The Official PS3Fanboy Folding@Home team!

Due to popular demand (and to pretend to be in friendly competition with sister site Joystiq), PS3Fanboy has decided to create its own Folding@Home team. That's right, we as a collective unit will save lives by all together not play games, rather stare at the giant, super cool bluish globe rotating at a very slow speed.

Well, since I'm about to head out to dinner, I'm going to go ahead and start up the team. Since we're quite possibly the coolest people around, we should have a completely nerdy number to represent that. No, not team number 1337, that would be beyond lame. We'll do something even beyond the beyond lame (not the game Beyond the Beyond, that was pimpalicious) category. We shall be team number 57793 -- because that's what Folding@Home wants us to be. It's nerdy... right? Fanboys, let's cure!

yeah F-Man guess you and me both will find out when this is done,. this is the 3rd unit for me maybe it'll count all 3 noe that im in the team weird though,. it list the team as having no members,. and even though it shows the Team # on my screen in Foldine@home,. when i go to my stats it still sayes im in the default 0 team maybe it just takes a while to update

Too bad PS3 friends list doesnt support groups(maybe it will in the future) and we'd be able to all add each other under a PS3FANBOY group,.

Well I'm added to the team. That map is really cool. Somewhere in the mountains of Pakistan there is a lone PS3. OH MY GOD OSAMA BIN LADEN HAS AN ACTIVE PS3.

There's also a single PS3 in the middle or Russia. Probably in an goverment test lab. And one in Northern Iran. Some of this kind of freaks me out.

I finally managed to use Folding at Home (I'm "Boots"), BUT I still can't use my (MEXICAN) credit card. Sony thinks the Mexico, latin america, south africa, middle asia and so on aren't included in the whole world. It hurts me to say it, but Xbox 360, even though it doesn't have as many features as PS3, does accept mexican credit cards, and so I've been able to play XBLA games.

Fuck it Sony, hurry up with your stupid bullshit. I wanna buy lemmings 2!

The PLAYSTATION3 hasn't been officially released in Mexico so stop frickin' complaining. Why should they take your plastic PESOs when they haven't released the system there? Just because you went on a day trip over the fence and bought one (and decided to go back??) doesn't mean Sony should accept your money.

the team seems to have exploded over night. I'm Jess. Did you see the PS3 stats on the front page? 24021 active PS3's create 589 teraflops of the 843 total teraflops created by 221229 machines. 11% of the machines doing 70% of the work seems pretty amazing to me.

If I'm not mistaken, the map is all possible clients. Those could be PCs or Macs.

Been looking for a team, I need to fire up my PC to complete the WU it was working on, but I've done 3 on the PS3 so far. BTW, all the lights on the globe are F@H users, not just PS3's. That'd be a lot of PS3's.

I know there IS illegal immigration, but just because there is, it doesn't mean EVERY SINGLE DAMNED MEXICAN is an illegal immigrant (besides, if your government was a piece of shit, and your family was hungry, what would you do? Moving on, I also know it's not officially out in Mexico. So? That doesn't mean I shouldn't be able to use it SINCE IT'S ALREADY BEING SOLD on game stores and other retail stores (except Sony Style); but who would have thought? Usually american and mexican SKUs for playstation have always worked the same for games, but since it's cheaper to buy them in the US, I thought there would be no problem, AS USUAL. So, there was no reason to assume my credit card wouldn't work on PS3 since it always worked fine on 360. Besides, why are you using "PS3 is not officially released in mexico" as an excuse? That's hardly an excuse. PS3 is supposedly available "worldwide" now! What the hell is a worldwide launch then? Besides, wouldn't you like to have more people to play with?

Anyway, I already signed up as an american user (but I can't buy anything... at least not yet). I'm waiting for Sony to release PlayStation CARDs, in case I'm never able to use my credit card on my "american" user. By the way, my id is bootsielon if you (or anyone else) ever want to play resistance or whatever.
