take after the books more than the movies.

I read the GI article on it, and obviously the whole God of War thing came up.

But the quick blurb from the developer in regards how the combat is gonna pan out has convinced me to not write this off as a clone just yet.

the words he used to describe the combat was "Ninja Gaiden."

I'm always wary of licenses, no matter how great they look or proclaim to be. Especially not with the horror of just how bad King Kong on the '360 was hanging fresh in my mind. For now, I think I'll stick with Motorstorm and be happy.

I'm afraid it will always have this GoW-clone stigma attached to it:

- Draws gameplay influences from the exact same origins as GoW (quoting "Ninja Gaiden" is no less of an excuse than quoting "Devil May Cry")
- Similar setting (greek mythology, doesn't differ THAT much from Conan's world)
- Gore

So yes, the stigma is well deserved. It is a GoW clone. Doesn't mean it couldn't be fun.

Bored: actually Conan drew from a lot of influences, greek being one influence, but there was a lot of norse and egyptian in there as well. Conan is arguebly the first of the modern day fantasy, beating JRR Tolkien to the punch by decades.

Bored: cool. of course, you may be right, and this game may be a complete rip on many other games.

but the origionals have influenced our popular culture for ages. Hell, you know the whole "bezerker rage" thing that is in practically every other game?

that first came from conan.
