What happened with firmware 1.54
The official PlayStation 3 update page has finally updated itself to explain what was updated in the firmware update that you all used to update your previously out-of-date PS3's. Are you up to date on that? Here's what changed:- Users
- You can now select an image to use as the User icon from [Photo].
- You can now select an image to use as the User icon from [Photo].
- Settings
- [Key Tone] has been added as an option under [Sound Settings].
- [Delete Backup Data] has been added as an option under [System Settings] > [Backup Utility].
- WEP 128, WPA-PSK (TKIP) and WPA-PSK (AES) have been added as security methods that can be used with [AOSS™] under [Automatic].*
* If you have already set up for AOSS using an earlier version of the system software, you must perform AOSS setup again to use the security methods listed above.
* When [Automatic] is selected, the security method to be used is automatically set.
* AOSS is a trademark of Buffalo, Inc.
- Friends
- New for 1.54: [Screen Mode] has been added as an option in the options menu for video chat.
- The image of the person you are chatting with during video chat can now be changed to match the screen size.
- New for 1.54: You can now use a compatible USB camera compliant with USB video class (UVC) for video chat.
- * For information on supported models and usage instructions, contact the retailer where the cameras are sold.
- The method for saving your password / signing in automatically under PLAYSTATION®Network has been changed. There are now two separate options.
- Other
- You can now enter text in Korean using the on-screen keyboard.

Havnt tried it out yet, managed to dig up my old USB Webcam though.. we'll see if anyone feels like chatting :D

I haven't used the video chat funcion, but IMO the whole friends feature needs work.

In account Management, you can deactivate/activate the psp from there... previous I thik you could only deactivate and active the ps3.

You guys forgot a big feature...
Hold down SQUARE and tap R2 while in the web browser... you can ZOOM now! It makes a huge difference, try it out. R2 is zoom in, L2 zooms out, left stick pans web canvas... tap square again to snap out of zoom mode.
Surprised this wasn't mentioned, it makes the browser actually usable.

I have a question...
I have a ps3 and a psp but no wifi connection in my house. Is there another way to have them communicate? Like through usb or something. Im suprised since they both have built in wifi that they can just talk to each other directly.

not that it really matters, but I cant find out how to change the user icon to a picture of my choice (as it says I can in the update list) Has someone else found out how you go about doing this?

@5 They do use each others wireless to communicate, you just need to set it up from remote play on both systems. Also you can plug the psp into ps3 via usb.

Has anyone noticed issues with gameplay after updating to 1.54?
After I updated, Flow took more than a minute to start up after the "Playstation 3" game splash, and the motorstorm demo started to choke at one point.
'You guys experience anything like that?
