First in-game Killzone 2 screenshots in OPM UK? [update 1]

Something's funny, though. The magazine comes out on March 30th, making it the April Issue... something weird always happens in magazines during the April Issue. But, what is it? Why? We actually know, but we'd like you to fill in the dots and riddle us this: do you think the "something strange" could be this announcement? Will it be for real, or will it just be... a "teaser"?
[Update: Oh, yeah. We were right. Go us.]

In case any of you are wondering, I think he's referring to the April Fools joke these magazines tend to pull with a fake news story in the spring issue. I just hope the in-game footage isn't too much of a departure from the quality of the 2005 footage.

wiibouyuk101, that is just an inane article. We've seen games on both that PS3 and the Xbox 360 that have insane effects, coupled with HD resolutions. Oblivion being one example. Lots of HDR, soft shadows and filtering going on there. It wasn't at 1080p, but it was still HD, which is more than the Wii can do.
If these types of things were important to you in the first place, why back the Wii? It doesn't nearly have the horsepower necessary to render all these effects in simple 480i. Even the most technologically impressive game on the Wii, Super Mario Galaxy, doesn't compare graphically with titles like Gears of War or Resistance: Fall of Man. If you want to see some amazing effects, coupled with HD resolutions, go check out some Ratchet and Clank Future screens, or go check out some Motorstorm gameplay.

hmm.. the way i see it, hd's mostly about the sharpness, fanboy. try playing your wii in a 60+ inch tv, let's see how sharp it will be compared to either of the hd consoles.
it's really unfair to compare those movies against those games if you're not playing both on big screens.

Anyone who is expecting something similar to the teaser is going to be extremely let down. IGN got to see it running behind closed doors, and it was said that the actual graphics don't even come remotely close to the teaser. Check out last week's IGN Weekly video to see for yourself.

Next-Gen-Gamer,
IGN saw the EDGE development tools in a Killzone environment. It had no branding of Killzone 2 or Killzone PS3. In fact, I believe the only resemblance was the Hellghasts enemies or whatever they're called. The demo showed the physics of their bodies when they were shot. Phil Harrison even gave a disclaimer that this was not the actual current Killzone PS3 build.
While it probably won't look as good as the rendered video we saw at E3, Killzone will without a doubt look good. Whether it's fun or not is a completely different story.

Also, since monthly magazines are always released ridiculously early (about a month), wouldn't an issue released on March 30th technically be the May issue?

They had the game running behind closed doors at GDC: Not impressive. Unless this new build is head over heels better than what they showed off, don't expect to see anything close to that CG trailer.

As Jake has pointed out, the Killzone shown at GDC had one thing in common with the current Killzone 2 ps3 project, the name. Other than that, its a completely seperate code. It was to show the power and developer friendly tools EDGE provides, after all, these are new tools. The killzone guys got a hold of them rather recently I would presume. Their ability to create such a demo, with complicated physics based gameplay and a myriad of effects is downright surprising. Imagine what a few more months of working on Edge will provide. We'll see at E3.
Being a fan of the killzone universe (not necessarily the games =D, though liberation was amazing) I tend to gather up any and all killzone news I can possibly find. In hindsight, I had wished Sony chose a different game to show off Edge, that way people weren't looking at the game, but instead looking at the tools. To be honest GDC is no place for press, especially when they lack the ability to see what it is thats being shown right in front of them.

Even though Motorstorm didn't compare exactly with the trailer released, it still turned out to be an amazing game both visually and gameplay wise. Sony definetly has a lot riding on this game given that they purchased Guerilla, the developers of the game the previous two games, and that they've spent 20 million bucks just trying to develop this big motha. Sony may not know how to release a console but I think they won't be stupid enough to release a game thats packin' ps1 graphics and gameplay.

please send a link about that article, because the one i read on IGN said nothing good or bad about what they were shown.
