Internet gets run over: GTAIV trailer goes live
The internet is dying! Why, you ask? The hotly anticipated Grand Theft Auto IV trailer has gone live. If the embedded video (above) doesn't seem to work, try downloading this HD torrent. You can also try GameTrailers, but internet gamers haven't been any kinder to that service. If you don't mind low quality, it seems like YouTube has been able to survive the assault so far. Watch, and marvel the next generation of GTA. Are you psyched?!

for some reason it felt like i was watching a spiderman trailer. until the guy started talkin anyway. im happy its back in liberty city. cant wait for this game.

Could this imply an ethics system has been implemented? If the protagonist ponders a different lifestyle, perhaps you have ethical choices to make in the game?

yea crackdown did ge old fast, the city was all the same every mission was the same exact thing, it was fun for the first few days, until you leveled up all the way and completed everything. that is why gta is sooo good, even when you beat the game they make messing around the best part.

That's not Liberty City - it's definitely NYC. This will, no doubt, bring about a frighteningly large amount of negative attention for this game. Previous versions were set in fictional cities, but if the final version does in fact take place in NYC, I'm sure JT and the like will have a field day with it.

Yeah, that looks like NYC ... Rockstar always does things to get buzz, it wouldn't surprise me if they have a Twin Tower mission in the game. They will have the news channels talking about GTA for a long time.

hey guys if u take notice while watching this vid...u see a fer y terminal with a R missing so ferry* ..what do ferrys do u ask...well they take u to diffrent contrys and also when he talks he says hes smuggled ppl....i guess that means smuggling illegal ppl to contrys ...so i guess this wont just be set in NYC this will go big like America/Europe(london)obv.

just finished watching the trailer...I guess I was hoping for a lil bit more...I would've liked to have seen maybe two cities....nah mean....maybe NY and London...u could catch a plane or a jet between cities or sum sh**. Also no episodic content for the PS3?? Playstation built this brand did it not?? Who the f*** do they think they are?? All PS3 users should boycott this game until they give us the same consideration....and I hope that this game is optimized for the Cell processor....

It is in fact Liberty City, it is written in one of the boats and the news papers are called things like "the liberteen" and stuff.
I hope they go wild with the ads, that's will be funny as hell.
The GetaLife building and "Heart Stopper Burger" parts were hilarious

Haha yea the Ads are VERY FUNNY and I hope they are plastered all over the place as well...and even better I bet the radio commercials will be funny as usual.
Now hopefully Rockstar can get us some action vids and keep rolling in the updates this game looks great.

no, it is liberty city. download the HD trailer and pause it when a police car is on the screen while those pedestrians are walking by. it says LCPD. also, the ship at the end, the platypus, has liberty city written under it.

The ironic thing is watching a video that says "Team Xbox" on a PS3 fanboy site. lol
Anyway, nice graphics. What I found extremely funny, was the mock up of adds "Something X", and even better, the insurance company "Get a Life", a mock up of MetLife, lol.
The getaway will feature a highly detailed London. Will the same be for GTA with New york? That would be just great. Unfortunately, it may be limited due to the fact that it has to fit on a DVD-9 ;)
Someone should do a game where the whole world is rendered in high detail.... but that'll probably never happen, too expensive for now, at least not in a remotely close future. Perhaps when Sony (or MSFT or EA) is able to set webcams everywhere in the world to render it completely, THEN we'll talk.

@#7 Actually the Ferry is just the boat that takes you from Staten Island to Manhattan, it's not a cruise dock. So I think, as far from what we know, you'll definitely be traveling between the 5 boroughs (Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island). It looks good, I can't wait to see more about it.

it wasn't a place holder graphic for the boat. the trailer has "liberteen", a LCPD police car towards the end of the broadway shot, and the boat with liberty city. LC is modeled off of NYC.
i doubt that this is going to happen, but what if they plan on showing three trailers and each one is showing a different location (LC, VC, and SA). that would be awesome if they included all three on one disc but they probably can't because they are limited to the xbox 360's dvd-9...

They might call it liberty city, but it has the ESB, chrysler building, Met Life (GetALife), Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Bridge, and Red Hook docks. There's no way that it's not New York with different names. And you can't do NYC without ferries.
This game will be awesome if they let me drive by my apartment in game.

Yeah, it's Liberty City in spirit but merely LOOKS like NYC. Past GTA games have had a lot of recognizable landmarks from real cities. It's still a fictional place in an alternate reality. I'm sure the 5 boroughs will be called something like Hanmattan, Pronx, Kings, Brookville, and Satan Island.
