New this was coming, but glad to hear more about it. I've got 3 PS1 games downloaded that I play on my PSP. I would love to play them on my PS3.

Fantastic news, now all we need is better ps1 games available, especially ones that didn't get to Europe that i had to play through other, less savoury means.
Chrono Cross anyone?
Always the option to put it on your psp and play portable which is awesome.

This only makes sense... like Nintendo leveraging their huge back catalog, Sony can put many of the games back into the channel and make huge profits with (hopefully) smaller amounts of investment, which in turn COULD bring down the price of other, ahem, 'ITEMS' of note from Sony.
Ya know sony, if there was tetris (insert generic but highly popular 8bit game title here), you could sell hundreds and hundreds more units... my wife would want her own... And oh my goodness, isn't generic but higly popular already avaliable on the ps1? Hummm...
Now what we need is the ability to download and save PS2 games... I'd download GTA3 just to have it...

I think you did right ignoring kotaku. They deserve contempt and nothing else. And rubbish about "freedom of expression" it seems not anyone can login to kotaku and post - you need to be "invited", and are kicked off if you are critical of them. You see, kotaku are above "freedom"
Kotaku: We heard a rumour, can we post it on so that our "invited" xbot readers can twist it into negative news
Sony: politely request you not to publish this as a friend, given all the support and access we have given you despite all the fact that you bashed our console so much?
Kotaku: fu.
Sony: Cool. But since you dont want to be friendly, we should take away the privileges that a friend gets
kotaku: whines cries bitches in public
Sony: okay, since you are going to be a kid about it, at least we can behave like a grown up. So post your little "scoop" and feel happy about it.
Anyway, the amount of good news on the PS3 is reaching staggering proportions.
1. PS1 games playable on PS3
2. 1000 PS2 games BC
3. The prospect of force feedback - in time for GT5 / MGS! Shows that Sony listens
4. Possible fixing of scaling issues (not sure about this)
5. Other small neat additions, such as improved browser feature
6. background downloading
7. And now this
And drowning xbots are desperately trying to find a negative spin. Some of the best ones:
1. force feedback: dig out some old comments for the old "Sony lies: stuff, or accuse Sony of the grave crime of bringing out a new controller (of course MS would never do that).
2. Sony "copied" ideas for home: of course its ok for MS to copy Sega's online, copy Sony franchises like GT and well, Ninty are the great innovators: their big titles are the next Zelda, Mario, Metroid P and mario ware.

I think this is great news. I still have not downloaded any PS1 games for my PSP seeing as there really is no game on the list that makes me want to buy them. After seeing what you can download from the Japan servers I hope those games will make there way to the North American servers.
Plus I think it would be cool if Sony was to bring games that where on the PS1 and the games only stayed in Japan and English patch so people could see why people over in Japan liked those games.
rfom @ Mar 2nd 2007 11:38AM
Of course to add
8. new dev tech units
And the big hitters: GoW2 (better grpahics than many "next gen" 360 titles?), Calling all cars, Motorstorm, F1, Heavenly, Lair to come soon.
If you are an xbot, please come here and post so that we can laugh at you. And also pray that MGS / FF go to 360, AND pray that KillZ sucks. Imagine, PS3 has the best titles of every genre other than FPS and the 2nd best next gen FPS on PS3 after Gears (RFOM, twice as long with far better plot), if it gets 2-3 more great FPS that it for 360.

How about direct access for PSP users to buy PS1 games? Would be nice.

That's a trip, I would've never expected such a thing... this is more indicative of a symbiotic relationship than using a PSP as a mirror in an auto game... one begins to wonder... how about an emulator that allows upscaled PSP games on the ps3? Eh? A little hi-res Loco Roco, anyone?
John @ Mar 3rd 2007 9:33AM
I agree with 4. Kotaku is creepy. I remember in the old days, before the PS3 was released, they were publishing people who were "proving" that the ps3 wouldn't be able to display in 1080p. Kotaku is basically a front, like Fox news and Pravda.

Hey guys. I have a ps3 and I am thinking about buying a PSP. I currently own many PS1 games that I have saved over the last 10 years. Can I play these on a psp? if so do i have to be in the same room? Or can i be at work 5 miles away?
luca @ Apr 1st 2007 1:22PM
can u play chrono cross (ps1) on a ps3 considering they are region free (im from the uk so i cant play chrono cross)
