Rockstar and Timbaland present: Beaterator

Two years ago, Rockstar Games had a version of Beaterator on its website. Today, Rockstar and famed R&B producer Timbaland have announced they would be teaming up to bring a full-fledged version of the music title exclusively to the PSP handheld system. Beaterator will feature a music mixer, and a collection of original music and rhythm games.

"Music has always been a hugely important part of everything we do here," said Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games in today's press release. "I've always been a huge fan of Rockstar and love playing their games," said Timbaland. "I'm thrilled to be partnering with them and making music for Beaterator. I cannot wait to get this in the hands of our fans!"

Beaterator will be available on PSP this summer. Play the original Beaterator by visiting Rockstar.

i wonder if some of "Timbaland's" samples are gonna be ripped off too. after all rockstar's done, i find it ironic that THIS makes me lose respect for them.

Timbaland rarely samples. He has more musical talent than most would credit him with. Some of the best pop records in recent years were produced by him.

Whether he has talent or not is besides the point. He completely ripped off that Finnish dude, and didn't even have the self respect too admit it. Not only did he falsely say that it was from a videogame(which it wasn't), he more importantly didn't give the dude royalties. I love music produced by Timbaland, but I lose some serious respect for him after seeing how handled this, by playing dumb.

Who cares? It's a fully functional sampler / music comp. tool. Write your own beats and sample your own sounds on the go, mix 'em down to PC/Mac when you get home, and take advantage of whatmay be the only truly creation-based app for the system. What's wrong with exercising your creative side for a change? I, for one, cannot wait for this app, based on what I've seen from the Java version on their website.
